We have to stop stuffing it down, sweeping it under the covers, dumping it into storage boxes only for it to become the skeleton in the closet that secretly runs our entire life. How we hold grief matters. I was thinking about how we this yesterday. Met with my graduate cohort to discuss the topic of Dark Night of the Soul. And what came up for me is that we CANNOT allow ourselves to become grief. It cannot be given every cell and still, we survive. We must hold it, yes. But really, we hold it up to the light as @blackcoffeewithwhitefriends said in a recent interview. And so, this is my grief-as-me remedy. We feel it to heal it. Embrace that it exists. Remember that pain shared is halved. Bow in reverence to the ancientness of it. How intersectional pain and grief are. No one gets out of this lifetime unscathed, beloved. Let's not do it alone. In lieu of a FIIL post I thought I’d do an introduction. It’s been awhile! Hi! I’m Mae! I am an award winning author, a podcast host, and facilitator of the Carpe Diem Writers Group. This group is one of the things I’ve done that I’m most proud of because it is so much more than a writers group. The women in this space form a true core of support and we are bridging great divides and redefining what beautiful communities should look like. Some other random things about me: - I’m a major dog lover. And cat lover. All animals really, though dogs reign supreme. - I have ME/CFS. Last year I got terribly sick but this year I seem to be doing better. - I am a cancer survivor, a serial miscarriage survivor, and a SA and childhood trauma survivor. - I love my coffee AND tea. - I wrote PR within the entertainment industry for well over a decade. - Colin Firth will forever be the one true Darcy. #sorrynotsorry - I’m witchy and I love Jesus. - fun fact about that last one: the two go more hand in hand than patriarchy wants you to know. - I’m a feminist. This month has been so full. Each day and week has brought a fresh opportunity to lean not on my own understanding, but in all my ways acknowledge Him, always. To have shared the floor with other phenomenal women was an honour as I led the discussion of women in church leadership touching and reflecting on #Womanist and #African Women’s theologies. My recent fieldwork in Ghana which explored among many other groups of women- Women church-founders- addressing the dynamics, courage and complexities of women‘s leadership in the church were very timely and relevant in the conversation. I shared some real-life experiences of women’s involvement and contributions to the church community pointing out the tension that comes with according appropriate positions and titles. Participants, could to a great extent relate to the experiences of these women as they also shared their experiences in different situations and settings. It was a very successful session which left many of us not only with thoughts but a fresh energy to realise our potentials amidst difficulties. Thank you once again to Chevy Hiceta and the Faculty of Theology of the University of Göttingen for this amazing opportunity.

If you're anything like me, you've likely encountered conflicting messages about rest versus pushing harder. Today, marking my 41st journey around the sun, I want to clarify something: Taking time to rest, cultivating stillness, and remaining intentional in God's presence doesn't equate to giving up on addressing generational trauma. Embracing a slower pace provides mental clarity to make deliberate choices. Staying connected to God allows a deeper understanding of His plan for one's life. Personally, I choose to trade hustling for embracing God's guidance. As I embrace this journey of liberation, I'm guiding numerous brilliant, deserving, and powerful women. Old traumas sometimes resurface, beloveds. I can only imagine it's because good, God and Universe desire that we heal. Integrate, process, digest, hold onto the lesson but perhaps not so much of the pain 🪷 Dropping a few of the thoughts that have come up as I've been crawling through the dark some days - The truth is, sometimes the dark circles beneath her eyes will tell a better story than her words ever will. Believe them. We do not fall apart entirely with all of our ills piling on at once in most cases, darlings. Instead, bit by bit our capacity is broached. And thus, we do not rise all at once either, I think. Resurrection day three a different view than day thirty three or three hundred. Healing takes time. they walked across her back broke her bones to live and she didn't forget chose a different path it now speaks burn me once I'll fireproof the door she wonders sometimes though on lonely, rainy days - is there any other way to stay safe? I don't know about you, but when I'm feeling sad I don't really want someone to say "it's okay" as in we'll fix it. But really "it's okay to be sad." I want my experience to be validated. I want the truth of * this moment * to be honored, not pushed beneath a rug. Being seen is medicine. It is balm for the soul. I don't think we tire of loving each other well, beautiful human. I think we tire of normalized individualism. A world that says the right face cream will support the soul of the mother who was just up all night; the shouts of self care that fill in the gap of community care in only the most minute of ways. 🪷🪷🪷 Which one resonates with you? Is there a thought/feeling or idea you're rising up from today? My mantra this moon cycle is "I see me" loves. And I can honestly say that to honor where I'm at is pretty much the best thing I've ever done for myself. God in me meeting me in the ashes of some iteration that needed to die so that the me of today might live. Yes, retrograde & eclipse season has absolutely been a doozy!
