👑“People doubted my abilities because I was a woman, but I have proved them wrong.” 👑 When Rasila Vadher’s Uncle demanded she and her sister be pulled from school, Rasila saw her mothers’ fierce lioness-like protection for the first time which ignited her own small roar inside. As she grew, so did her roar. 🦁 While waiting in line to test for a forest guard position with her brother, Rasila is laughed at and once she passes all the tests, she’s given a desk job which is not at all what she wanted. With her roar, bravery and love for the forest, she proved she has the same capabilities to protect lions the same as a man and officially became a forest guard! 👑 Being the first woman guard at Gir, Rasila inspired dozens of women to follow her footsteps. She now has an all-woman team of forest guards for the Gir National Park and has personally been part of over 1,100 rescues! @deborah_a_smith_author Lovely story about a little seed that dreams of becoming a big beautiful tree. The seed is growing impatient though and asks the Lord for guidance and is told to be patient, for his time will come, just have faith it will happen. The little seed eventually became impatient and lost faith and couldn’t wait any longer. So the seed hitched a ride on his friend the bee to go look for a better location to germinate and grow as fast as possible. Along their journey they encounter a storm and the rain derails their plans, leaving them out on the road in a place the seed can’t possibly grow. Feeling lost and frustrated the seed prayed and asked the Lord for help. Before long a bird came along who offered to show them the way to the place where he could grow. To the little seed’s surprise it was the same place he started and so he decided to have faith that this was where he needed to be. After some time he grew big and tall and it became clear to him and the bee 🐝 the importance of having faith in the Lord’s direction. I enjoyed this book, I like the message about patience, being too eager to be something you aren’t ready for can lead you down the wrong path. If you’re in a good place, stay the course, be patient and have faith that what is meant to be will happen in time. This book is of course going to be perfect for Christian families or schools... but I also think the message is important, easy for kids to understand and very relevant to everyone, regardless of your religious beliefs. This sweet mouse helps the frog discover the beauty of the world around him. More importantly, the mouse helps him rediscover the small miracles that happen every day in his own underwater home. What a delightful story that encourages young readers to think about how they are all truly miracles! It's the story of one lucky dandelion, told through shape poems (also known as concrete poems). This book is full of such entertaining illustrations that do such a great job of showcasing the poems. 🥤POLLUTION🥤 Contrary to popular belief you won't 'Save the World' with a reusable bag or ditching the straw. I mean, yes by all means do these things, I'm not saying don't, but they're just the tip of the pollution iceberg. We're probably all familiar with plastic pollution and its effects on marine life. But pollution exists in many other forms, light pollution, pesticide pollution, noise pollution, sewage in our waterways and industrial chemical pollution, as a few examples. All of which have far reaching impacts on disrupting wildlife and people. Pollution itself is only a small part of a wider picture of environmental destruction. This beautiful book by @keith_negley has been a favorite of this #babababy duo for a couple years now. Rudra is really into superheroes lately and this book is a great way to remind him that we all have #bigfeelings sometimes. There is so much to unpack in this book… * Breaking Stereotypes: This book challenges traditional notions of masculinity by showing that everyone, regardless of “how strong” they might be. * Promotes Emotional Intelligence: It teaches the importance of understanding and managing emotions, fostering emotional intelligence essential for healthy relationships. THESE OLIVE TREES ✍️🎨Aya Ghanameh Olive Trees are a symbol of resistance of the Palestinian people, reflecting their identity and bridging a connection between people and their lands. And in a wider sense culture and shared community. Today's review is my an 'Own Voices' book. Told from the perspective of a child, Oraib, this is an emotive and powerful story of their connection to land and the culture it holds. It's deeply moving, especially against the backdrop of the current genocide, but an important and essential read. The story starts with the olive harvest outside the refugee camp where they live. We learn about the importance the Olive Trees hold, and the deep, respectful connection the people hold to the land. But this years harvest is different. This year they have to move. Their refugee camp is no longer safe. As one tender act of resistance, Oraib plants an Olive pit on their departure. "Wait for me. One day, when we're older, I'll return to you for harvest." If you don't have the words, or are struggling to articulate how to discuss the current genocide of the Palestinian people, this would work as a valuable conversation opener. Likewise, it is a valuable addition to the reading of children who already have some understanding.
