Two things are for certain when reading a Sue Roberts book about Greece: there will be a rehab on a cute villa and a hot Greek make involved. Claudia comes into some money and purchases a villa on Corfu. Greece is in her blood but she has a good job and string family ties in Northern England. Except can drop dead gorgeous Dimitri change her mind. The romance is tortuously slow to develop. I wanted to jump in the pages and yell I’ll take him since Claudia remains very skittish. I love Dimitri’s surprise towards the end. Claudia had to learn to leap and not overthink life. A good summer read. Thanks @suerobertsauthor @netgalley @bookouture for the early read. #thegreekvilla #suerobertsbook #bookouturebooksontour #netgalleyreads #summerreading #dreamy #greekhunk

📚📚Books on Tour📚📚 GUILTY MOTHERS Angela Marsons How is this book 20 already? And how am I still this invested in Kim and the team? This is an outstanding police series. With great lovable characters that also show their flaws. All of the team members grow from book to book and it’s the balance of the characters to the case that make this a must read series. Mothers and their children. A complicated relationship that sometimes goes awry. And interestingly how what looks like a similar relationship or situation can be so different. I love the research the author did to bring the good, the bad and the ugly of child beauty pageants to life. What made me think of Jon Benet Ramsey was flipped to have the mothers being killed. It looks like a daughter fought back and killed her Mom, but it turned out to be much more complicated when there is a string of deaths. I liked that the side case was a grown man and his mother. So similar but different than the main case and for long time readers knowing about Kim and her mother’s relationship ties these cases into the team. This case fascinated me and I always love reading about Penn. And to break up the tension, the team needs to add an act to the police variety show. They have no volunteers. It gave a little break to the intenseness of the current cases. I was not one step ahead of the team and fell for the red herrings and twists. It kept me on my toes and gripped to the book. This is one of those series that doesn’t get a lot of accolades in the main stream book community, but definitely should. If you aren’t reading this series, you should definitely give it a try. It is one I am always recommending. QOTD what book or series do you think needs a little more recognition? Thanks @bookouture for my advanced reading copy. #GuiltyMothers #AngelaMarsons #bookouturebooksontour #bookouture #KimStone #policeprocedural #seriesilove

📚Your Next Read📚 An Invitation to the Cottage by the Loch (Loch Cameron #5) By Kennedy Kerr 📚Bookouture Books on Tour📚 @bookouture @netgalley @kennedykerrauthor My thoughts: I love the setting in author Kennedy Kerr’s books. Who doesn’t enjoy imagining being in the Highlands of Scotland! The beginning of the story was a bit slow going but as I read on, the pace did pick up. There is quite a bit of family drama and relationship issues in the story. All in all, a heartwarming and heartfelt story. The characters are quirky and engaging. 📚Your Next Read📚 Guilty Mother (DI Kim Stone #20) By Angela Marsons 📚Bookouture Books on Tour📚 @bookouture @netgalley @angelamarsons My thoughts: Wow! What an intense and gripping read! In Guilty Mothers we are taken into the world of beauty pageants. How far will mothers go to get their daughters that win????? DI Kim Stone and her team are busy trying to figure out what is going on. Author, Angela Marsons, once again delivers a fast paced thriller that kept me reading late into the night. I am excited to read the next book in the series! *I highly recommend reading the Detective Kim Stone series in order. There is so much backstory to the main characters that is important to know. 📕📕BOOK REVIEW 📕📕 📚📚Bookouture Books-on-Tour📚📚 Guilty Mothers by Angela Marsons Book 20 in the fabulous DI Kim Stone series and I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of it. Reads well as a stand-alone but you will want to read the others after reading this. Kim Stone is back and again there are two distinct threads with the team working on two separate cases. Well written and well plotted this was a quick read for me - one sitting story! Briefly, Kim and DS Bryant attend a murder scene where the victims daughter is found covered in blood and holding the murder weapon. An open and shut case or is it? Meanwhile, recent addition to the team Tiffany ‘Tink’ Moore attends the recovery of a body from the river. It appears accidental but after visiting the woman who reported the victim missing she is uncomfortable about the relationship between the woman and her son and Kim gives her the go ahead to investigate further. The main case turns out to be connected to child beauty pageants, something I’ve always thought to be a breeding ground for insecurity in the children and unhealthy competitiveness in the mothers, but never murder! The author introduced a character I absolutely hated in this book, Logan really is the most despicable person ever, made my skin crawl. As always the main case was full of red herrings that led me in completely the wrong direction, full of tension this is another cracking police procedural. I loved it. #bookreview #BookTour #angelamarsons #guiltymothers #bookouture #bookouturebooksontour #bookoutureblogger #lyndasbookreviews

The reason I like to read books like this is because they usually keep me guessing and I enjoy trying to solve the plot twists before they’re revealed. This one hit me from the side because I certainly had no idea there would be such a huge reveal toward the end. I felt the tension of Christine as she worried about the consequences of one action that has a profound impact on her life. She worries about so much and zeroes in on one person while others were flitting in the background I thought she needed to pay more attention but I never saw the one that truly betrayed her. One character got what was coming and in fact I cheered when it occurred. My one question that wasn’t answered was what happened to the money??? ✨Book your Book review✨ Greetings book friends! I hope things are going well. I’m finally on summer vacation. I’m looking forward to having time to catch up with life. I’m on #bookouturebooksontour for Murder on the French Riviera. This is #16 in the Ms. Underhay series a cozy mystery from Helena Dixon. I’ve read #15 in the series so I already had a feel for all the characters and their relationships. This time Kitty and her husband head off to the French Riviera, under orders from Whitehall, to locate a missing man. They’re staying in a grand hotel with a view of the sea when they stumble upon a dead body. Soon they quickly realize it’s the man they were sent there to find. They discover a casino matchbox in his pocket, they head over there and meet an eclectic cast of suspicious characters. Soon another body is discovered, as Matt and Kitty try and investigate the murders along with the local detective. My thoughts: This was another fun, cozy mystery set in the 1930s before WWII started ramping up. I enjoy the characters and there were some surprising twists and turns. Even though it’s a series, it’s pretty easy to read as a stand-alone story. Thanks to @bookouture, @netgalley, and the author of this ARC. 📚📚Books on Tour📚📚 Eyes Tight Shut DK Hood I know I might say this every time, but this might be my favorite yet. There are two story lines and I was invested equally in both. They are both very personal to the team. Down a few members of the team for these cases and the stakes are upped. Women are disappearing and then found dead and the culprit looks like Carter. And he is MIA. And then Kane goes missing and his son is taken. I wasn’t sure which one I was more worried for, but I was on the edge of my seat reading. The tension and pace are off the charts from the start. The growth of the characters, the relationship amongst the team members, and the story lines keep me coming back. You would think with book 22, the series could be stale, but I did not want to put this one down. I wasn’t able to figure out who was murdering the women even when there weren’t many suspects. I finally just sat back and read and hoped things worked out how I hoped. And that bombshell at the end. I can’t wait to see how that changes things up going forward. If you like police procedurals and are not reading this series, you need to pick them up. QOTD what have you read lately that you loved? A Helping Hand for the Village Nurse by @tillytennant6000 My Review 🖍️ Ottilie is the most lovely down to earth fictional character and I have a little book crush on her as she is a nurse who truly cares for her patients well being. Ottilie goes out of her way to help whether she is on or off duty, nothing seems to be too much. Now that she is a widow she moves to a new town and the locals quickly realise that they need Ottilie. When a terrible storm floods her house Ottilie fears she will have to move but the community have other ideas and band together to help. Leading the charge is handsome and broody Heath. Will he win Ottilie's heart? I immediately escaped into this heartwarming romance. I loved all the characters and especially the quirky ones. It's a gorgeous story of heartbreak, loss , grief, love, friendship and a community that I want to be a part of. I am so thankful that it is going to be a series so I am really looking forward to more of life with these characters. ⁣ ⁣ 🎉 𝐁𝐎𝐎𝐊𝐎𝐔𝐓𝐔𝐑𝐄 𝐁𝐎𝐎𝐊 𝐓𝐎𝐔𝐑 🎉⁣ ⁣ I am so excited to feature my review of My Daughter’s Lies today for Bookouture Books on Tour.⁣ ⁣ Melissa is shocked to find a note tucked within her speechnotes when she gives her speech at her daughter’s 18th birthday. Who has written it and what does it mean? ⁣ ⁣ From the start of this book, we are treated to multiple POVs, with it becoming evident that everyone is keeping their own secrets. Do these secrets relate to the note? I couldn’t help but try to put the pieces together myself as I tried to work out who it could have been. The secrets themselves were so juicy too - I love when thrillers divulge salacious scandals! With great characters, plenty of plot twists and a storyline that will keep you riveted, My Daughter’s Lies is a great thriller that I highly recommend.⁣ ⁣ How is your weekend going? 💙📚💙 Psychological thriller! 💙📚💙 I’m partnered with #BookoutureBooksonTour for this #newrelease: 💙📚💙 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗛𝗼𝘀𝗽𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗕𝘆: 𝗟𝗲𝘀𝗹𝗶𝗲 𝗪𝗼𝗹𝗳𝗲 𝙉𝙖𝙧𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙗𝙮: 𝙏𝙖𝙣𝙮𝙖 𝙀𝙗𝙮 💙📚💙 I thought I was safe here. I was wrong. This is quite the twisted thriller. There was definitely fishy business going on. Emma didn’t feel like she could trust anyone. By the end, it proved to live up to that with the reveal of what Emma feared. I recognized @tanya_eby’s voice before I even knew who was narrating the audiobook. She’s perfect & I’ve loved everything I’ve heard her read! 💙📚💙 Summary: When I wake up, I know three things. My name is Emma. Someone tried to kill me. And I can’t remember who.

My eyelashes brush against scratchy cloth. My fingers twitch, numb & distant. In the distance, sirens wail. I’m in the hospital.

I should be safe here, but I’m not. The last thing I remember is running, seeing an arm raised to strike… Why would anyone want to kill me?

I piece together my scattered memories. I remember my husband. I’ll get better, & go home to him. He’ll protect me.

He visits with his girlfriend. He tells me we’re divorced. My world falls apart. What else have I forgotten?

I can only keep myself safe by uncovering answers buried in my mind. I talk to my visitors—the gentle tones of the doctors & nurses, grateful for care of my friends & family—I start to see the lies that contradict what I remember of my life.

They say it’s just my broken memory. But I know the shocking truth: I can’t trust a word anyone says… 💙📚💙 Thank you, @wolfe.leslie, @bookouture, #bookoutureaudio & @netgalley for my ecopy & #audiobook! All opinions are my own. A labor of love, dedicated to her uncle who died at 17…a month before liberation. You can feel her deep emotion in the words. This book touched my soul & broke it all at once. I can’t imagine what it was like to go through the torment prisoners did in the camps. Ryan spent years researching for this novel, even traveling to camps in Dachau, touching the same walls the victims did. I’m in awe of her. I love her thrillers & her historical fiction. She can cross back & forth between both genres. It’s hard to write one genre, but two? Quite the feat. If you haven’t read her books, I highly recommend checking them out. 🩶📚🩶 Summary: Dachau, 1942 Emilie’s told she’s nursing evil men. Her first patient’s familiar. Her first love, her childhood sweetheart, in a tattered prisoner’s uniform, isn’t wicked. Why’s he here? Her new husband, Otto, said this camp was for criminals. He’d know. He’s the dr. But Danner wouldn’t break the law. In his eyes, she’s back to their happy childhood. Their friendship, how her heart beat for him. Before Jewish laws were enforced & he pushed her away to protect her, breaking her heart. She finds Otto, for answers. He has confidentiality papers for her to sign. He’s been lying. They don’t treat sick criminals, but murder the innocent. Otto says if she doesn’t help, they die. With her instructions, she looks to escape. In Danner’s eyes, she sees something like hope. She must keep him alive. Maybe alter the fate of more than one prisoner. Will she die trying to rescue the man she never stopped loving? 🩶📚🩶 Thank you, @authorsharijryan, @bookouture, & @netgalley for my copy! All opinions are my own. How horrible it would be to lose one’s identity and have to face an uncertain future. Wolfe really brings Emma’s fear and confusion to the forefront but also her determination and tenacity to figure out what happened, I suspected everyone at one time while reading, one person was super creepy and seemed fake and untrustworthy. Wolfe litters clues within the narrative and it’s obvious when you find what up you’re looking for. I was cheering for Emma the entire time and hoping things turned out in her favor. ✨Bookouture Book Tour✨ This book was a page-turner. Emilie, Danner, Felix, Gertie, and Otto grew up next door and were inseparable as kids growing up in Germany in the years before WWII. The story starts with Emilie marrying Otto and coming to work with him at the laboratory he’s working at in Dachau, where he’s doing research. She thought there were only political prisoners there, but when she arrived she was horrified at what she saw there and more so when she ran into their childhood friend Danner, who is Jewish. The story is told from the perspective of Danner and Emilie and it flashes back to their childhood together growing up in Munich in the days before WWII. My thoughts: This was a page-turner. It was hard to put down as I wanted to find out what happened to all my friends. The timeline wasn’t linear so it made it a little more confusing. Otherwise, I thought the author did a great job building the story and the characters. It makes you see the brainwashing and how controlling the Nazi regime was. I definitely would like to read more stories by this author. Thanks to @bookouture, @netgalley, and the author of this ARC QOTD-How was your week? #booktour 📖 Her Last Goodbye (Carla Kovach) Her small hands tremble and tears run down her cheeks. Shivering in the dark, damp storeroom, the little girl clutches her favourite toy dog. She cries out for help, but nobody answers. Her mother went missing last night and, as dawn breaks, there is still no sign of her. Four-year-old Cleo shakes with fear as she tells the police that her mother, Darcie, was taken by a man on their way home last night. Darcie told Cleo to run and hide, and the last thing she saw was Darcie being pushed into the back of a car. When police look into Darcie’s life, they discover a drunken argument with her best friend hours before she went missing, a dark figure seen loitering near where Cleo was found, and a recent assault allegation against a customer at Darcie’s work. It seems like everyone around the young mother was keeping secrets, but Darcie had a dark secret of her own – one she hasn’t dared tell a soul. Did Darcie’s deadly past finally catch up with her? And will she find the strength to fight for her life and keep her promise to return for her beloved daughter? This is book 15 in the DI Gina Harte series and Ive only read a few but this one definitely didn’t disappoint. It was a humdinger of a read. Once I got the opportunity to get stuck in I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough. It moved at a steady pace that was both engaging as well as building the suspense factor. I fell for all the red herrings that were thrown at me and my head was in a spin. The characters are well developed and I love when I feel like I get to know them properly. I loved DI Gina Harte and Jacob especially. There are several characters and threads that play out in this well developed storyline. Eyes Tight Shut (Detectives Kane and Alton #22) by D.K. Hood - BLOG TOUR @d.k.hood @bookouture Gripping, shocking, thrilling, and hard to put down. Eyes Tight Shut might be the 22nd book in the Detectives Kane and Alton series, but it work nicely as a stand-alone book for me. I was instantly engrossed in the plot and enjoyed seeing some cameo from characters I enjoy from her Special Agent Beth Katz series! When Dakota Slade fails to turn up to work, Sheriff Jenna Alton and her husband deputy David Kane find her body in her home. Jenna throws herself into solving the case. Unfortunately, another woman is found dead and in the same manner as Dakota. Using CCTV footage, she gets a glimpse of a man who was seen talking to both women. Her mouth drops open as she recognizes the man. Could someone close to her be a killer???? There is a lot of action, suspense, tension, and detective work in this book. Plus, there is a thrilling subplot that keeps the book moving and my heart beating at a fast pace. As I turned the pages, I could not help but wonder what was going to happen next! I tried to do my own super sleuthing while reading and was not able to solve the case! Eyes Tight Shut kept me on my toes and wishing that I had read the previous books in the series. I thoroughly enjoy D.K. Hood's writing, characters, and plots. This book had a nice number of twists, turns, and a terrific reveal. A Gripping and thrilling page turner! #blogtour, #bookouture, #dkhood, #eyestightshut, #bookreview, #bookblogger #openbookposts #partofaseries #bookouturebooksontour #Kaneanadalton,

📚📚Books on Tour📚📚 HER LAST GOODBYE Carla Kovach I cut back my blog tours a little because I was feeling worn out. But I am so glad I was part of this one. Gina and crew make solving a case pure joy. I know that sounds nuts, but when I pick of one in the series and read about the tenseness of solving murders, the world just fades away. Just a little. This series is starting to be right up there with Lisa Regan and Angela Marson’s series. High praise I know. Women go missing. The stakes are raised as Gina and her team work against the clock to potentially save the victim(s). This one is based on something that happened a long time ago. It made me wonder if those kind of secrets could happen today in the world we live in with recordings everywhere and so available just a click away. I once again fell for the red herrings and twists. Settling on a culprit right before they were eliminated from the suspect pool. I was guessing and then reguessing over and over. The pace and atmosphere are spot on in this one. It grabbed me and pulled me in and never let me go. So many suspects and such a layered plot, that when I go to the end, it all worked out and made perfect sense. While any of the series can be read as a stand alone, the author makes sure you know what you need to about the continuing characters, I love seeing the growth from book to book and how what the team does affects them on a personal level. I highly recommend all 15 books in the series. QOTD do you think you could solve crimes? Why? I used to think I’d be good at it but lately I haven’t been able to figure any out. Even without any pressure. 🤣 #HerLastGoodbye #CarlaKovach #bookouturebooksontour #bookouture #policeprocedural #serieslove #seriesilove

Hood continues to amaze me with her writing talents. I am as hooked on this series as I was from the first book I read. There are many tense moments in the story and a favorite team member is actually regarded as a suspect. I liked how Hood drew in some of the more peripheral characters and I hope; their stories are added in with future books. Kane continues to be the man with his skills, knowledge, and abilities. AI is a major theme in the book and it’s scary because it’s actually happening. The ending brings a great surprise and a new twist to the Jenna and Dave story. I’ve loved this series, The Doctor’s Wife. Each time I read another book in this series, I’m blown away by how great it is! This series has documented perspectives of different characters in each book. This one picked up with the grown children who didn’t exist in book 1 as they’re leaving home, out of the secluded areas they’ve been raised. I enjoyed this era of the story! I recommend this page-turning psychological thriller & the entire #TheDoctorsWifeseries! 💛📚💛 Summary: The doctor is dead. Now his daughter wants revenge… My mother always felt a big need to protect me and keep me safe. I never understood why. Now I do. I’d heard the whispers & the rumors. Things could’ve been different if the doctor’s wife hadn’t ruined my mother’s life – and mine too. Instead, I never got to know my dad. My mother is a shadow of who she once was. I must right the wrongs of the past. I hear the doctor’s wife is clever & calculating. That she gets away with murder. 💗📚💗 Psychological thriller! 💗📚💗 I’m partnered with #BookoutureBooksonTour for this #newrelease: 💗📚💗 𝗛𝗲𝗿 𝗗𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝗿𝗲𝘁 𝙅𝙤𝙨𝙞𝙚 𝙌𝙪𝙞𝙣𝙣 𝙨𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙨, 𝘽𝙤𝙤𝙠 𝟮𝟬 𝗕𝘆: 𝗟𝗶𝘀𝗮 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗻 💗📚💗 Wow! Book 20 in this captivating Detective Josie Quinn series! She’s a fantastic strong lead female character. You get parts of her own personal life where she is dealing with real-life issues, but also see her professional side as she investigates crimes. This book involves another crime to get invested in. It’s fun to read each book in order, but it’s great that Lisa Regan makes each installment readable as a standalone book! It’s obvious that Amazon, USA Today & Wall Street Journal bestselling author, Lisa Regan, knows what she’s writing in this crime thriller series. 💗📚💗 Summary:
Investigating a road accident, Detective Josie Quinn sees the passenger—pale, thin, a sharp tool lodged in her stomach. She was the victim of something sinister; likely dead before the crash. In the woman’s fist is a paper with a child’s drawing of a red flower, with the word: HELP. Where were these women going? Was the driver trying to save a life, or hide a body? Is there a child in danger?

Crash survivor, Mira, says she doesn’t know who the woman in the car beside her is, or how she was injured. She’s diagnosed with concussion & memory loss, so Josie must back down.

Discovering Mira’s prints on the child’s drawing is all the proof Josie needs that Mira knows more than she’s letting on. A witness saw Mira meeting with a man. Tracking him down, Josie faces danger. Can she stay alive to catch the killer & save a child?

Perfect for fans of Angela Marsons, Robert Dugoni & Rachel Caine. 💗📚💗 Thank you, @lisareganauthor, @Bookouture, & @netgalley for my early copy! All opinions are my own. In this intense psychological thriller, I fell in love with Nelle Lamarr’s writing and an excited to read more from her! 💙📚💙   “Please don’t worry, Ava. Your baby is safe with me. I’m going to take care of her like she’s my own…”

Ava’s a struggling new mom. Her husband, Ned, suggests they get a night nanny for their daughter, Isa. Ava met Marley briefly before & knew she was perfect. She’s so happy to have her, but also notices something familiar in her.

Marley & Ned start connecting in a way that’s a threat to Ava. Yet, Ava needs Marley’s help.

Little things happen that appear to show Ava’s not capable of caring for Isa. Marley may be conspiring against her, but Ned believes her when she says Ava needs help.
Ava must figure out what’s going on, determine if it’s in her head, or if someone’s trying to destroy her.

I love thrillers like this where the author makes readers think one thing for most of the book and then reveals a big plot change which really adds a punch to the story. I thought Lauren knew more than she was telling all along and that Alex was a bit fishy, When they descend ion the Big Easy they both discover nothing about the crime or disappearance of their siblings was easy. It’s a good guessing game. Thanks @netgalley @bookouture for the early read. #myperfecthusband #bookouturebooksontour #books #bookreviewer #netgalleyreviewer #netgalley #booklover #thriller

📚📚Books on Tour📚📚 Her Dying Secret Lisa Regan I have to start with congratulations on book 20 of the series. Now that they’ve finally found someone to fill the vacant spot on the team (I cannot write replace Mettner), I am not loving the team dynamic. But I am sure that is the point. I cannot see where I will ever love Turner like the rest, yet I am also sure there is more to his story that will unfold over time. But I do love his new nickname which seems apt since I cringed every time he said sweetheart. I didn’t need an audiobook to hear his condescension. I also love that you never know who might pop up in the midst of the story. Luke and Blue showed up to help with a search. And this is why when I normally say all the books stand on their own, that I highly recommend reading the series in order. This surprise is explained in the book, but wouldn’t hold as much weight without having read the early books. The depth and growth of the characters is one of the pluses of the series. I was such a fan of the last book being Josie centric in such a clever way, and this one felt a little less like a team effort due to more than just a shift in the team. That is one of my favorite things of this series. But don’t misunderstand, I liked this one. The case kept me guessing and I fell for everything I was supposed to so I wouldn’t arrive at the right answer before the big reveal. The tension and pacing were spot on to make me never want to put it down. While I wasn’t loving the team dynamic, I did love the blend of Noah and Josie’s personal life and how it is progressing. The decisions they have made and the surprise at the end of the book makes me excited to see what happens next for them. Is it too early to be watching for the next book? QOTD tell me something interesting for wacky Wednesday. I still can’t believe my volunteer gig has me training the newbies. 😂 Thanks to @bookouture and @netgalley for the advanced copy. #HerDyingSecret #LisaRegan #JosieQuinn #JosieQuinnSeries #bookouturebooksontour #bookouture #policeprocedural #serieslove

📚Your Next Read📚 Her Dying Secret (Detective Josie Quinn #20) By Lisa Regan @lisareganwriter 📚Bookouture Book Tour📚 @bookouture @netgalley @lisareganwriter My thoughts: Author Lisa Regan gives us a thriller of a ride with Her Dying Secret! The pacing of the story is fast and very intriguing. I was kept in suspense trying to figure out what was going on and what was going to happen next. Definitely not a book I could put down! Pretty much read non-stop. This series is one I highly recommend to friends. Reading them in order is crucial to knowing the backstory of each character. Josie and her team, Gretchen and Turner, have their hands full trying to find a missing child. Noah, Josie’s husband, helps them out with the investigation. I do have to say, I am not a fan of Turner. The remarks he makes and his laziness make me wonder why he is kept on the team. I hope we find out more about what is going on with him in the next book! Because he is getting on my last nerve! I have enjoyed reading the Detective Josie Quinn series starting from book 1. Highly recommended series! Return to the Irish Boarding House by Sandy Taylor My Review 🖍️ A enthralling and joyful tale that I quickly became in engrossed in and read in one sitting. We are reunited with the much loved characters as Mary Kate continues life at the boarding house and I was thrilled to be introduced to a few new characters with a lot of baggage in their respective backgrounds. I have to say that my favourite character is Eliza as she made everything seem to be such a joy. Eliza is a kind hearted soul who lights up a room like a shining beacon. There are a few heartbreaking twists and one in particular had me bawling my eyes out. I won't say anymore because I don't want to spoil the story but it hit me really hard. On a happier note I loved rejoicing with the characters as they found there happiness. The plot is full of love, sadness and surprising twists! Kovach never disappoints with her books. Gina is back and on the trail of missing women who work at the same dealership. Single digits keep appearing and Gina has to make sense of the mounting clues before it’s too late. The action is fast, some scenes are gruesome, and the plot incorporates several different story lines very effectively. I read quickly because I couldn’t wait to find out who was doing the crimes and the missing link that tied all the stories together. Congratulations on #20!!!!!! Josie is back in Denton but a car crash produces one body and a host of questions that have very elusive answers. Josie and Noah’s quest to become parents is a marginal story line but some exciting news toward that endeavor does occur. I found the mystery compelling and loved all the intricacies of the story that I never saw coming. I love when Josie hones in on something and usually that leads to major case breakthroughs. As for for the pain in the rear Turner, yes he provides the irritation foil but I was ready to dump him in the river along with his phone and his energy drinks. ✨ARC Book Tour✨ This is my stop on the #bookouturebooksontour for Courage for the Homefront Girls. I really enjoyed reading this story. It’s the 2nd in a series and easy to read as a standalone. *I read both stories. This continues with the friendship of Betty and Sally who work at the salvage depot in Manchester during WWII. Everyone takes on additional responsibilities and Sally and Betty work at the Salvage Depot during the day and are fire spotters at night. It introduces some new characters rich socialite Lorna, charming Eddie, and sweet and steady Samuel. My thoughts: I’m really enjoying this series. I can’t even imagine what it would be like to live during that time. Most everyone felt a sense of duty and patriotism to their country and they had to take on additional responsibilities at home. It would’ve been hard to live in an area where you were bombed most nights and either had to spend your night in nearby shelters. The characters are great, even the new ones. I enjoyed the camaraderie among the girls and there was even a bit of mystery for them to solve. The author did a wonderful job of telling an engaging story, all while showing the way of life during WWII England. I’m looking forward to reading the next in the series. This book had me uncertain whether I was coming or going. I thought Esther was a really cold fish as well as harsh and unyielding. Even after the hold was revealed that Peter had had over her, I still couldn’t quite figure out the ends and outs of the story. I didn’t understand why Esther made the choices she did at the end and I didn’t agree with them. It was an interesting read. ✨Spotlight ✨ 𝓜𝔂 𝓗𝓾𝓼𝓫𝓪𝓷𝓭’𝓼 𝓔𝔁 by Rosie Walker Ⓐⓑⓞⓤⓣ ⓣⓗⓔ ⓑⓞⓞⓚ Thank you for inviting me,’ says the woman at the door. I’ve never seen her before, but she pushes past me and throws her arms around my husband’s neck. I’m frozen in shock. Who is she? When I hear her name, the world begins to spin around me. Alice – my husband’s ex. The one who broke his heart. But my husband swears he didn’t ask her to join us in our remote cottage in the Highlands, so why is she here? One of them is lying to me. Shivers run up my spine as I think about my two little blonde-haired daughters who are excitedly exploring the house upstairs. They’re just eight and six, have I brought them somewhere dangerous? My skin prickles when I remember the cold look Alice threw my way and how she walked into this house as if she belonged here. But before I can confront Alice, a huge storm hits and our power goes out. I’m down in the basement trying to fix it when I hear the lock click. I’m trapped. I scream to be let out, but Alice whispers through the keyhole: ‘No.’ My heart thuds hard against my ribcage, but I have to stay calm. Because I know something Alice doesn’t. She has no idea who she’s dealing with and she doesn’t know what I’ve done to keep my family safe. After all this time, I won’t let her take what’s mine… This unbelievably gripping psychological thriller will keep you speeding through the pages, with your heart racing, until you reach the final jaw-dropping twist. Perfect for reading who enjoy an unreliable narrator. BLOG TOUR 5/5/24 The Doctor's Child by Daniel Hurst @bookouture @danielhurstbooks 📚 Shocking, gripping, fun, dramatic, and twist filled!!!!! Daniel Hurst delivered with The Doctor's Child!!! Woohoo! I could not wait to get my hands and eyes on this book. As with the other books in this series, it turned out to be a fast and fulfilling read for me. What a fantastic and fun series this has been! It all began with The Doctor’s Wife and was full steam ahead from there! Reading this series has been a wild twist filled ride! Fern, Fern, Fern has been such a fun, diabolical, and twisted character. I do so love reading about her antics and getting into her head. She can and does rationalize everything and anything. After becoming a mother to Cecilia, she has mellowed some and is living happily in France. She never expected to see Alice, the woman who dared have an affair with her late husband, ever again. Alice, the Doctor's mistress, and her daughter, Evelyn live in England. Neither Fern nor Alice was anticipating ever seeing each other again. But when their daughters meet........ I found this book to be an entertaining, fun, and dramatic page turner. As I mentioned I have completely enjoyed this series from the beginning. It’s a little over the top and dramatic but boy what a ride! Would this work as a stand-alone???? Perhaps, but seriously if you have not read the previous books, do yourself a favor and do so. There was so much that happened, so much background, that you will be glad you did. Shocking, dramatic, well written, well thought out, and fun! 🥰📖💜 #thedoctorschild, #danielhurst #bookouture, #bookreview, #openbookposts, #partofaseries, #bookblogger, #bookworm, #thriller, #ARC, #blogtour, #bookouturebooksontour #netgalleyreviewer

When a bachelorette party turns up with the bride dead, it’s going to be a thriller. I thought the bride was too subdued to be excited for the upcoming marriage, in fact no one seemed excited for the upcoming nuptials except Jen, the main narrator, but I felt her enthusiasm was contrived too. The story lets readers dive into each of the party’s personalities and they’re all an interesting bunch. A cheater, a brat, two disgruntled friends, and two sisters who really don’t seem to interested in what’s happening. I wasn’t surprised with how certain elements of the story turned out. Next time, just skip the party and perhaps even the marriage. 📚📚Books on Tour📚📚 The Doctor’s Child Daniel Hurst Every time there is a new book in this series, I think did there need to be another. Then LOL I pick it up and read it and think oh yeah, that was a good one. This round focuses on the doctor’s children, like the title indicates, but don’t worry, we get more of the infamous wife and mistress too. I am usually an advocate of books being able to be a stand alone, and this one certainly can, but it will be most enjoyed in the series. And since the books are short and fast paced, I’d read them in order and catch up first. Like the rest in the series, the book is fast paced and will keep you on your toes. I saw where this one was heading pretty quickly but with the author, you never know what twist is around the corner. Alice and Fern are still as quirky as ever and how Fern’s mind goes, she is a classic character to both love and hate. The daughters know very little of what happened and of each other so when they meet, there is bound to be some life altering moments. And never get too attached to any character, because death has abound in this series. And I think this is the last book (but I’ve thought that before) so everyone is fair game. After four books, I am not sure I loved any of the characters, but I loved reading about them nonetheless. It’s a little like a bad reality show that you just have to keep turning in to watch. If you are a fan of popcorn thrillers, you need to read this series. Trust me, you’ll thank me. QOTD what do you think of unlikable characters? Love them in thrillers and hate them in rom coms. 😂 Thanks @bookouture for including me on tour and my advanced reading copy. #TheDoctorsChild #DanielHurst #TheDoctorsWife #bookouturebooksontour #bookouture #serieslove #domesticsuspense

📚Your Next Read📚 Black Crow Cabin (Logan Sisters Thrillers #1) By Peggy Webb 📚Bookouture Book Tour📚 @bookouture @netgalley @peggywebb My thoughts: Black Crow Cabin gives us a bit of a paranormal aspect to the story which I found intriguing. Kummerow concludes the series with this book. It’s fast paced, covering the last two years of the war. Roxi was my favorite character in this one. She was a survivor who knew how to blend in and disappear at will. Edith and Julius are in the background mostly as the story focuses on David, Roxi, and Thea. I can barely her name much less read her chapters. Thea is the lowest of the traitors and it sickened me when I had to see her name. She deserved everything she got and more, so much more. Kummerow explains what happened to everyone and also who was based on a real person including slimy Thea. Blog Tour 4/30/24 Black Crow Cabin by Peggy Webb @bookouture @peggy.webb.92 Black Crow Cabin: A completely addictive thriller packed with suspense is a gripping, shocking, well thought out, and mysterious small town thriller with paranormal aspects. I enjoyed the mystery, the characters, and the mounting danger on every page! Rachel is a schoolteacher who is navigating life after the sudden death of her husband. She, her children, and her grandmother are living in a small town which appears to be picture perfect. Unfortunately, living amongst them is a “collector" who takes children. Rachel has heard the whispers of the locals, she has heeded the danger, but when a photograph is taken from their home and a tarot card is left in its place, she knows her children are in danger. Rachel calls Henk, her husband's best friend, who agrees to come and stay with the family to keep them safe. Readers are given the POV of the collector which makes for interesting reading. Knowing the thoughts, motivations, and goal of the Collector enhanced the story for me. Who is the collector? What has this person never been caught????? These were the questions swirling through my mind as I read. I enjoyed the tension, the mounting sense of danger, the suspense, and the paranormal aspects of the book. The paranormal parts come in the form of "gifts" the women in the family have. This is the first book in the 'Logan Sisters' series which has me assuming that each sister will have her own book with the other sisters having minor roles as was the case in this book. I found this to be a solid start for the series. I look forward to reading the next book when it comes out. @bookreview, #bookblogger, #openbookposts, #bookouturebooksontour, #peggywebb, #blackcrowcabin, #blogtour, #bookouture,

A new series and a new author for me. I loved how the mysticism of New Orleans wafted its way to the Colorado Rockies. The scent of magnolias was like the do do music playing in the background…very ominous. Rachel was bad ass all through the book. The best part was her time with the Collector. It was so creepy how she held her own against the demented maniac. I surmised her plan based on her tote bag before it was implemented and I got some hardy laughs at the descriptive outcome. However, it was also scary and I read faster to see what would happen. Hunky Helicopter Hank and his Stetson had my heart from the start. The ending was sublime but I must know what happens to the other sisters! I finally got how the book title fit in after Cuckoo of the Crows fluttered in. 📚📚Books on Tour📚📚 Death in the Crypt Fliss Chester Another great edition to the series. Cressida and her pug Ruby arrive at Cressida’s Aunt’s place and tour a crypt and find her Aunt’s maid standing over a dead body. Along with her best friend Dotty, her brother Alfred and DCI Andrews, Cressida is on the case to prove Mary’s innocence. series is always fun and entertaining. Cressida is spunky and independent for the era. This almost reminds me a little of a cross between Downton Abbey and an Agatha Christie novel except that you need to throw in an amateur sleuth. There are plenty of suspects, and plenty of sleuthing by Cressida and of course Ruby. I didn’t know much about the Church of England and enjoyed a little of that history. This cozy mystery series is always enjoyable and entertaining. The relationships and the growth of Cressida and Alfred in addition to the immersion in the era add depth to the mystery. What author or series do you think doesn’t get enough love on here? Thanks @bookouture for introducing me to this series and my advanced copy. #DeathintheCrypt #FlissChester #bookouturebooksontour #bookouture #historicalcozymystery #amateursleuth #1920s

✨ARC Book Tour Review✨ I’m joining the Bookouture Books on Tour for this story. This story starts in Warsaw. Adela and Izabelle have been best friends since childhood, one Jewish and the other Catholic. It’s told from 3 perspectives, Adela and Azriel, brother and sister, and Izabel. Horrified at the plans that Germany has for the Jews in Warsaw they decide to work together to fight them. The three of them join the resistance. The story starts in the Warsaw Ghetto and ends in Auschwitz. This was a beautifully told rich story, which told not just the horrors of what the characters went through, but was full of hope. It was a heartbreaking and poignant story. One of my favorite quotes from the story was “I am made of water and stardust. My very existence is proof of magic.” Thanks to @bookouture, @netgalley, and this story’s author for the ARC. QOTD- How is your weekend? Book Description: ‘Take the key, my pet. I can’t ever go back. The last letter I had from Ireland was clear about that. But one day you may need a safe haven, and it’s the one thing I can give you. Ireland is in your blood, it will keep you safe.’ When Grace arrives tired, tearful and rain-soaked in Roone Bay, the little Irish village where her grandmother Caitlin grew up, she is overwhelmed with longing for Caitlin’s safe, warm arms. The crumbling wreck of Caitlin’s once-beautiful childhood cottage – whose key Grace was given on her wedding day as a secret refuge if she ever needed it – is not the fresh start she’d hoped for. But with her young daughter Olivia to look after and a painful past to hide from, Grace has to stay strong. Plucking up the courage to ask for help from her kind new neighbours – including quietly rugged carpenter Sean Murphy – Grace gets to work making the house habitable. Soon the view of the deep emerald sea has her captivated, Olivia is blossoming, and Sean makes her laugh in a way she’d forgotten she could… As she learns more about her family history, with Sean by her side, Grace’s curiosity unearths only further mystery. What drove Caitlin away from Ireland, never to return? But when Grace uncovers a long-lost letter to Caitlin that reveals the heartbreaking truth, she is suddenly threatened by her own devastating secrets. Grace may have finally found a home for her little family. But when faced with everything she ran from, will the past tear her apart once more? Or will Grace find the strength to stand up for her daughter, her love for Sean, and her new life in Ireland? I thought this was a well written story. It probably was a bit predictable but I still enjoyed it . There were some surprises that I wasn’t expecting. Definitely check it out. #TheIrishKey #bookouturebooksontour #netgalleyreviewer

Freya feels free for once because the cases have all been solved. However, tongue in cheek because two bodies were just discovered! Freya tears around Fawn Lake, convinced her one unsolved murder has come back. I enjoyed piercing the clues together but I was totally clueless about who was committing the crimes. I thought I had a good grasp on how the crimes were linked. Shiner gives gruesome details which makes the reading exciting. The Chief really annoyed me in this book. I don’t like him but I don’t dislike him enough, yet. I’m eager to see how the unfolding Freya Chronicles continue. Three Drowned Girls & One Liar Left Emily Shiner Three Drowned Girls I was a little concerned I was getting burned out on crime procedurals, so I was nervous to start this one. But I need not be as I was invested in this one from the start. Freya is introduced in this first in a new series. And while the reader is a little slow to learn about her, we know she is the daughter of serial killer parents. If that isn’t a heck of a stigma to live with. We know she was injured on her last job and there was some sort of incident that brought her back to her hometown even with it being haunted by her parents’ actions. I like this slow burn of information. Freya is interesting enough that I want to know more and like that anticipation. In addition to being a fan of Freya, I also like the team she has and how their characters are also slowly being established. They are there from the start, but slowly become more fleshed out as we learn little bits of information about them. This case is a little bit dark as it involves missing children. Well, it starts with the death of one and moves on to missing children that everyone fears may also have been killed. This could be a trigger for some, but I felt it was tactfully done without any gruesome details. Amelia Sciandra does a good job narrating the audiobook and the various characters. While I wasn’t a huge fan of her male voices, there isn’t a lot of male dialogue. But she did a great job with the story itself and the female voices. It’s a good start to an intriguing series. One Liar Left While I liked book one, I loved book two. It gave me a lot more about Freya and the case centers around her only unsolved case. Is this a coincidence or is the killer back for more? Not only did I learn more about Freya, but there was development amongst her team, both their chemistry and their personal growth. They are all tenacious as they try and solve two murders and possibly prevent more. Freya works tirelessly, sometimes defying authority, to get justice. I was gripped from the start and appreciated the red herrings and twists. I can’t wait to see where book 3 takes her. What are you reading this weekend?

4/25/2024, 2:00:37 PM

🍾🍾Happy Publication Day 🍾🍾 His Last Wife Ruhi Choudhary Holy cow. A book that starts so tame turns into a wild ride at the end. I’m such a fan of the author’s detective Mackenzie Price, so I thought I’d try one of her stand alone novels. It seemed a little familiar at the start and I was sure I knew where this one was headed. And I was wrong. There were a few zinger twists, that while they may not be the most plausible, I give credit anytime I am bamboozled. While there are multiple narrators, the beginning is focused on Anna and the watcher. The watcher is one of those unnamed characters that the reader gets a chance to try and figure out who they could be. I knew there was something off about Anna and Cary but I couldn’t’ decide if it was that she was willing to move so quickly with a man whose wife was missing and presumed dead or if there was more to it. This hook had me and I raced through the book to the roller coaster finish to see if I could figure it out. Aside from Harper, Cary’s daughter, I am not sure I liked any of the characters. But that is not a deal breaker for me in a domestic suspense. It makes it easier for me to accept their terrible behavior. I loved that the audiobook had two female narrators. it made it so easy to follow the focus of the chapters. Penelope Rawlins and Kelly Burke did a great job narrating and their voices really fit the characters they voiced. What are you reading this weekend? ❤️📚❤️ Psychological thriller! ❤️📚❤️ I’m partnered with #BookoutureBooksonTour for this #newrelease: ❤️📚❤️ 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝗻𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗕𝘆: 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗲 𝗕𝗮𝘅𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝙉𝙖𝙧𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙗𝙮: 𝙎𝙩𝙚𝙥𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙞𝙚 𝘾𝙖𝙣𝙣𝙤𝙣 ❤️📚❤️ I felt like I was watching a movie throughout this book that’s much more than a wife betrayed by her husband. The more it unraveled, there was so much more than poor Catherine could’ve imagined. The events that transpire are unreal. This is a gripping domestic suspense with jaw-dropping twists. @sparkthecannon is the perfect narrator for this one! I love the voice she gave Catherine that portrayed her as the character she is. ❤️📚❤️ Summary: I gaze at the man I love. It’s our anniversary dinner, but within hours our romantic date has ended in murder… I wake in the hospital & recognize my husband’s voice, talking of an accident. He says I was driving the car. He says I’ve killed someone. I wasn’t the one behind the wheel. Tom was. The love of my life, I’ve been married to for 5 years — has betrayed me. Why? And on our anniversary. I need to uncover the secrets he’s been keeping. Before I lose my freedom — or my life… For fans of The Doctor’s Wife, The Marriage & The Housemaid. ❤️📚❤️ Thank you, @colebaxterauthor, @bookouture, #bookoutureaudio & @netgalley for my ecopy & #audiobook! ✨ARC Book Review✨ This is my stop on the #booktour. This is a dual timeline story spanning WWII Italy and England in the 70’s. Lady Joy is training to support the war effort during WWII when she meets a handsome young Sicilian born in England and falls in love. Paige loses the beloved aunt who raised and then she uncovers a mystery after she passes away. This was an interesting story. I learned more about the Italian efforts during WWII. I didn’t realize that England had also treated the Italians horribly during WWII after Italy declared war against Britain. They were sent to internment camps. I know it was done in the US, but didn’t realize it was done in England as well. I loved the characters and descriptions of Sicily during WWII. I’m looking forward to reading more by this author. Thanks to @bookouture, @netgalley, and the author for the ARC of this story QOTD- How is your week going? One Liar Left (Detective Freya Sinclair Book 2) by Emily Shiner @bookouture @authoremilyshiner Detective Freya Sinclair is back in the gripping, shocking, and riveting second book in a new series by Emily Shiner. Dare I say, I enjoyed this one more than the first book in the series (and I enjoyed that one). This was a well-done whodunit which had me turning the pages and trying my best to come up with my own suspect list. In this book two women have been found dead, could this be the work of the Fawn Lake Killer???? A killer who never leaves DNA behind but has been dormant for years. If not the Fawn Lake Killer, then who? When a connection is found between the two dead women when an old school photograph is found, Freya is determined to stop this killer once and for all. It was nice to be back with the characters I met in the first book in the series, Three Drowned Girls. I continued to enjoy the relationship between the characters and especially between Freya and Esther. As with the first book, Freya is still haunted by her parents being serial killers. We continue to see the effect it has on her and how some view and treat her in the community. I hope to learn more about her parents in future books. I enjoyed the mystery of the dead women in this book, the detective work, and the glimpses into Freya's personal life. I found the mystery of what happened to the women to be well done. Like Freya, I wanted answers. This book has a nice number of twists and reveals which kept the plot moving at a nice and steady pace. I enjoyed the tension, the mounting danger, and determination shown by Freya in this book. She is up against a lot, and I thought the author did a great job showing Freya's frustrations. Gripping, well written and tense! #oneliarleft, #emilyshiner, #bookouture, #bookouturebooksontour, #partofaseries, #mysterythriller, #bookreview, #bookblogger, #openbookposts
