A equoterapia está perto de estar entre as modalidades de prática terapêutica complementar do Sistema Único de Saúde (SUS). É o que determina o Projeto de Lei 3446/19, aprovado pela Câmara dos Deputados, nesta terça-feira (7). A medida, que agora segue para apreciação no Senado, representa um avanço no reconhecimento do potencial terapêutico dos animais e no fortalecimento da abordagem da "Saúde Única", hoje Uma Só Saúde (One Health). O Conselho Regional de Medicina Veterinária do Rio de Janeiro (CRMV-RJ) ressalta o papel do médico-veterinário neste cenário. Como profissionais capacitados no cuidado e manejo dos animais, eles desempenham um papel fundamental na garantia do bem-estar dos cavalos utilizados na equoterapia. Além disso, sua expertise em fisiologia animal e comportamento contribui para a seleção e treinamento adequado dos equinos, assegurando uma interação segura e eficaz com os pacientes. Segundo o texto, o SUS oferecerá a terapia com indicação médica, psicológica e fisioterápica, considerando seus benefícios terapêuticos para diversas condições de saúde. Deverão ser respeitados ainda os protocolos clínicos e as diretrizes terapêuticas publicadas pelo Ministério da Saúde. Para viabilizar o acesso ao serviço, os entes federativos serão autorizados a firmar ajustes com entidades públicas ou privadas para prestar esses serviços de equoterapia. O ajuste poderá ocorrer por meio de contrato, convênio, termo de fomento, termo de cooperação ou outro instrumento congênere para tratamento da pessoa com deficiência. A futura lei entrará em vigor depois de 180 dias de sua publicação e o Ministério da Saúde terá 60 dias para regulamentar o tema. A abordagem da equoterapia está alinhada ao conceito de "Uma Só Saúde", que reconhece a interconexão entre saúde humana, animal e ambiental. “System-wide infection prevention and control (IPC) measures make it possible to prevent the spread of infections and decrease our reliance on antibiotics,” explains nurse Iryna Massliennikova, from Ukraine. “Before the war in Ukraine, I worked in the infectious diseases department of the Central City Hospital in Rubizhne. As a senior nurse, I oversaw the implementation of IPC measures. I found it impossible to fully implement effective IPC measures without widespread changes. Thanks to support and guidance from the WHO office in Ukraine, we were able to strengthen our IPC practices. We received essential equipment to implement systems for hand hygiene and for washing and drying linen. IPC training was conducted for medical personnel, and everyone underwent a respirator fit test. During the COVID-19 emergency, we clearly understood which respirator each employee needed. Implementing IPC measures across the hospital made it possible to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and other hospital-acquired infections. Our department became the gold standard for IPC in the Luhansk region. When the war came, I was forced to leave my home. Today I work for Infection Control in Ukraine, a nongovernmental organization. I help to implement IPC measures in other hospitals in Ukraine by sharing my knowledge and experience. Los virus de la encefalomielitis equina del este (VEEE), oeste (VEEO), venezolana (VEEV) y del Nilo Occidental (VNO), son transmitidos por artrópodos vectores con una particular distribución geográfica y tienen la capacidad de producir epidemias caracterizadas por el desarrollo de síndromes neurológicos en équidos y humanos, con grados variables de morbilidad, mortalidad y letalidad, que por sus consecuencias se convierten en limitantes del bienestar. #BurkinaFaso’s National One Health Council had not met since it formed in 2019 until CHISU sparked its first meeting of high-level stakeholders from across the government. We presented the results from the #OneHealth Platform to the Prime Minister, 13 regional governors, government ministry representatives and implementing partners, galvanizing momentum towards a shared One Health agenda in the country. This led to a decision to streamline procedures for making funds available in emergency situations, and strengthened the commitment to scale up the One Health platform across the country.

One Health, One Vision, One Future! Capacitating One Health in Eastern and Southern Africa (COHESA) initiative took a monumental stride forward in the warm heart of Africa, Malawi. A conference, a congregation of minds, was held at the esteemed LUANAR-Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources. The agenda was to explore the implementation of One Health in the realms of government and academia. The conference was a melting pot of ideas, a platform where crucial topics were dissected and discussed. The question on everyone's lips was, "How can we translate One Health in Malawi from research to policy?" and "How can the government embrace the One Health approach?". The event was graced by a plethora of One Health stakeholders, a testament to the multidisciplinary nature of our mission. Among them were top-tier researchers from ILRI, LUANAR, KUHES, MUST, MUBAS and government officials, all united by a common purpose. Es necesario el cepillado diario con una pasta enzimática, para prevenir que la enfermedad periodontal avance ⛔️. Existen snacks dentales, pero son un complemento al cepillado, nunca como único tratamiento. Una mala salud bucal puede ocasionar periodontitis grave, acumulación de sarro, hálitosis, encías retraídas con pérdida de hueso, caída dental e infección bacteriana 🦠. Congratulations to Dr. Ryan Prosser who was awarded funding for a Robert Woolner Undergraduate Summer Research Studentship in One Health! His research project is investigating the long-term effects of marine diesel exposure on three species of bivalve found on the central coast of British Columbia in the territory of the Haíɫzaqv Nation. Student Jacob Gawronski will help conduct experiments to assess the health of adult clams from different locations across the Haíɫzaqv Nation, the ability of the adults to reproduce, and the viability of the offspring. To do this, he will travel to Haíɫzaqv Territory to conduct field collections.
