A Feather So Black - Lyra Selene ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Feather So Black is a Swan Lake retelling. I have to admit I was never a fan of the Swan Lake so I wasn’t sure if it was the right book for me. However when I got this gorgeous FairyLoot edition I knew I had to read it and I enjoyed it more than I thought I would! “For anyone who has ever doubted if they were the main character in their own story. You are.” - Lyra Selene About the book: Fia is a changeling that grew up in the mortal realm. Neither fully Folk nor human she grows up hating her heritage and is forged into a sword by her “mother” - the high queen who hates the Fair Folk for slaughtering her husband and kidnapping her daughter. In order to save her sister Eala from her captor Irian, Fia and her childhood friend and first love Rogan have to travel to Tír na nÓg where nothing is as it seems. #afeathersoblack #lyraselene #fairyloot #fairylootadult #booksubscription #bookreview #bookstagram #readingfantasy #fairfolk #afeathersoblacklyraselene #lyraselenebooks

A Feather So Black is categorised as fantasy and romance. StoryGraph describes it as adventurous and medium-paced as well as advising that it is 'a good fit for readers who enjoy young adult fantasy with a focus on forbidden love, self-discovery, and the struggle between good and evil in a magical and dangerous fae realm'. The blurb is as follows: The Cruel Prince meets For the Wolf in a sizzling fantasy romance inspired by Celtic mythology, spinning a magical tale of a defiant changeling, her cursed sister, and the dangerous fae lord she must defeat to save her family. In a kingdom where magic has been lost, Fia is a rare changeling, left behind by the wicked Fair Folk when they stole the High Queen's daughter and retreated behind the locked gates of Tír na nÓg.  What did you think of A Feather So Black? 🪲❤️ #afeathersoblack #lyraselene #lyraselenebooks #fantasy #romantasy #fantasybooks #fantasybook  #fantasybookstagram #bookstagram #bookrecommendations #bookcommunity #reading #read #booklover #readwithme #bookstagrammer #books #readmorebooks #readersgonnaread #reader #booksofinstagram  #book #bookoclock #reading #readingtime #bookreview #workingthroughmytbr #bookcommunity #booksbooksbooks

Finally made it into the new bookstore that opened up in the town next to me last week! Very dangerous for my bank account but I love it! 💖 Picked up A Feather So Black by Lyra Selene, a fantasy based on Swan Lake with elements of Celtic mythology. 🦢 Quite fitting as I actually have tickets to see Swan Lake later this month! 🧚‍♀️ Also got this super cute Book Worm pin! 🥰 Anyone else read this? 🪲 ❤️ #afeathersoblack #lyraselene #lyraselenebooks #fantasy #romantasy #fantasybooks #fantasybook  #fantasybookstagram #bookstagram #bookrecommendations #bookcommunity #reading #read #booklover #readwithme #bookstagrammer #books #readmorebooks #readersgonnaread #reader #booksofinstagram  #book #bookoclock #reading #readingtime #bookreview #workingthroughmytbr #bookcommunity #booksbooksbooks

Subscribing to @fairyloot was the best decision I’ve ever made. March Adult Book Only box arrived today and it was a lovely surprise, a great way to start my Easter Weekend. I went Pottery Painting this morning and spent this afternoon writing out all my TBRs because I’ve found a way to tackle it in a fun way… all will be revealed soon enough. I borrowed One Dark Window from my local library so will be starting that today as I’ve only got a week to read and return! #fairyloot #fairylootadultbox #tbr #afeathersoblack #lyraselenebooks #locallibrarylove #librarybooks #toberead #tobereadpile #tbrpilekeepsgrowing #romantasybooks #fantasybooks

Review 🪶 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ A Feather So Black by Lyra Selene. Thank you so much @littlebrownbookgroup_uk, @orbitbooks_uk and @netgalley for letting me read an arc of this spectacular adult fantasy, in exchange for my honest review. I wanted to wait until I got my special edition copy, before posting my review but it’s been delayed and I could not wait any longer to share my raving review with you!!! This is a book that so many of you are going to enjoy reading so much, like I did!! It’s said to be for readers who love books like The Cruel Prince and I agree. This is a Romantasy but as some of those books focus most on the romance part and are a bit lacking in the fantasy department, this one wasn’t like that. The fantasy part was fantastic! And it has friends to lovers, love triangles and enemies to lovers 😏. And there’s an amazing little magical companion, I loved so much!!!! What also made my heart beat faster reading this, were the Howl’s Moving Castle influences 🖤. Our main character Fia is partially human and incredibly fascinating!! Her powerssss 😃🤯💚!!! But she’s being turned into and used as a weapon by her foster mother who has a very off way to show her love and makes Fia hate herself. Fia is the ultimate plant lady 😂, I was so glad when she finally did get the chance to be more herself ❤️. She really finds herself and learns to love herself in this book… Oh boy this review has turned out to be a bit chaotic but that’s what you get when you went trough a lot (in the best way!) reading a 500+ pages long fantasy book! The writing is so good (I highlighted so many amazing sentences!) and there’s revenge and deceat and many shocking revelations and passion and lots of banter 😂 and unanswered love 💔 and right and wrong choices and cruelty and power hunger and violence and sacrifices and monsters and so many emotions and magic (some wild and distorted) and an amazing Fae world! I honestly loved and was impressed by this book from page 1. This story is a fairytale retelling too! Swan Lake has been very nicely incorporated into it 😌. And readers who love dark forest settings will not be disappointed! Is this book on your TBR? 🖤

Happy happy release day to @lyraselene 🎉 I am so happy that I came across this book on @netgalley A mix between the 12 Dancing Princesses and the Swan Princess, and filled with celtic mythology, A Feather So Black is a lush and lyrical retelling. It's also a story about love, and how to navigate different types to find it when it's true. Fia's story is one of discovery. Of finding self love and learning what true love is. She starts off the beginning of the story believing herself to be one thing and ends it realizing she is more than the box she was put into. It was beautiful to read about ❤️ Read if you like: Celtic mythology, some what of a love triangle but not really, romantic fantasy where the romance is a subplot but still there, self discovery, and a mystery that keeps you guessing #afeathersoblack #lyraselene #lyraselenebooks #romanticfantasy #12dancingprincesses #swanprincess #celticmythology #releaseday #earcreview #netgalley #orbitbooksus @orbitbooks_us

🪶 NetGalley Review 🪶 A Feather So Black is an enchanting fantasy romance filled with stories, wild fae and complicated family ties. Fia is a changeling child abandoned in the human world in place of a princess, and raised as a weapon to save the sister she replaced. But when Fia ventures into the world of the fae to rescue her, she's met by a sister as complicated as the fae she has grown up among, and a curse it might cost Fia everything to break. Selene's rich world building and beautiful natural imagery made this so enjoyable to read. I also loved the complicated relationships between the characters and would definitely like to see some of these explored further in the next book. Fia's character growth was strong, and I loved her many conflicted moments throughout this story. My favourite character, however, was definitely Corra, who was so much fun in every scene they were in! Thank you @orbitbooks_uk for sending me a copy via NetGalley to review. #netgalley #littlebrownbookgroup #lyraselenebooks #lyraselene #afeathersoblack #romantasy #bookstagram #books #bookstagramuk #booklover #bookcommunity #booksofinstagram #bookrecs #bookobsessed #bookphotography #bookaddict #bookrecs #igreads #booksta #shelfie #booksbooksbooks #reading

A Feather So Black by Lyra Selene is an absolute treasure!! Imagine The Priory of the Orange Tree by @say_shannon paired with For the Wolf by @hwhittenwrites. I’m kicking my feet at the dialogue and the attention to detail is immaculate. Almost don’t want to finish this novel so it won’t end! 🪶 . #afeathersoblack #lyraselene #lyraselenebooks #arcreader #netgalleyreads #fantasyfictionbooks #historicalromance #romanticfantasy #folkbooks

"Books are the quietest and most constant if friends; they are the most accessible and wisest if counselors, and the most patient of teachers." ~~ Charles W. Eliot 📚📚📚 #cozyQOTD: What would you do if you couldn't read anymore? 📚📚 Finished my first book of the month last night; The Cruel Prince. I feel like jumping into The Wicked King as I go to bed later but I also feel like I've put my other books aside long enough. ACOMAF is at work, Midnight Sun isn't calling me and I do need to get more into Broken Knights, got a few cozies I wanna get into... I'm not missing options for sure. 📚 📚 📚 #olderbookphoto #amberandduskseries #amberanddusk #pinkbooks #lyraselene #lyraselenebooks #hardcovers #hardbacks #candlesandbooks #flatlay #bookflatlay #purplebooks #bookofinstagram #readersofinstagram #bookstagrammer #booksofig #instabooks #unreadbooks #ilovebooks #ilovereading #bookcommunity #bibliophile #cozycaffereader #bookphotography #darkaesthetic #yabooks #yareader #booknerd #bookworm

Title: Amber and Dusk By: Lyra Selene . . This book is about a presumptuous young lady who thinks the world should just fall in line the way she deemed. She travels far and wide for a place at court. She seems herself special just because she is a “legacy” and wants to “belong.” . Over all, I can understand the character and wanting to belong but she had been hellbent on what she wanted she didn’t even notice or blink when another option arose. It was inconceivable option to her. She was determined to have money, the glitz and glam of a “good life.” As you can imagine, it doesn’t turn out like she had planned. . . The court life isn’t what she thought it was and though there was quite a few twists and turns I saw coming I enjoyed the book anyways. It’s one I wouldn’t of picked up if it hadn’t been in the owlbox crate! If you are into YA fantasy I’d suggest giving it a go. #teamsunders #owlcrate #yafantasybooks #goodreads #lyraselenebooks

Here’s this months @owlcrate unboxing! These pics aren’t great, I took them in a hurry right after it arrived so the lighting isn’t great and I didn’t get much time to plan out what I wanted to do or say here. I liked the reading planner and the candle but that’s about it. This happens a lot with me and monthly subscription boxes: I get a box because I think it’s a cool idea then after three or four months the illusion wears off and I’m just left with books I don’t really want to read and random merch for fandoms I’m not in. I’m canceling my subscription, I don’t want to waste any more money on something I’m not enjoying. I have my eye on a few replacement ideas that are just the books and not all the other stuff, that way I can pick out a genre I actually enjoy and get monthly books based off of that instead of just YA fantasy over and over again.
