May Day Oracle Reading with the Liminality Oracle May 1, 2024 The last evening of April through the first day of May is Beltane, which is also my sister and Iās birthday. Like Halloween is a time when the veil between the land of the living and the realm of the dead is thin, this holiday is the time when the veil between our world and that of the Fae is at is thinnest. I personally often find myself amped up with extra energy around this time of year, which I most often use to spend more time playing in that thinning veil as much as possible. Dandelion ā How can I use my inner strength to help me in healing old wounds? Alliance ā Connect with those you truest to help get you through the healing process, and find an accord with those you donāt trust in order to facilitate peace. Bees ā Where could I put in more effort to help my community? Balance ā More effort is not what you need right now. Putting in more anything is not what you need. Moderation is what you need, or you will wear yourself too thin. Practice temperance, and allow your social burdens to balance themselves out. Garnet ā What do I need in order to foster a greater sense of self empowerment? Inspiration ā That creative spark within you has always been the path to self empowerment for you. When you connect with it, it creates for you a sense of enthusiasm and confidence. Swallow ā Where do I need to more openly display my love and loyalty to others? Center ā To yourself. Love and loyalty to yourself is something that others look for. It speaks of a knowing of yourself thatās deeper than logic and the mind. It lets them see the depths of you without as much vulnerability on display. Malachite ā How can I better use intention to bolster the abundance in my life moving forward? Journey atop Deception ā Distance yourself from those that deceive. This is a part of their nature and will not, in fact cannot, change. April 22 - Mental Health COTD - Finding the Positive Todayās meditation was eleven minutes long, and was one of the #DailyTrip sessions from the Calm app. Todayās session was about escapism, and how we use different methods to try to escape from reality. Some of them are healthy (reading, exercise, vacations, etc), while others not so much (drugs, alcohol, risk taking behaviors, etc). The session discussed how meditation, for many, is one of those things people try to use as an escape, when reality the practice of meditation is not an escape, but a honing in on the present. When weāve been hurt, as Psyche was by her jealous family, it can feel impossible to trust again. Yet, if we donāt trust our Beloved with our shadows, how can we be accepted and loved for our whole selves? How we ask them to trust us with theirs? ā£ļø Aphrodite Anadyomene teaches us that loving, tending, and nurturing our shadows & the wounds in our hearts leads to self-acceptance and self-love. A little insight into our Aphrodite Anadyomene self-love amulets ā£ļø Aphrodite Anadyomene, Aphrodite Rising from the Sea, is one of our favorite faces of Aphrodite to work with for self-love. Often depicted in the moment when she first rises from the sea, she is a literal fish out of water. It was her self-love that gave her the courage to climb out of her watery cradle and onto the shoreline full of strangers. She has many lessons in tending and growing that self-love to share with us. One of our favorite ways to call in her lessons is through the use of glass pearls. Pearls form when sand or grit enters the shell of a mollusk that canāt remove the irritantāso it instead transforms it. Grit that could cause wounds and therefore infection instead becomes softened to the touch and beautiful to the eye through the tender care of the mollusk that houses it. The mollusk finds a way to coexist with the grit, turning what others might call a worthless flaw into a beautiful treasure. Aphrodite teaches us how to work this magic ourselves, turning the parts of ourselves society (or our own mind) deems worthless flaws into gorgeous, shining sources of beauty. When we come to treasure our āflawsā, they can become an inner light that shines so brightly others see it when they look at us; it exudes from us in confidence, laughter, winks, and grins. Glass pearls, often demeaned for not being the āreal thing,ā teach this lesson better than most. Glass is made from heated sand, just as pearls are made from sand that snuck inside a molluskās shell. When we most sorely feel the need for help building our self-love, it can be easier to connect with the humble glass pearl than their costly natural counterpart; we may see more of ourselves in glass than pearls. Vintage history of these candle vessels ā£ļø Our Aphroditeās Ambrosia candles are housed in vintage vessels, and weāre thrilled to share some of the history weāve uncovered behind the glasses. Both of the vessels shown above are made by the Tiffin-Franciscan company circa 1950-1965. The first image shows the champagne/tall sherbet design, and the second is the open sugar bowl version, each now holding a candle. Both are a part of the Kingās Crown - Cranberry Flashed (Top Only) pattern released by Tiffin-Franciscan, now discontinued. We love working with vintage pieces: they help us connect with the ancestors and walk paths others have trod before us. We also find them potent allies in work for self-love and shadow work, like these candles, because of their history. Each vintage item was once loved, before that love faded and the piece was sold or given away. Aphroditeās Ambrosia self-love ritual candles, coming Monday 2/5/24 ā£ļø Our Aphroditeās Ambrosia ritual candles center on building a healthy, loving relationship with ourselves rooted in patience and compassion. The scent calls in the rosy, seaside Garden of Aphrodite with rose, apple, bright citrus, and the salty scent of the sea breeze. Rose reminds of our value and that we are worthy of defending, while apple calls in the sensual experience of both being and feeling beautiful. Citrus brightens dark feelings of sadness and loneliness so they may be swept away by the purifying, salty sea breeze. The wax in each is dyed to mimic cosmetics like lipsticks and rouges, called in as tools of self-beautification applied for unapologetically selfish joy. They are topped with a sprinkle of rose petals, as a reminder to feel no guilt for growing thorns to keep ourselves safe. Each is made in a vessel found second-hand, many being vintage though some are modern. These vessels were once loved before being given away or discarded when they were no longer appreciated fully.
