A high temperature, or fever, is common in young children and usually returns to normal within a few days. A temperature of 38 degrees celsius is considered high. For best results, use an underarm digital thermometer to take your baby’s temperature. If your baby is under 3-months old and has a temperature of 38C or higher, you should call 111 for advice. If your baby is 3-6 months old with a temperature of 39C or higher, you should call 111 for advice. If your baby is older and/or their temperature lasts for 5 days or more, or if they have a rash as well as a temp or they don’t want to eat or are dehydrated, call 111 for advice. If you are worried about your baby or child’s temperature and just feel something isn’t right, call 111 or 999. Doctors would rather see a well baby than not see an unwell baby. 💚 Save and share 💚 #babyfever #feverinbabies #babyillness #poorlybaby #hightemp #hightemperature #babytemperature #febrileseizure #minifirstaid #firstaidtips #firstaidadvice #firstaidforparents #familyhealth #babyhealth #newparenttips #newparentsupport #newmummy

Got a baby with a stuffed up nose? It’s bound to happen, and because babies are nose breathers, it can make your little one pretty miserable (and unable to eat well!). Here are some tips to help. *Loosen up dried mucus (aka snot) with saline drops or spray. Two drops or one spray in each nostril can do the trick. *Follow up with nasal aspiration. *Get the air steamy. Take your baby into the bathroom, turn on the shower, and let the air steam up. It could help relieve congestion. *Use a cool mist humidifier. Adding moisture to the air can keep mucus from crusting up and blocking your baby’s tiny air passages. *Once your toddler is old enough, start nose blowing lessons. Encourage her to sniff in and out with the mouth closed (model it yourself!) and then put a tissue by her nostrils and tell your tot to make the tissue move with the air from her nose. Eventually (it will take time!), your toddler will learn to blow harder from the nose into a tissue. *See a doctor if the congestion is really bad, and/or if the congestion is accompanied by fever, cough, difficulty breathing, or any other signs of illness. A stuffed nose on its own isn’t cause for concern. Never give decongestants or other cold medications to babies under 2 years old (it can be dangerous). In fact, the American Academy of Pediatrics says not to use decongestants in children under age 4 because they offer no benefit to young children and may cause serious side effects. Repost from• @thebondingmama With Thanksgiving around the corner, please remember that visiting a baby requires some extra precautions. Take care of their developing immune system and don’t insist on unnecessary physical contact. Prioritize the baby’s well-being by respecting the parents’ decisions concerning their baby. Avoid judgment or questioning their choices; they’re the experts when it comes to their child. What else would you add? 💜 how to manage germs 💜 💜 germs are everywhere, we can not avoid them unfortunately, we can take measures such as washing our hands, sanitiser, cleaning solutions etc. Germs are about, and when they come to your little one, you may need to navigate managing these for them and for you. 💜 there are some germs too big for babies such as cold sores (herpes simplex virus) in adults, we need these people to avoid at all costs kissing your baby , to protect your baby and for those with coughs and colds will.need to ensure they are washing their hands after using tissues for their own needs. 💜 it may be an idea to consider asking people not to kiss your baby as a blanket approach so that they are not close enough to cause your little one any c9ncern with potential germs. 💜 it may seem like you are being accused of being over protective but you will be the one caring for them when they are poorly with Germs so save yourself the pain and ask people to respect your wishes regarding germs, people with bugs that could cause worries for you and your little one. #newparent #newborn #newbaby # #newmummy #newdaddy #babycare #babyfirstaid #babyillness #baby #babyvisitors #babyprep #babyessentials #babyworries

One of the most common questions we get asked is if there's ever a time to avoid massaging baby. We do advise that If a baby is suffering from any of the following conditions it would not be advisable to give the baby a massage: 👶 acute infections 👶 fever or sickness 👶 diarrhoea 👶 undiagnosed lumps and bumps 👶 contagious disease 👶 serious skin complaints 👶 inflammation 👶 recent haemorrhage 👶 jaundice or brittle bones If your child has had a recent immunisation, we advise you wait at least 48 hours to avoid any negative effects of the immunisation. The local area of the immunnisation should not be massaged for 72 hours or until any lumps/bumps have disappeared. For your own peace of mind, please seek GP consent before attending the classes if your baby suffers from any of the following conditions: ❤️congenital heart condition ❤️ Recent operations or surgery ❤️ dislocation of the hip If you have any concerns or queries, our inbox is always open so please get in touch with your questions! #babymassage #babymassageexpert #infantmassage #babyexpert #babyillness #faqs

Often called CLUSTER FEEDING, it can occur during: ➡️ Growth spurts. ➡️ Recovery from illness or catch up after a period of missed feeds. ➡️ Baby is approaching a new developmental milestone (e.g., learning a new skill). ➡️ Baby is coping with some stress. 🌸 Parents should not panic or worry and should NEVER self diagnose this as LOW MILK SUPPLY. 🌸 These phases are absolutely natural and NORMAL and will be TEMPORARY and last only for a FEW DAYS! ❌ DON'T introduce top feed thinking the mother’s supply isn’t enough to meet the baby’s needs. ❌ DON'T panic if the wet/dirty diaper count is normal and baby is active and playful. ❌ DON'T perceive supply to be low unless diagnosed by a lactation expert. ❌ DON'T worry the mother because her anxiety and stress may actually affect the milk supply adversely. ✅ALWAYS consult a lactation expert if it persists longer than a few days or a week. Moms may feel exhausted but understand that this phase will pass. 😇 ✅Stay HYDRATED and RELAX ☺️ HAPPY BREASTFEEDING ❤️ Do hit the like button and share it with your mom tribe. We’ve had a nasty week of illness with our 13 month old. One of the worst moments was when she woke up with a very nasty cough and trouble breathing. I had no idea what croup is. Our toddler has never had it so it was a bit of a shock. So I’ve done some research and put together a post with everything you need to know. #croup #babyillness #parentingadvice #sleepconsultant

Croup. Lyra has croup again. So I am resharing my post from last April as the first time she has croup was the most frightening experience I have ever had with any of the kids. This time I recognised the sound in her breathing. Call the doctor who told me to bring her in straight away. As soon as he saw her he said he could hear the croup. So started her on some oral steroids. If in any doubt over the sound of your child’s breathing, get it checked out. *The night before Lyra went to sleep a happy healthy little girl, no sign of being unwell. She woke in the morning with a slightly wheezy cough. My first thought was that it was the start of tonsillitis again. She fell asleep for her morning nap just before 11am. I heard her coughing at 12.30. As I picked her up I can tell her breathing wasn’t her normal. Much more short gasping breaths. I gave her cuddle to try and settle her. But I just didn’t feel happy with her breathing. I called our doctors surgery for advice. They heard her breathing down the phone and said it was probably best just to pop her to hospital. I got off the phone to call my dad and ask if he could drop us in. In the time I put the phone down and grabbed her changing bag everything changed so quickly. Her breathing had changed to sharp short intakes in, like she was gasping, fighting for each breath. Then her head flopped back, eyes rolled and she started foaming at the mouth. I shouted her name several times but she wasn’t responding. I called 999 and from there everything just became a blur. My dad had arrived and helped me cool her down and get her to come round. She began screaming. Which was just a relief. A scream is better than silence. When we got to hospital they gave her oral steroids straight away. Her breathing quickly returned to normal. After a few hours of monitoring the doctor came round and said Lyra had croup, an infection of the upper airways. The steroids had opened up her airways and helped her to regulate her breathing. Some signs of croup, *barking cough *hoarse voice *a rasping sound when breathing in *short gasping breaths in.

✨nine months✨ Trust me, I can’t believe it, either! Another month of many firsts! He’s been to the park a few times and loves being on the swing, and going down the slide (with some assistance). He also took another plane ride and did better than he did a month ago! He can also shake his head “no” and while still pulling himself up on anything he can, enough falling has forced him to learn how to get himself down safely. I’m sure his head is thanking him for that 🤕 Unfortunately this month also brought his first visit to the ER, after testing positive for RSV. It was a very difficult week for everyone involved but luckily he was able to be treated and is now doing much better! He had a memorable first Christmas, now enjoying all of his new toys! We even have the crazy crawling crab, which he’s still judging from afar as that crab skedaddles around everywhere. But swipe to see my (first) favorite little remix of a video I took one day, where he immediately goes from blowing raspberries to some stunned look at idk what 😆 OH! As a parent, you know your baby best. If you notice any change in their behavior and your gut is telling you something is up, it is always best to get them checked out. 🌼 Did you know that as many as 1 in 20 children under 5 will experience a febrile seizure? 🌼 They are most common in children aged 6 months to 3 years. Febrile seizures (also known as febrile convulsions) occur due to a spike in body temperature. The part of the brain responsible for temperature regulation isn’t fully developed until a child turns 4/5 years old so in some children a fever can trigger a seizure. They can be very frightening and distressing for parents especially if they don’t know what is happening to their child. The good news is that these seizures are usually harmless and almost all children make a full recovery afterwards. 🌼 What should you do if your child has a febrile seizure? 🔹 Call 999 if it’s the first time it’s happened. 🔹 Protect their head. 🔹 Time the seizure. 🔹 Once they’ve stopped fitting get them into the recovery position and monitor their breathing. 🔹 Cool them down gently. As a parent, it can be tough to watch your child struggle with illness, especially when it disrupts their sleep. But as much as you want to comfort them, it's important to continue with their sleep training to avoid undoing progress. Here are some tips to help your sick child sleep better without undoing their sleep training: Adjust the temperature: A sick child may feel more comfortable in a slightly cooler room, so try adjusting the temperature a few degrees lower than usual. Use a humidifier: Dry air can irritate the nose and throat, making it harder to breathe. Using a humidifier in your child's room can add moisture to the air and soothe their airways. Elevate their head: If your child is congested or has a cough, elevating their head can help them breathe more easily. You can prop up the head of their mattress or use extra pillows if they are older. Stick to the routine: It's important to maintain your child's sleep routine as much as possible, even when they're sick. Stick to the same bedtime and wake-up time, and follow the same steps you normally would, such as a bath or story time. Comfort them without picking them up every time: If your child is crying or fussing, try to comfort them without picking them up. You can soothe them by rubbing their back or speaking softly to them. Remember, sleep training takes time and consistency, so it's important to stay on track even when your child is sick. By following these tips, you can help your sick child sleep better while still maintaining their sleep training progress. #sleeptips #sleeptrainingtips #babyillness #motherscomfort #sleepstruggles #sleepproblems #certifiedsleepconsultantsingapore #sleepconsultantforhiresingapore

Croup You always hear about how your maternal instinct will kick in when somethings wrong, I often wondered how you would know. But yesterday I just reacted to what Lyra needed, my maternal instinct knowing best. The night before Lyra went to sleep a happy healthy little girl, no sign of being unwell. Some signs of croup, *barking cough *hoarse voice *a rasping sound when breathing in *short gasping breaths in. Both the paramedics and doctors said it was totally the right thing to get her in to hospital. The doctor said the parents know a child best and know when they sound like their breathing is abnormal. It’s better to get them checked over if you are in any doubt. #forevergratefulforthenhs

Is baby sick? When a baby is sick, there are likely to be symptoms or signs of illness other than crying. If you see signs such as a change in baby's level of activity or a change in skin color, call baby's pediatrician. When you call be prepared to answer questions about your baby. Here's a few checklist things that may help with questions. Does baby have a fever? What's the temperature? Has baby's activity changed? Is baby feeding well? How often is baby being fed? Does baby have cough/runny nose? Is baby irritable or suddenly very fussy? Is there blood or mucus in baby's bowel movements? Is baby vomiting? How soon after feeding does baby vomiting? Has baby's skin color changed on face, chest, hands or feet? It is very important NOT to give newborn baby any medicine until you talk to the baby's pediatrician. #midwife #birth #doulas #postpartum #illness #babyillness #newborn #birth #pregnancy #newborncarespecialist #sick #infant #illnesschecklist #cna #nurse #pediatric #pediatrician

This little man had been sleeping really well and then after a bad illness he went to waking hourly, sometimes more frequently every night, and having up to 10 wakings in a night. This carried on for months. While it is normal for babies to wake frequently, maybe even every couple of hours in the night for the first year, there is a point where it may be worth exploring if something more is going on, and this mother's intuition said there was. His body was just struggling to rebalance and settle itself after the illness, so one session of craniosacral therapy was all he needed to reregulate his nervous system and get back to feeling well. When our nervous system gets triggered into a stressed state (illness can be a stressor to the body) it can sometimes struggle to reregulate itself. When the parents are completely run down from no sleep and ongoing life commitments, then I'm always happy to help see if we can get everyone back on track. I offer craniosacral sessions for all ages, including parents, and I also offer a mama & baby treatment to help settle you both simultaneously. The latter is a great early days session to start your journey off positively and to settle any settling birth stress impacting yours and baby's body systems. Dankjewel hiervoor! ❤️❤️ En bedankt aan alle broeders en zusters en de pedagogisch werkers van @kinderafdeling_maasstadzknhuis . My little one currently has Roseola and it has me thinking a lot about sleep and illness. Your little one might sleep more when sick. This is OKAY! Many sleep consultants promote waking your child from their nap, even when sick, to keep to a routine. I disagree. As always, you know your little one best. If you believe that they are fighting an illness. Let them sleep as long as they need to. We all need extra rest when we are sick. My little one has been napping for 3 hours and naturally your first thought might be “what if he doesn’t sleep well at night after such a long nap?” Well let me tell you, he has been sleeping at least 13 hours overnight, regardless of the 3 hour nap. His little body needs rest while he recovers and that’s what I will give him. Of course, sometimes your little ones sleep will derail when sick. This is also normal. Try your best to promote sleep where you can but don’t be hard on yourself if things dont go to plan. Support and comfort your baby and things will fall back into place eventually. How have you found your baby or child’s sleep change during periods of Illness? #sleep #sleepconsult #sleepconsultant #sleeptips #babysleep #babysleeptips #sleephelp #sleepadvice #sleepwhensick #babyillness #babyhealth

This sweet angel was sick with a fever for almost 5 days. We went to urgent care today and they couldn’t find the cause of the fever, but they did give him some ibuprofen and it worked within an hour. He was smiling and playing with no fever. It was wonderful to see the light at the end of the sicknesses tunnel for this beautiful boy. #SickBaby #GetWellSoon #BabyIllness #PrayForBaby #BabyHealth #BabyFever #BabyFlu #BabyCold #BabyHospital #BabyCare

#motherhood #momlife #sadmom #sadmoment #hospital #child #baby #babyboy #love #mysonshine #endlesslove #son #babyillness #takingcareofbaby #hospitallife

Illness is on my mind this week, mostly because my own kids have been constantly sick since Halloween. I understand how frustrating this can be as a parent who has finally begun to see progress with sleep training. Just when baby is finally sleeping through the night— BAM! They get knocked down with a cold, influenza, RSV, strep throat, or a stomach bug. (Can you see how our winter has been going?) Suddenly that hard-worked-for glass of wine and Netflix night turns into multiple night wakings. So how do we handle this and not move backwards? Check out my latest blog for pointers on how to navigate! #sleepcoach #babysleep #babyillness #nightwakings #brokensleep #tiredmommy #babysleeptips

*STREP AND SCARLET FEVER* Haven't been on here in a little while. I thought I'd come on and highlight the signs/symptoms of strep and scarlet fever as our little man has had it this week. Sun 15th Jan - totally average day, nothing strange or startling. Sunday night, Albie slept the whole night through. To everyone else, this is a blessing. To us, this was odd. It's never happened and I knew something was up. Albie woke on Monday at 6am absolutely boiling! His temperature was 38.2 and rising and was gradually getting a rash all over. 16/01/23 - called doc at opening and got appt for 10am. Checked Albie all over and diagnosed with scarlet fever and potential tonsillitis. Said his throat was extremely swollen and inflamed. Prescribed clarithromycin x 2 daily. 17/01/23 - called doc again as rash so much worse and suspected allergic reaction to the antibiotic - lips, hands and feet swole up after 1 dose. Confirmed strep/scarlet fever and changed antibiotic to amoxicillin x 3 daily. Overall, Albie's sleep has been extremely poor this week with two nights he was awake from just after midnight squealing and crying in pain. It's just been a cycle of antibiotics and pain relief every so many hours, which is a major struggle as he point blank refuses it. The rash on chest and back is now gone but legs' spots are now more like blisters and we're just continuing to use calamine lotion to calm it down. His eating and drinking has started to pick up but he's a good bit off being back to his self again. It's been an extremely tough week, but most importantly, he's on the mend. Trust your gut and if you think something isn't right (in our case Albie sleeping all night through 🙈), then it probably isn't. GIVING MEDICATION TO TODDLERS ⁣ ⁣ I was given so many suggestions when I asked how best to get Bryce to take horrid tasting antibiotics (he takes calpol from a syringe just fine), and wanted to share them for you all so that one of them may help you if struggling:⁣ ⁣ Half calpol / half medicine 2.5ml each = 5ml syringe⁣ Give medication in 1ml doses one after the other and they’ll be less likely to spit it out due to low volume⁣  ⁣ Food Suggestions:⁣ Yoghurt⁣ Fruit pouch⁣ Jam⁣ Chocolate custard etc.⁣ With sprinkles on a spoon⁣ Chocolate before / after⁣ Peanut butter to coat the tongue⁣ Icing sugar⁣ Weetabix⁣  ⁣ Liquid Suggestions:⁣ Milk⁣ Diluting juice⁣ Fresh juice – apple or orange⁣ Fizzy juice even⁣  ⁣ If your baby takes a dummy – pass medicine through a bottle teat (you can buy them specifically for medicine on Amazon).⁣  ⁣ Pretend it’s a juice box (reel shared in ‘Medication’ highlight).⁣  ⁣ Ask them to drink it out of cup or off of a spoon instead of syringe – different options may appeal better to them.⁣  ⁣ Ask for flavoured medication – there are sometimes other options.⁣  ⁣ The most effective method, if all else fails:⁣ Insert syringe right down the side of the cheek, at the back of the teeth and inject. Then blow on their face once as it forces them to swallow (paediatric advice).⁣  ⁣ NOTHING worked with Bryce – I was getting ready to phone doctor to ask for a different option but thankfully his swab for Strep A came back negative so I stopped trying to administer the antibiotics.⁣  ⁣ Suppositories are another potential option if you’re really struggling.⁣ ⁣ Check out my ‘Medication’ highlight for a few of these options demonstrated by Healthcare Professionals and others. ⁣ ____________⁣ #toddlers #mumlife #newmum#newmummy#scottishbloggers #scottishmum #scottishmums #mumlife #mummyblogger #mummybloggeruk #mumbloggeruk #glasgowmummy #glasgowmum #ukmum #ukmums #ukmummyblogger #ukmummy #ukmumsquad #antibiotics #medication #toddlerlife #handfootmouth #strepa #scarlettfever #illness #babyillness

Catnip Did you know that although catnip tends to send cats into spasms of pleasure, it’s also an excellent calming herb for people and can be used to relieve all manners of stress. In particular, it’s extremely effective at lowering fever and relieving the pain of teething. It also can be used to as a restorative digestive aid to relieve indigestion, diarrhea and colic. Herbal Tranquillity has been created from our experiences as 1st time parents and difficulties associated with this. Our beautiful baby girl had a number of issues that could not be cured with mainstream products, which led to us conducting extensive research to find cures for her. Through this research we found that ancient remedies have been abandoned over time and replaced with chemical replacements that do not have such profound effect. It is our mission to share this information and ultimately produce natural organic products that will relieve the stress/pain that babies, toddlers and children go through when ill/distressed. What a difference a week makes.... Little did I know that when I woke up with what I thought was a bad hangover and a mega spot on my forehead I actually had shingles.... ON MY FACE!! Took me over 5 days to work out why I felt so bad, now look at the state of me 😆😆 I was preoccupied as Leo has been unwell this week and I have spent 2 days in 2 different hospitals... we are finally on the upward trajectory out of the hell hole that has been this week... Thanks to everyone who has checked in, helped out, dropped off pick me ups. They say it takes a village to raise a child and let me tell you, my village has been amazing this week. 😷 Both my children have had cold this past few weeks on and off. I have a few tips to help you get through the sleep with illness. 😴 It is okay to get out of your normal sleep routine. This may mean your child napping on you, in the pushchair or car just to try and catch up on much needed sleep. 🧪 Stock up on medicines and a thermometer at home. Also handy to take a bottle of calpol upstairs with you at bedtime should your child need it again in the night then you don't need to go hunting through cupboards. 🔌 Vics Vapor plugs are great for the child's room- they sell lots of different ones on Amazon/ supermarkets. I also rub baby vics on baby's feet 😴 Children over 2 can have vics rubbed into their chest to help them breath. A few drops of Albis oil on cot sheet also helps. 💤 I don't believe in capping naps when your child is poorly - let them sleep as long as they need to. Their bodies need to rest to recover. 🔁 Routines can be fixed when your little one is starting to feel better so don't worry in the short term about routine. ⏰ Some things I do recommend you try and stick to the same bedtime routine and bedtime. Keep the first wake window what it was before the illness. 🛏️ Keep your child in their regular sleep space as much as possible, definitely for nighttime. 🔊 Make sure your baby monitor is on loud so you can listen out for your little one. If you are really concerned then pull a mattress onto your child's floor to keep a closer eye on them and sleep nearby. 💧 Hydration during the day is really important. 🛁 Have a relaxing bedtime routine: Nice warm bath, I use Asda little angels Vapor bath which is great for decongestion. 🌡️🤒If your little one has a fever be careful not to overdress them as baby's and children can overheat quickly. 👩‍⚕️ Stay on top of medications and seek medical advice if you have any concerns. 🚨 🩺 🥰 Most importantly.... Lots of cuddles #babysleeptips #sleeptips #needsleep #babyillness #tipsforparents #insta #instagood #instagram #baby #babysleep #babysleepconsultant #babysleepcoach #babysleepexpert #toddlergram #toddler #toddlermom #tiredparents #tired #tiredasamother #tiredbaby #

Illness, teething and sleep. Sleep regression is with illness and teething are inevitable, there are so many bugs around at the moment that they are almost impossible to avoid. There are some things that you can do to help your babies through these times: ✅ Independent sleep is the best way to avoid big regressions. If you are still helping your baby go to sleep then regressions will hit much harder. There is a free to access workshop to help you with this in my profile. ✅ Try and regress as little as possible, and practice your baby sleeping as they usually would at least one to two times in 24 hours. ✅ Avoid letting the regression go on longer than your baby is poorly. Once they are eating well and not clingy get back on track with sleep. If you need more tips there is a full course ( link in bio) to help. Please do ask any questions. 🦠 When babies are sick, it is important to not get hung up on a feeding schedule during this time. 🦠 When babies have a respiratory illness it can be hard for them to breathe and eat at the same time. Make sure your baby is eating frequently, however the feedings may be short. Allow your baby to take frequent breaks during the feeding so they don't have to works so hard to keep their oxygen levels at a normal limit. Babies tummies can also fill with air when they are sick depending on how they are breathing. Feeding your baby small amounts frequently can help reduce the chances of spitting up. 🦠 It is VERY important to monitor wet and soiled diapers when your baby is sick to make sure they are staying hydrated. 👉🏻 Follow us @newborncare101 👉🏻 Tap ❤️ 👉🏻 Tag and share with your friends! #baby #babycare #newborn #newborncare #lactation #lactationeducation #education #newbornfacts #newborneducation #mamatobe #mothertobe #newborntips #lactationtips #mom #mother #postpartum #nursery #newbaby #newparents #parenthood #raisingtinyhumans #realmotherhood #expectingmom #feedingbaby #babynurse #registerednurse #specialcare #sickness #babyillness

Conjunctivitis 👀 This is a common eye condition that affects little ones. It is usually cause by an infection or allergies. What to do: ✔️ Ensure your child is washing their hands regularly. ✔️ Gently wipe the eye with cool boiled water and a clean cotton wool pad. Wipe only once, not back and forth. ✔️ Wash bed sheets and pillow cases. ✔️ Some evidence suggest cleaning the eye with breastmilk. When to seek medical help: 🔺️ If baby is less than 28 days old. 🔺️ If symptoms haven't cleared up in 2 weeks. 🔺️ If eye is swollen and painful. . . . . . . . . . . . #conjunctivitis #childillness #pinkeye #poorly #sick #sickchild #unwell #poorlybaby #toddlerlife #mumlife #dadlife #parenting #parenthood #parentlife #newborn #babyillness

Cow's Milk Protein Allergy (CMPA) is the most common food allergy in infants and children. With such a wide range of symptoms, recognising CMPA can be a challenge! 😅 It's particularly difficult when symptoms are similar to the expected behavior of your baby or when they overlap with other common problems. If your baby is experiencing CMPA symptoms, it can be a very anxious and worrying time for you as a parent so contact your GP as soon as possible. Thankfully, once diagnosed, CMPA can be easily managed through diet 🍼

Cold season is upon us! Babies put everything in their mouths, and have no immunity to the common cold, so it's no wonder they pick up so many. Around 8 a year according to the NHS. There are things that can help (including yoga as it boosts the immune system, woo!) Babies with a cold will need holding more, more skin to skin and may want to feed more. Please do respond to this, think what it's like when you have a sore throat! If you're breastfeeding the amazing thing is your body produces special milk to help your baby's immune system. No need to give water, or cold or cough remedies. Check with a pharmacist. If you are concerned about symptoms though speak to your GP. There is more advice here https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/baby/health/colds-coughs-and-ear-infections-in-children/ As for yoga classes, please use your judgement. If you yourself are unwell or your little one just wants cuddles, if you think you risk passing illness to others in the room, then please stay at home, you can join on zoom or make up with an alternative class. If you think it may be covid you should do a test at home. However we do have ventilation and we are back to "normal times", we don't get up really close or share equipment! So if your baby is recovering from a little sniffle and otherwise okay then it is different. So, be sensible and stay safe. I hope you keep well and healthy this Autumn! #stayzenmuma #babyyoga #babycolds #staywell #newbaby #newmumnorwich #norwichmums #mybaby #babyillness
