“Echos of Dawn” – Tettegouche State Park, Minnesota, USA Here’s a little sunrise for your Sunday enjoyment, from one of my favorite sunrise-watching locations on Lake Superior’s North Shore. The colors on this morning were more subtle than those in many of my other sunrise images, but the textures were sublime. Tettegouche State Park, without a doubt, boasts the most rugged shoreline of any of the North Shore state parks. From this location, one can see both Shovel Point (pictured) and Palisade Head (in the distance behind me), two of the North Shore’s most prominent rock outcrops. This photograph was make using a seamless panorama stitching technique that involved capturing multiple frames while panning the camera between each exposure. When my husband suggested we get out of town for a couple of days because he had a rare break from work, I gave it about 10 seconds of thought before agreeing. I packed us all up in under an hour and we hit the road north 🛣️ Maybe you’re thinking, “oh my gosh, I could never do that last minute like that!” But here’s the thing—yes you can. There’s always going to be house care, laundry, work, and routines for you to get back to. We could have stayed home and caught up on projects, saved a little money, and even caught up on some much needed sleep. But… 🪨 We would have missed out on Viv lighting up as she played outside on the rocks next to the “big lake.” 🌊 We wouldn’t have seen the most amazing blue/green color of the water that made it look more like the ocean than a lake. 🏊♀️ Viv wouldn’t have had her first hotel swim experience, which she LOVED. 🍕🍹We wouldn’t have had some of the best pizza ever as we sipped cocktails and talked about sports. Here’s my advice—say yes. Get away for the weekend. Or a week. Or a MONTH. Live a life outside of your routine sometimes. You were not given this life just to work, pay bills, do laundry, clean, and cook dinner. All that work will be there when you get back. You can always make more money.
