Even after dropping $2100 on a medical bill I nearly bought craft supplies I truly didn’t need. It’s the shopping treat girly in me that really messes me up 😂. 😭 EMERGENCY FUND USED 😭 Murphy’s law much? One paycheck after I complete my EF fund. $1377 taken. I have to remember this is why I have an emergency fund though. Had to get an endoscopy. The center I went too quoted me at $2164. Called my insurance who said I’m looking at a Bill of $1000 or so. If I am prepared for a cost I’ll pay it no harm no foul. Called the endoscopy center and they told me the $2164 was for an endoscopy AND a Colonoscopy. On the week of my procedure I called everyday to get this corrected. On the day of my procedure it still wasn’t corrected and I was told pay on full or reschedule. So I pay. 😡 after my procedure myself and my fiancé are told I am owed $500 sooooooo….. now I get to fight that. April was a hard reading month. Lots of family stuff going on and just life stuff in general. The books I did read were amazing and definitely recommend them to you all. Make sure you’ve pre-saved/pre-ordered Morgan’s new book. Her ARC is what made me excited to pick up my kindle again and sneak in reading at work. I loved diving into the new world Elsie is creating. Another visit to Rolling Hills before Simon’s book comes out this week (spoiler the ARC is amazing!) The sun is trying to shine. I can walk across the hills without pinning my ears under a woolly hat. I've started sneezing in a hayfever'y way - it must be May! April has been a good - but hectic, sometimes I’ve struggled to avoid getting run down - I’ve had to let a few things slide, mostly my email marketing. I tried new things with my social media content and I didn’t get results, and I didn’t enjoy doing it - so I’m going back to my old faithful content. 🍎 This month, alongside my main client retainer, I helped @aimc.studio run a creative careers workshop in Selby for year 9s. I’m not a natural teacher, it terrified me - but actually, it went really well. Huge props to Laura for creating a truly engaging, but also important game to kick start a much needed conversion about creative careers. I hope to help her out more soon (she’ just sent me a copy of the game in the post, so I’m hoping that’s a good sign). 🎇 I also got to work again with the brilliant @melastudio_ - I love writing for Angharad, her personality is a dream to write for. She’s also got some brilliant services for fellow freelancers that I would 💯 recommend you have a look at. 💜 April joy brought more warmth, chocolate and walks. I also got a tattoo for the first time - one that I’ve spoken about getting for 5 years. I will share the story of that later. We also built a climbing frame for the kids in our garden. It took 5 hours, it was frustrating, I cried - but we got it done and the kids now love it. 📲 May - it’s busy with my main client project, with us starting the final aspects of the brand refinement, voice work and kicking off the website project. We also are launching the beta test for a community membership for a mentoring client, and I WILL finally attend a @withpassionandpurpose event this month. 💜 In terms of May joy - I’m bloody excited to see my 4 yo in her first dance show this weekend (it’s Peter Pan), and we also have a child free day booked on Bank Holiday Monday to go hiking in the peaks. I wanted to compare the time I spent reading a book and its length per genre. I skipped many factors, like whether the book is a buddy read or an audiobook. Those are naturally faster. I didn’t want to complicate it. Did I learn anything? Not really. I wanted the visuals more than the insight. I love it when bookstagrammers show how many pages they read in a week. It’s fun seeing the variation from no reading to 200+ pages a day. For March, I kept tracking the number of pages/minutes per session, but this time, I’m sharing the total number of pages or minutes per day rather than the number of sessions. Visualizing it was the tricky part because I didn’t know how I wanted to map out the values. The only thing that came to mind was comparing all my pages to the highest recorded page number of the month, and the same for minutes, plotting them on their respective half of the graph. In other words, map the number of pages from 0 to 294 (my max pages) to 0 to PI, and minutes from 0 to -PI. In hindsight, I could’ve made the max an evenly divisible number based on the number of sectors, so I don’t get arbitrary markers like 29 and 176. For me, that could’ve been 300, which makes sense for both my pages and minutes 🤓 March is by far my biggest reading month, page-wise (minutes are way lower), because I read two 800+ page books, which is unprecedented for me. It’s fun to see more significant numbers than usual on my chart, and it makes for a more varied visualization, especially with my reading habits, as I tend to binge-read a lot, which means there are days with little to no reading.
