G&S' third night on the road was also their first night camping! Day 3 of the Great Retirement Roadtrip Adventure was another driving day. After waking up in Sault Ste Marie, G&S said thank you to their gracious hosts and got back on the road, stopping before leaving the Soo to visit a cousin of a friend of theirs who owns a specialty meat/food shop, @paesanofoods (our clan, and I cannot understate this, LOVES a specialty food shop). They shared an espresso with the shop's owner who was gracious enough to spend some time giving some information about his family who have run the business for over 60 years. From there, G&S got back on the road, routing themselves to Hwy 17 to drive the Lake Superior circuit. From S: "Beautiful sunny day with a very stiff wind that made it feel colder. Windy roads and stunning scenery. Stopped in Wawa for another car trunk lunch [car trunk picnic, mom! 🤣] and to visit the giant goose. Then back out on the highway for the long drive to the Thunder Bay KOA campground. Did pretty well for a couple of amateur campers. Dad bbqed steaks and we even had a campfire. Campsites are still pretty quiet and not all the facilities are open. Had a bit of a hike to get to the bathroom!! Met and chatted with a German couple who were travelling from Calgary to Toronto. Oops also stopped in White River to see the Winnie the Pooh monument!!!"
