Distilled in 2006 at the Glenlivet Distillery before being placed in 1st fill Sherry Butt and left to mature for no less than 14 years. 운동 뒤엔 단백질이지.. 하며 술은 먹지 않으려 했으나 어제 남은 육회를 먹으며 딱 한잔이 생각나 꺼낸 Glengoyne 10yo 59.1% 1st Fill European Oak Sherry Hogshead 바이알. 사실 버번으로 입문해서 라이위스키를 가장 즐기는 내게 싱글몰트는 쉽지만은 않은 위스키이다. 사실 우리나라에서 위스키를 즐기기 시작하며 버번외의 다른 싱글몰트 엔트리도 즐겨보려 노력했으나 피트외의 다른 친구들에게선 특유의 몰트 비릿함이 불편하게 느껴지기도 했었다. Dziś przedstawiam reprezentanta niemieckiego niezależnego bottlera Scotch Universe - Cassiopeia I. Choć nie znam roku założenia tej firmy, słyszałem, że jest to młoda marka, dosyć niedawno odkryta w świecie whisky. Scotch Universe stawia na bardzo prostą graficznie etykietę i baryłkowate butelki, choć nie robi to dobrego pierwszego wrażenia, pozwala na pierwszy rzut oka rozpoznać ich butelkę, a do szaty można się przekonać po spróbowaniu tego, co jest w środku 😉. Etykieta prosta graficznie, ale tajemniczy kod pojawiający się pod nazwą danego wypustu (który zawsze ma jakieś kosmo- lub astro-nautyczne źródło) nie mówi nam zupełnie nic, dopóki nie dowiemy się jak rozszyfrować ten kod, nie znamy nawet destylarnii. Jedyne informacje jakie dostajemy od razu, to rok destylacji, rok butelkowania, rodzaj beczki użytej do maturacji i moc%. W internecie można znaleźć graficzne wytłumaczenie jak czytać te kody, ja spróbuję po krótce wyjaśnić na przykładzie prezentowanej dziś whisky: 121°U.2.1' 1891.2", wiemy więc że: leżakowała 121 miesięcy, jest (U)npeated (P - peated, LP - lightly peated, HP - heavily peated), 2. to własne oznaczenie destylarnii na rodzaj beczki, 1' czyli 1st fill, 1891 - rok założenia destylarnii, z której whisky pochodzi, 2" oznacza że destylarnia leży w regionie speyside (1 to Highlands, 3 to Lowlands, 4 to Islay, 5 to Islands). Rok i region mówi nam, że będzie to Craigiellachie lub Strathmill. Wracając do informacjii, które etykieta podaje bezpośrednio - mamy 10 lat, 1st fill oloroso sherry hoghshead 62,5%. Po tym przydługim wstępie zobaczmy co jest w środku, odkręćmy korek kolejnego sampla i zanurzmy nos w Glencairn glass. Zapach: w pełnej mocy bardzo mocne wrażenie syropu na kaszel. Schodzę jednak do ok 52/54 % żeby ułatwić degustację. Jest bardzo słodko, wrażenie lepkości, syrop na kaszel - Pyrosal, czekolada, wiśnie w czekoladzie, tytoń, krówka. Zapach zapowiada niesamowie dobry dram. Smak: okazuje się spójny z zapachem. Bomba sherry w słodko wytrwanym wydaniu. Czekolada, orzechy laskowe, tytoń, skórzany fotel, pestki wiśni. My latest whisky purchase arrived in the post yesterday, all the way from Scapa Distillery and I am absolutely delighted with them. When we were selecting these casks for the Distillery Reserve Collection in the Blending Room I made a mental note to make sure I purchased these two beauties when they were released at the distillery. The 13yo is a 1st fill Oloroso sherry and the 16yo is a 1st fill barrels both a couple of absolute crackers. I have paired the whisky up with a Doxa sub 200. For a #watchandscotch too. Being a big fan of Springbank, I would say this is the first dram I am really disappointed with. Dominant Sherry note. As my friend said, it's more like a cheap Mark & Spencer's sherry wine! You can't even smell any hint of Springbank whisky. Just put your head into a big box of rasins, it's what you've got here. It is definitely over-done! Water, water.... it is better. Finally a bit grassy Springbank notes come out, just a little. The palate is sour, dominant sherry... It also has an unpleasant bitter oaky finish... I think you can put that away for more than a month to see if the dram would change or not. But for now, it is just an example that the spirit doesn't work out with the oak. The spirit just can't handle it. What a waste for both the spirit and the oak either. If this oak belongs to the Macallan or Glengoyne, it might become a masterpiece. But working with Springbank, NEVER. I love sherry bomb, but not over-done "Sherrisky".
