For most ultra distance races, we need to carry mandatory kit such as hats, gloves, headtorches etc. Well on a warm, late May day, close to home, I really don’t need any of that. So instead, I carry two, 1lb weights in my running vest to replicate the extra weight of these items I’ll need to carry on race day. Do I need therapy!? Dare Valley trail half marathon ✅ Second year doing this race and I bloody loved it again. Still hilly (1000ft of elevation gain in the first 2km!), still technical (I am not a skilled downhill runner at the best of times, let alone when there’s loose stones involved!) and it was hot and humid exactly like last year! This year I was a bit more prepared for that - @saltstick galore! Ultra-Trail Snowdonia 2024 100K Long long time haven’t race with my friends, glad all of you come to UK. The view is stunning, the course is full of fun and challenging with different terrains. This year is quite warm and I heard some CP without enough water later on. But all the volunteers are very helpful and supportive. Lack of training makes me start at slowly pace but I have more time to enjoy the view. When a Hong Kong runner passed and asked me my target, honestly I just want to have a good “hiking” and not miss any scenery. Luckily I reach the last summit around sunset, Snowdon Summit is amazing! I had a funny conversation with a volunteer in last CP, he said I look so good and believe I must finish under 24hrs. But actually I was so tired and doubtful what he said. UTS 50k - I’ve just increased the % of females in this field. My first ULTRA and what an experience. 55km on technical terrain, over 3300m elevation (11,207ft!). It was a hot, brutal and beautiful day in the Snowdonia mountains. The adventure and challenge I needed and one I’m proud to say l’ve completed. The support and people I’ve met along the way to the start and finish line have made this all the more special. THE LAP! Saturday was one of my all time favourite days 💛. 47 glorious miles around lake Windermere; the southern lakes were as beautiful as I've ever seen them! I felt as though there were bluebells almost everywhere you looked. It was a scorcher of a day but we had so much fun out there...the kind of adventure that you're more sad to finish than glad to be through. (Although there's a lot to be said for spending an evening cheering other people in - with a cow bell in one hand and a cider in the other 👌🏼) I definitely bought into Jasmin Paris' mindset about ultras being an eating contest rather than a running contest... despite the heat I was grateful for managing to eat and drink well the whole way round (mostly fueled by mini snickers, cashew nuts and pizza 😅🍕). Everything about the event was so well executed, from the camping, event village, the route itself, waymarking and possibly the best feed stations I've come across. Thanks @thelapwindermere - I'll be back! 🗺️ And a big thank you to J for the cheerleading, positive vibes and generally being the best company on the trails ✨ @tailwindnutritionuk @harrier_trail_running

What a weekend at @ultratrailsnowdonia. Amazing weather, people and event in general. I didn’t manage to get the result I was looking for, but learnt a lot about myself. Very good fuelling and hydration (with room for improvement on the first one), but by KM 18 legs stopped responding and blistered feet made it a struggle. I had to dig deep to finish the race (maybe a good example for my kids about not giving up I thought, they weren’t that bothered today 😂😂). This race is brutal; tough going up and down but the positive vibe, support and encouragement from Volunteers is absolutely outstanding. Lastly, big thank you to my support crew Doctor @daniel_perez_zapata for looking after me over the weekend and to coach Andy from @trailrunwestmidlands for keeping me fit. Español: Vaya fin de semana en @ultratrailsnowdonia. El clima, la gente y el evento en general increíbles. No logré el resultado que buscaba, pero aprendí mucho de mí. Muy buena alimentación e hidratación (con espacio para mejoras en la primera), pero en el kilómetro 18 las piernas dejaron de responder y ampollas en los pies dificultaron la carrera. La terminé a puro corazón (tal vez sea un buen ejemplo para mis hijos sobre no rendirse pensé, pero no les inportó mucho 😂😂). GUESS WHO'S BACK. Hardly like it was months and months but still.... Self management from the physio sign off yesterday, so took myself for a little tester today. A glorious morning in the forest with the hairy hounds to do my tried and trusted BYU Loop, knowing there's plenty of running and walking sections. Luckily thanks to being part time bike guy, my lungs didn't feel like they wanted to come out my chest and really, everything felt good, not amazing, but good. We'll take that. This is suitable for adult runners of all abilities and paces.
