If you saw my post last week, you know that I think that writing 8-10 goals for a child at a time is nonsense. It's just way too much to focus on. We want to pick the most important goals and work on those first. When they meet those goals, or in 3-6 months when we are updating our plan of care, let's add new goals or adjust the old ones. Here are my general suggestions for how many goals you should be writing. Remember, every child is different so these aren't carved in stone, but a good starting point. Every 10 seconds, food allergy sends a patient to the emergency room. May 12-18 is Food Allergy Awareness Week. How does this change the wrist position? Watch the motor pathways improve. Have a discussion with the child (if applicable), their parents, and the medical providers. Request an order for the splint and present your case. Talk to your admin team about insurance authorizations. What will you need to make the splint? I want to highlight and extend my sincere gratitude to Mrs. Erin Verret for tackling a full OT caseload these last couple of months! She quickly jumped back into serving children without hesitation and totally excelled! Here’s a little bit about her: Erin received her Bachelor’s degree at LSU and her Master’s in Occupational Therapy at the University of South Alabama. She has been an OT for 11 years and has worked in a variety of settings spanning from acute care in the hospital, geriatric care in a skilled nursing facility and pediatrics in the school system. Muffins for Moms Starts TODAY! We are so excited to celebrate moms this week at CTS4K! The week of May 13th, we will offer muffins for all moms who attend sessions with their child in the clinic. We will also offer one point towards the FAPI for attending and celebrating with us. We know that not all mom’s are able to attend sessions and/or come into the clinic, but we would still like to have you participate and earn the FAPI points. Baby equipment doesn't have to be complicated or expensive or excessive! A pack n play is our VERY favorite "container"! ❤️🧡❤️🧡 We get it. Parents are SO busy. You have to put baby down sometimes.
