On Tuesday 21st May a group of fifteen learners from Fish Hoek High School's Drama Department took part in the 14th annual Shakespeare Schools Festival at The Homecoming Centre in District Six. They performed a medley of Shakespeare's well-renowned homecoming scenes with the strength and confidence of a professional troupe of actors. 🎭️MASTERCLASS WITH RAY FEARON THIS SUNDAY 10.30am🎭️ Ray Fearon is a stage, theatre and film actor. He has worked with the RSC, Donmar, Almeida, National, and other theatres. His film works includes Beauty and the Beast (2017) and National Theatre Live: Macbeth (2013). His television work includes appearances in episodes of Raw (2008), Snatch (2017), Origin (2018), Da Vinci’s Demons (2013), Midsomer Murders (1997), Suspects (2014), Moving On (2009), The Play’s the Thing (2019) and His Dark Materials (2019). In this masterclass, hosted by Enva Lewis, Ray will be exploring all things Shakespeare. He will be helping you with how to break down the text and better understand the meaning and intentions behind the words, as well as explore the rhythm of delivery. You will need to bring a Soliloquy of your choice, from any Shakespeare play, and also familiarise yourself with the opening prologue from Romeo & Juliet. . 𖧷 ꙳⋆ 東京芸術祭ファーム ラボ 参加体験談 ③ 𓂃✍ ￣￣￣￣￣￣￣￣￣￣￣◌𓈒𓐍 異文化圏のアーティストが集まったからこそ刺激を受ける ✎೯ 升味加耀 参加プログラム：Asian Performing Arts Camp (2022) APACへの参加は、個人的にかなり思いきった挑戦でした。 全く自信のない英語で、数ヶ月の間、海外のアーティストと協働する、というかつてない高さのハードルに、応募書類や面接の時点で気持ちは大いに負けており、すでにへとへとだった記憶があります。 それでも、プログラムに参加し何度かセッションを重ねるにつれ、ファームチームの皆さんと、拙い英語に我慢強く付き合ってくれたメンバーのおかげで、なんとか完走することが出来ました。 多岐にわたるテーマで言葉を交わし、それぞれの作品を見ていく中で、メンバーのクリエーションに対する堂々とした姿勢に憧れを覚えました。加えて、植民地支配を受けた歴史や、国内の緊迫した政治情勢が彼らにもたらした、表現の自由や伝統文化に対する強い想いなど、異文化圏のアーティストが集まったからこそ刺激を受ける機会が多々あり、自国の加害に改めて向き合うと共に、異なる視点を想像することで、世界の解像度を少しだけ高めることができました。 また、このプログラム自体が、“完成品”としてのパフォーマンスを目的としていないからこそ、トライ＆エラーを繰り返し、いい意味で浮遊感や余白を残した作品に挑戦することができる、とても素敵な環境だったと思います。 ____________________ #東京芸術祭 #東京芸術祭ファーム #TokyoFestivalFarm #演劇 #パフォーミングアーツ #performingarts #アート #tokyofestival #舞台芸術 #ラボ #artcamp #人材育成

Are self-tapes truly sustainable for the future of our industry? In many ways, they have been a lifesaver, allowing us when we could not physically leave our houses to continue auditioning. We’ve reached a place where in-room castings are possible again, however, not many casting directors are offering them. How do we find the balance here? And should we be forced to submit tapes that cost us extra money to upload? The only way we can bring this to light is to have these conversations with your agent or casting director (if freelance). Discussing what it is that YOU need to give the best audition possible. Being transparent about whether paying to upload an audition is ideal. (hint hint, it’s not! Pay-to-play is not acceptable) If there is a demand from our side, to have these discussions and give alternatives, it will show that change is necessary. If nothing is said, it becomes what is expected of us. Some actors will accept this and be okay with it, but as I’ve come to chat with many actors weekly, we as artists REALLY love the collaborative experience and the connection with casting so that we can improve our relationships. Keep watching all 4 years on https://www.youtube.com/@officialdanceday @jlchoreo John Leggio is a director, choreographer and creator who has conceived original large scale productions ranging from holiday spectaculars, cirque-inspired theatrical experiences, Las Vegas revues and classic book musicals throughout the U.S. He has had the pleasure of performing in some of Broadway's biggest musicals including the original production of CATS (Bwy), My Fair Lady, (Bwy), Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (National Tour), Showboat (National Tour) and in countless hit stage productions. John served as Artistic Director for the Show Palace Theatre, in Hudson, Florida for three seasons where he directed/choreographed Little Shop of Horrors, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, 'And the World Goes Round', Smokey Joe’s Cafe, Swing, Man of La Mancha, La Cage Aux Folles and Hello Dolly to name a few. He received the “Best Choreographer Award,” from the Tampa Bay Times, for an original show he also starred in at the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center (now the Straz Center) where he was the Resident Choreographer. John has taught and choreographed at STEPS on Broadway, Broadway Dance Center, the Joffrey Ballet School, Marymount Manhattan College and Montclair State University. 🔶MEET Czech Performances and Performers at @festivalarrivanodalmare! in Ravenna, Italy🔶 ➔ RADEK BERAN Actor, author, theatre and film director, founding member of @buchty_a_loutky troupe, representative of postmodern puppet "punk". He studied puppetry at DAMU. During his studies (1987–1991), Beran was mainly influenced by what happened outside of classes, for example Jan Švankmajer's film Something from Alice, in which he was fascinated by the use of "out-of-date" puppets and macro shots. In 1991, he received an offer from Marek Bečka to join the puppet group that was to be formed at the West Bohemian Theatre in Cheb. Together with the above-named classmates and with Zuzana Bruknerová Halušťoková and Vít Brukner, who graduated from DAMU a year earlier, he thus became the founder of the Buchty a loutky ensemble. ➔ VÍT BRUKNER Puppeteer, director and musician, founding member of the ensemble Buchty a loutky, occasional poet, member of several musical groups, teacher at DAMU. During his studies at DAMU (1986–1990), he was primarily influenced positively by the classes led by the directors Jan Dvořák and Jan Schmid and the musician Jiří Kolafa. Together with Zuzana Bruknerová Halušťoková, and recent DAMU graduates Radek Beran, Josef Vondráček and set designer Tomáš Zmrzlý became the founders of the Buchty a loutky ensemble ➔ PUNCH AND JUDY (📍20 May at 20:00, Ridotto Teatro Rasi, Via di Roma 39, Ravenna) It is a slapstick puppet performance with English roots. When Judy challenges Punch to care for their screaming baby, he decides to handle everything his own way, including Judy and the other characters. But when death finally comes, the real drama begins. ✨Център и вдъхновител на настоящото издание на фестивала е Британската актриса Кели Хънтър и нейната работа с деца с аутизъм, които имат малък или никакъв достъп до изкуствата, чрез Шекспировото творчество. 📝По време на работата си тя създава и развива The Hunter Heartbeat Method, методология, която използва ритмичния език и физически жестове характерни за Шекспировия театър, за освобождаване от комуникативните проблеми при деца с всички нива на аутизъм, включително деца, които са невербални. Кели Хънтър: „Две основни теми са в основата на работата: ритъмът на ямбичния пентаметър, който създава звука на сърдечния ритъм, в който децата се чувстват сигурни да общуват. Второто е използване на „Окото на Ума“, което позволява на децата да изследват въображаеми светове, които иначе биха могли да бъдат заключени.“💫 👉През юни 2014 г.
