Heir of Fire Review This one backslid a little bit for me. I think it probably could have been about 100 pages shorter. Here are my thoughts by storyline: Celaena. Her storyline is the biggest problem for me. I think the structure of the series so far is the issue. I know SJM is going for a “hidden and haunted past” but Celaena’s backstory is so epic and heartbreaking, I feel like it would have just been better to tell it more chronologically and really make that journey the focal point. The job interview in book one and the training montages in this book are just really watering down that at the heart of this is what happened to her and her people to get her here. We’re too deep into this to *still* be exploring the WHY. I think this would have been way more successful if SJM had just SHOWN us this origin story as part of the series and left out some of the other stuff, including, and I cannot believe I am about to say this, the romance plot lines. I’m fine for her to find love as the story progresses, but that’s overshadowing the big picture for me and it’s infuriating. Rowan. Grumpy. Wings (sometimes). Tragic Backstory. A touch too much Daddy Energy for me. Chaol. I’m still a fan. Here’s why I don’t think people give him enough grace or credit. Chaol is the ONLY character who actually has to make a choice. Everyone else’s path is pretty much chosen for them. In some ways he’s lucky to have escaped some of that trauma. He just doesn’t trust himself right now. He WANTS to be a hero, you can see it in him. He has so much room for growth and I LOVE that for a character. Aedion. New character. Seems badass. But most of his storyline was an info dump. Manon. Another new character which also came with a lot of info dumping. But Abraxos is a small price to pay for an info dump 🐉 Dorian. WHAT HAVE THEY DONE TO MY BOY 😭 I was going to take a break but I am continuing on to Queen of Shadows because I NEED to know what happens to my baby. Final verdict: 3 ⭐️ I like it. The bones of the story are SO GOOD if you can peel back some of the layers.

And I’m sooooo happy Chaol found someone even though he was a twat to Celaena/Aelin I still believed he needed someone to help guide him to be the best version of himself. But witnessing them go from Frenimes to Lovers was #chefskiss. The growth of both characters and how they helped heal each other is just... I think it's one of the many reasons this series gets so much love. I know Kingdom of Ash is typically most reader's favorite. For me it was close and is 2nd for me, Queen of Shadows was my favorite of the entire series. It was the perfect blend of everything. Romance, action, the death of that d*ckhead Arobynn! Finally finished the Throne of Glass series! That was such an amazing ride!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 !! Between the storyline, character development, romance sprinkled throughout, and all the amazing world building, this is easily one of my favorite series ever!! I went from being really annoyed by some characters to falling in love with them. Most of the twists and surprises weren’t too predictable either which was great! Although this is definitely one of those series where you have to push through the first book, (in my opinion) you then get six other books that are absolutely amazing. Ya sabéis que no me cansaré de recomendar esta saga, para mí es lo mejor que ha escrito Sara hasta el momento. ⚠️: para leer el 6* ( Imperio de tormentas), el 7* ( Torre del alba) y el último libro ( Reino de cenizas) es fundamental haberse leído los relatos ( La espada de la asesina) pues salen ciertos personajes en estas secuelas. ♟️La pluma de la autora simplemente es sobresaliente. Es precisa, detallada y ágil, lo que facilita enormemente la lectura. ♟️En cuanto a la trama, aquí es donde viene el pero. Es muy muy lenta, en mi opinión este libro de 704 páginas se podría haber narrado perfectamente en 350, no era necesario rizar tanto el rizo. ¿Qué vas a encontrar en este libro? - Guerra - Curanderas - Estrategias - Decisiones - Aliados - Enemigos - Criaturas 🕷️🦅 - Secretos - Enigmas - Plots - Giros de trama - Final 💯 ♟️Leer este libro después de Imperio de tormentas te da una bajona increíble, todo hay que decirlo, porque el final del 6* es OH MY GOD! Hay dos plots que son primordiales para la trama del último libro. ♟️ Los personajes de este libro, bueno, no son mis favoritos ya que son Chaol y Nesryn. Al primero le cogí mucha manía y un poquito de 🤮 después del 4* libro, por lo que leer una historia en donde él es el prota pues …no me entusiasmaba demasiado. Decir que dentro de este libro hay un personaje que me encanta , el cual aparece en los relatos 🤭 así que espero que hayáis estado muy atent@s. Heir of Fire Review Book by Sarah J. Maas ⭐️⭐️⭐️✨/⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I’m honestly really conflicted on how to review this because I loved the ending, but the first 60% almost made me DNF. I had just read Assassin’s Blade where Celaena underwent a lot of growth, and I felt like she had continued to grow through ToG and the end of CoM. But the beginning of this book made it feel like it was all for nothing. She was arrogant and prideful while continuing to be awful to everyone while moping around, refusing to do anything useful despite saying she was on a quest. I was so glad when Rowan punched her in the face. Now, I understand this was largely a mental health journey for her, but why I think ACOSF works and this one made me livid is the use of multiple POVs. Celaena had by far the most interesting storyline, yet we had to wade through the other narrators only for Celaena to continually sit on her ass and complain. If the book had been only her POV or at least largely her POV, it would have felt more like a journey and less like 300 pages of the same thing. She treated Rowan like dirt and then pulled some self-righteous speech about him involving another person in training when she had showed many times that she wasn’t willing to care about anyone. However, after Rowan cared for her during her burnout, I finally felt a shift from her, and her journey turned into something great. She still was going through a lot and didn’t care about herself, but it wasn’t static storytelling anymore. The other characters were hit or miss for me. I liked Aedion, and his storyline helped propel the plot. Chaol was good. He had an interesting plot and I like his moral dilemma. Dorian and Sorscha bothered me, mostly because there was no buildup to them, though her death scene was really well and actually made me quite sad. And it propelled Dorian into action though I’m devastated about the collar. Most of the time between POV changes felt ridiculously short. I finally finished this tandem read! It took me nearly two months (we’ve had a lot going on 😮💨), but I finally finished them both! So here’s my review: Empire of Storms was fantastic, 5 stars. Tower of Dawn was just okay, I’ll give it 3.5 stars. Chaol was never really my favorite character, so it wasn’t as easy to follow him as it was to follow Aelin & the others. It was a good story, and I liked it. But I feel as if it would have been harder for me to get through had I not been reading it alongside Empire of Storms. Empire of Storms on the other hand, kept me hooked the whole time, in true SJM fashion. Ther was so much happening the whole time, and I loved every minute of it. When I finished it last night, I immediately finished Tower of Dawn that way I could start Kingdom of Ash to see what happened. By then it was after 1am, so I read the first chapter and went to bed 🤣 If you’re on the fence, definitely read these together!
