No matter where you start: all roads lead to the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela. Pilgrims congregate, relax, and celebrate the completion of their journey on the massive square in front of the cathedral. They also have the option of attending a special pilgrims’ mass, and of hugging a giant statue of the apostle James inside the cathedral. For me, this was an unforgettable experience, not because I’m particularly spiritual, but because the lady sitting beside me had unbelievably bad halitosis and I spent the entire 45mins gagging. Fun times! 🤮 For real though: I did get a bit teary, both in the square and inside the cathedral. At the start of their Camino journey pilgrims receive a kind of Camino “passport“ - they have to collect at least two stamps per day to prove they’ve walked the route, but it’s kind of fun to try and collect as many as possible. Most cafes, restaurants, churches and fruit stalls along the way offer stamps in all kinds of wild and crazy designs. I signed up to do the walk with a group so I wouldn’t have to go it alone. We had a really great mix, with 13 people from 7 different countries and ranging in age from 23 to 75. Santiago de Compostela ▶️ Negreira 20.9 kms Our last day walking together. Leaving SDC we walk through the park where a statue of The Maria Sisters remains as a topic of controversy as they were quite “cheeky”. We capture a great view of the cathedral from the hill as we walk out of the city and embark on a challenging ascent through beautiful forest walking to an altitude of approximately 300m. It may not seem like a large climb, but with 8kgs each on our backs, it was tough! We cross the medieval Ponte Maceira and explore the old mills. By the time we reach the top of the climb for the day, our faces match the colour of beetroot. We finally reach our Albergue in Negreira and celebrate with a glass of Alvareño each and a large bag of potato crisps! It went down well. Today is again bittersweet as I bid Janelle a Buen Camino as she continues her walk to Finisterre. All of the fields of wild flowers made me, and I imagine the bees, very, very happy. We‘d often find ourselves walking along paths that smelled super strongly of jasmine (is that even likely?), or basil, or fennel, or some form of wild mint. This is such a powerful statement. The first time I heard it, it took my breath away. I'm not sure who originally said it. I read about it in the @johnmarkcomer book, "Practicing the Way." Looking at God, looking at me, in love has become one of my favorite ways to experience God. God's unconditional love heals me on a cellular level. There's nothing to do, nothing to strive for, I'm simply in a state of being with God in love. I often fall into the trap of thinking I need to "do" for God. The Christian life is full of practices- worship, prayer, service, etc. While these are all important they are not the main thing. They are side effects that come out of the main thing. Loving God and being loved by Him. I believe this love is what we're all searching and longing for. God IS Love. The person of Love. Look at God looking at you in love today. Receive God's love for you. No matter what you've done, where you're at in life, the choices you've made, God loves you. Inspired by the setting Sun and ponder on life's journeys. I've spent time in nature grounding and cleansing my body, auric field and Soul. In appreciation and in respects to the land of the Gurabana Gungandji people, thank you. Grateful for the opportunity to rest and digest as I embark on the journeys this seasonal shift brings. Consciousness is shifting, people are being starved, slaughtered, abused and severely oppressed. The requirement right now is that we tune into our senses, the need to care for ourselves as we ground into these realities whilst holding in heart the awareness that we can create ripple effects of change that can be long standing if we can release our minds of our current programings. The times we are in are inviting us to go beyond limitations and to return to our collective oneness. As a woman, as human, I know I am a creator and so it is imperative to me to ensure I tend to my own garden before I extend my resources to others. Like the transition from day to night, from night to day, from season to season, we are cyclical and we are gifted with profound opportunities for growth if we allow it. It's scary, it's unknown but I invite you to journey with me as we unearth and unravel ourselves bare. Feels good to come back online. Honestly, it's been a challenge to share so I'm going with the flow especially when I feel it rising. I'm gaining the courage and conviction to share more authentically about my journeys because they are so intricately woven into what I'm embracing to share as my life's work. Goodnight for now. Доречі, це була одна з небагатьох подорожей без колоди Таро. Зазвичай завжди беру з собою. Раптом треба мені або комусь. Але на шляху достатньо своєї енергії. Бо з нашою групою траплялись неймовірні речі і це не магія. Це просто відображення життя, яке воно є, в тому зрізі, який ми бачимо без фільтрів і масок. Про Таро я тут не пишу, але, це те що я вмію і роблю. Подорожую з колодою і навіть, якщо терміново, готова відповісти на питання. Звісно тільки для того, кому це потрібно. Просто нагадала про себе. A NEW SONG by Del Shields Cowboy Music and Poetry “This old world is quickly fleeting, but its trials seem so long.” These are the words he uttered, as he sang his cowboy song. Then he’d strum down in the minors, as he picked that aged guitar. You could tell his heart was breaking. You could feel his inward scar. As the campfire smoked and crackled, as he sang up toward the moon. We all just sat there silent, listening to his mournful tune. Then someone pulled a harmonica out, and softly joining in. Some dear lady started humming. Her sweet voice blending like the wind. Like magic music filled the air, on that cool late fall night. Above a cowboy’s pain and soulful song, a million stars shined bright. Somewhere in the darkness, a solace he did find. As others shared his dose of pain, with heart’s sincere and kind. The scars of life still mar his soul, but time has healed the wound. He’s ridden many a joyful mile, since that sad song he had crooned. Tonight he sings a new song. No minors does he play.
