Laggan Bay, a new whisky distillery being developed by Ian Macleod Distillers in collaboration with The Islay Boys, will become the 12th distillery on Islay. It will join the ranks of Ardbeg, Ardnahoe, Bowmore, Bruichladdich, Bunnahabhain, Caol Ila, Kilchoman, Lagavulin, Laphroaig, Portintruan from Elixir Distillers, and Port Ellen, which recently reopened in March after being closed for 40 years.

And so I did a shooting of Johnnie Walker Blue Label in Malta! That was fun indeed! Two posts in a row on JW? Yeah, I don’t see why not! Two are the bottles I brought to Malta with me, this JW blue label and a Bruichladdich classic laddie. Why? Simple: the color. Both bottles sport a turquoise color that matches incredibly the beige tones of the buildings in Malta, the green and blue Gallarija, the typical Maltese balconies. There’s no way I could imagine going on a holiday without bringing a bottle or two for a shooting and going back without a memory to share on my IG page. In a way this is a sort of new ritual I can’t really avoid. From Talisker in Seychelles, to Kilchoman in Greece to JW in Malta, whisky travel photography is my new thing and I love it so much, at the point to researching the tones of my destinations to match the whiskies I want to photograph! My dear whisky lovers, I have nothing to tell you on this Johnnie Walker blue label that had not been said before! Some of you love it, for some other is nothing remarkable, for others it’s not good (even if maybe they haven’t tried in years). I won’t debate your preferences and your opinions, palate is king and no one is right nor wrong. The history of Johnnie Walker and their scotch blended whiskies shaped and changed the whisky history and that’s something that we all should keep in mind. On an additional personal note: after long considerations, few new projects will start soon and I’m beyond excited to proceed with my whisky journey! Feis ile staat op het punt van beginnen en een van mijn favoriete merken komt ook dit jaar weer met een speciale release voor het festival ! Dit keer een @bigpeatwhisky met een finish op rum vaten. Een in mijn ogen een moeilijk vat soort maar het Islay karakter blijft mooi overeind en de rum zit er zacht doorheen verweven. Check voor het volledige verslag de link in de bio.
My first peat whisky Lagavulin 16 was such sensational experience. I was always kinda afraid of peat whisky and even disliked it at my first sip. But let me tell you. Lagavulin 16 has a strange charm and I just cannot stop thinking about it. Smoky ashy iodine note of Lagavulin led me to peat universe. Lagavulin 16 is also know as John Mayer's all-time favorite whisky. Now I can see why it's his favorite.
