This is a tough one. This is what it is to walk through the fire 🔥 I used to want to cut and run but I’ve also seen myself justify. I’ve recently come to a place of curiosity about sitting with the unknown like a friend instead of the grim reaper. 💀 Ambivalence in relationship is hard. But when you are discovering someone else and yourself in relationship with them, there is a certain amount of ambivalence that I’m finding I need to be able to hold space for. At 19, I got pregnant and, as a young, single mom, pursued a stable career in nursing. I’ve been a registered nurse for over 10 years, specializing in emergency, intensive care, and high acuity medicine. When my second child was 6 weeks old, I discovered my husband was having an affair. This devastated me, and I blamed myself, particularly my changed appearance. My daughter was later diagnosed with Systemic Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis, and after two years of treatments, she went into remission. Unprocessed emotions from the affair, my career, and my daughter’s illness exacerbated my migraines, leading to frequent attacks, visual changes, dizziness, heart palpitations, panic attacks, and depression. A friend introduced me to the concept of trapped energy and emotions, which transformed my perspective on healing. This new approach helped me overcome my migraines, communicate openly, and establish personal boundaries. As an advocate for patient safety, I believe the healthcare system is dangerously overloaded and needs change. Prevention is key, utilizing alternative therapies, emotional regulation, and mindset work to manage stress. When people are regulated, relaxed, and happy, they are more likely to adopt a healthy lifestyle, embracing a holistic approach to preventive care. No dream or goal is too crazy or big if you truly believe it.⚡️ I do not clearly remember how I fell in love with salsa but I do remember my introduction to it. It was August 3, 2023 and I was taught my first steps at an open-air social. I can’t recall what I liked about it the most but I definitely got curious to learn more of it. Fast forward to the end of November last year, I moved to Minsk and joined long-awaited salsa classes in @salsa_minsk. There I met @jjpachanga and things got interesting. ✨💃🕺 I can talk a lot more about my salsa journey so far, but it is not the point of this post. Here I want to further illustrate my life philosophy and my passion for unlocking human potential. I know for certain that we are unlimited beings and can do absolutely anything we put our minds to.🧠 And here’s a real-life reminder to dream big and do the work. Earlier this winter I found @panagiotisandmyrto_official and fell in love with what they do.😍 I have been following them since. I was fascinated by their work and was set on learning from them one way or another. Now guess what happened last weekend? I did not only take classes from the amazing duo but, remarkably, I performed on the same stage with them at the @vilniussalsafestival I am well aware that I am very much at the beginning of my dancing and performing journey, but I believe that this story is a great illustration of the “if you can believe it - you can achieve it” philosophy where no dream is too big. 🙌 Never in my life could I have imagined that mere months into my salsa career I would be learning from and sharing the stage with the household names of today’s salsa scene. 🤩💃 Not to mention my progress in the past three years.❤️🔥 I tear up when I imagine telling myself from a few years back that after years of hiding from the world, often flared up and barely moving my body that I would be performing on an international stage and dancing my nights away. LIFE AS LIVING ART A few years ago, in an advanced yoga teachers training I came across the concept of “yoga as a living art”. My master teacher saw it as a practice that was always evolving, and therefore as students we must always be open to learning and growing I see life that way too… It is not static and even though it is easy to get caught up or consumed by the many identities we have claimed for ourselves: parent, teacher, spouse, sport, career, etc, we are far more than these. The danger lies in attaching so tightly to these perceptions of self that it can be jarring when they change suddenly. We can then find ourselves in unknown territory: UNCERTAINTY 🌹Who am I without this business/job? 🌹Who am I without my health? 🌹Who am I without this relationship? 🌹Who am I without money? This hobby? This behaviour? These friends? We must all eventually make peace with the unknown as this is where the real transformation occurs Living with the unexplored aspects of life can feel scary. We humans like our boundaries… our brain likes them to feel safe Yet leaving no space for unpredictability will keep us stagnant and worse; prone to anxiety when the world forces us to shift 🌻What are you holding onto tightly? 🌻What are you afraid of letting go? 🌻What scares you the most? 🌻What helps you feel safe? 🌻Where do you feel unsafe now?
