Moving on from Scotland in the previous post and now across the pond to the United States of America 🥃🇺🇸 This map, designed by the incredible @ju1iaprabucka, shows the two primary bourbon producing states Kentucky and Tennessee (highlighted in yellow and orange) and the overall regions within the US. Kentucky on its own boasts 86 distilleries according to the Kentucky Distillers’ Association. Kentucky therefore accounts for an incredible 95% of the world’s bourbon production. The other large producer is Tennessee in which is located a little distillery which you might know, Jack Daniel’s 🥃🤠 It is good to note that all states across all the regions in the US have at least one whiskey (Bourbon) distillery. There is a common misconception that bourbon can only come from Kentucky or Tennessee but in reality for bourbon to be legally classified as bourbon it just has to be produced within the United States. Therefore bourbon can come from any one of the 50 states. It was pointed out to me that it was a shock that I owned any Turkey products and I don't know that I've ever featured them on here. So with that I present tonight's #BackToBasics! Russell's Reserve 10 Year Bourbon 90 Proof Aged 10 Years $40-$45 (depending) Mashbill (I believe, but I'm not Turkey expert): 75% Corn/15% Rye/12% Malted Barley Nose: at 90 Proof the Russell's aren't messing around, this thing comes out swinging! There's no mistaking this for anything but bourbon as it hits you with dark caramel, vanilla and just a touch of citrus leaning orange peel Palate: still not messing around, you know you're drinking this. Caramel, tinge of that char characteristic from the oak mixed with honey and vanilla Finish: there's that rye they use, it wants to stick with you as a white pepper/rye spice kick, but dissipates at medium length which I always find nice because I'm always ready to go back in for another sip Overall: leans into #DERICIOUS for $40, but I think I would like to venture a step further into the Russell's Reserve Single Barrels priced $20-$30 more before I make that final ¡STAMP! #DericiousProof #RussellsReserve #10Year #Bourbon #Whiskey #WildTurkey #BourbonLife #WhiskeyLife #WhiskeyCapitalOfTexas #LonghornLiquor #WhiskeyWednesday
