Ragazzi e ragazze molto entusiasti e consapevoli che hanno non solo ascoltato, ma soprattutto partecipato attivamente alla discussione e ai piccoli "giochi" che ho fatto fare loro per spiegare cos'è (e cosa non è) la parità di genere. I ragazzi e le ragazze, che oggi arrivano alla fine del percorso di Educazione Civica che li ha coinvolti tutto l'anno su tanti temi importanti, hanno anche realizzato una mostra sulle donne che hanno avuto un ruolo importante in diverse discipline, pur essendo poco presenti nei libri di scuola e di storia. Spero che le nuove generazioni diventino sempre più consapevoli dell'importanza di impegnarsi per una società più equa per tutti e tutte. It was an honor to be in an academic space when Black women are teaching the stories, history, and incredible talents of Black women, to Black women! Chronic stress can be detrimental to your thyroid. ㅤ More Info: The thyroid is a butterfly-shaped gland located in the front of your throat. ㅤ It plays a crucial role in regulating various bodily functions through the production and release of thyroid hormones. ㅤ When the thyroid gland doesn’t produce enough thyroid hormone, it leads to hypothyroidism. ㅤ Symptoms include fatigue, weight gain, sensitivity to cold, joint pain, and irregular menstrual periods. ㅤ In hyperthyroidism, the thyroid produces too much thyroid hormone. ㅤ Symptoms include nervousness, fatigue, muscle weakness, heat intolerance, rapid heart rate, and weight loss. ㅤ An autoimmune condition, Hashimoto’s disease is a common cause of hypothyroidism. Over 2 million women globally reach menopause every year but 68.7% of OBGYN residents get ZERO training about it in school. ㅤ This has to change! ㅤ More Info: The average age for menopause onset is 51. ㅤ Most women stop having periods between ages 45 to 55. ㅤ However, the beginning stages of declining ovary function can start earlier in some women, while others may continue to have menstrual periods into their late 50s. ㅤ Perimenopause vs. Menopause: ㅤ Perimenopause refers to the period right before menopause begins. ㅤ During perimenopause, hormone production from your ovaries starts declining. You may experience symptoms like hot flashes and irregular menstrual cycles. ㅤ Once you’ve gone 12 consecutive months without a menstrual cycle, you’ve officially entered menopause. ㅤ Estrogen Reduction Symptoms: About 75% of women experience hot flashes, the most common symptom during menopause. These can occur during the day or at night. ㅤ Each woman’s experience of menopause is unique.
