This may be one of my weird unpopular opinions, but: elopement days with “bad” weather can be incredible. It certainly requires an open mind and comfort in going with the flow, but I love the way it makes you look at familiar places differently. There’s no way Connor + Madeleine would have chosen to say their vows here on any other day. In another light, it would just be the side of Skyline Drive. Mountain overlooks and summits are the default when given the choice. I’ve certainly never even thought to suggest this as a ceremony spot before. But on this Wednesday evening, we all agreed it was the Right Place. It was vibrant and green and intimate and a little moody - it was totally new, and so beautiful. It might be my love for the Northwest that made me feel this way, but this ended up being one of loveliest evenings I’ve spent in SNP in a long time.

One of our captains enjoys sharing a charming blue whale anecdote about the time a passenger pointed at a sea lion in the water and asked, "Is that a blue whale?" “Tumba de Haidara” también llamada Templo del Sol, debido a la leyenda local, que dice que hubo un espejo en la fachada de la tumba que solía reflejar la luz del sol hacia el pueblo, relacionado con las prácticas romanas de adoración al sol. Está situada en las afueras del sur del pueblo de Qab Elias, con vista al valle de la Bekaa hacia el este, y está tallado en un acantilado de piedra caliza de fuerte pendiente, que mide 13 m de ancho y unos 10 m de alto. Los arqueólogos sugirieron la posibilidad de una función funeraria y de culto romana al compararla con estructuras similares encontradas en Petra. “Mada’in Saleh” (o Madain Saleh) (en árabe: مدائن صالح , madāʼin Ṣāliḥ, “Ciudades de Saleh”), también denominada Al-Hijr (“lugar de la roca”), es una antigua ciudad localizada en el norte de Hejaz (en la actualidad Arabia Saudí, a 22 kilómetros de la ciudad de Al-`Ula (árabe العلا)). En la Antigüedad, la ciudad estaba habitada por zamudíes y nabateos siendo denominada como Hegra.Algunas de las inscripciones encontradas en la zona están datadas hacia el segundo milenio antes de Cristo. Sin embargo, todos los elementos arquitectónicos restantes se fechan al período de las civilizaciones Thamudi y Lihyan. En 2008, la Unesco proclamó a Mada’in Saleh Patrimonio de la Humanidad, convirtiéndose en el primer lugar de Arabia Saudí en conseguirlo. Al Ula, Arabia Saudita.
