I used my acting background to imagine vividly detailed worlds, sometimes meditating in character for stories. This film is about a lad named Julez who works as a night club Drag Queen performer. One night Julez is assaulted by a dangerous and homophobic street-thug while under the guise of the Drag Queen. Julez gets the unlikely opportunity to confront the abuser. Now left with the chance, the film takes the audience on an unusual ride of anxiousness and worry. FEMME was written and directed by Ng Choon Ping and Sam H. Freedman and has insightful performances from actors Nathan Stewart-Jarrett and George Mackay displaying Gay Mens’ life struggles. On the surface, it’s a British thriller that explores the yearning for revenge. However, it depicts other motifs such as Gay Mens’ self-loathing relationship with hyper-masculinity. Julez clearly is a “bloke for punishment”. The film is giving 50 Shades of Grey but darker. This film makes me question my morality. Am I a victim if I’m infatuated with my abuser? This is a glimpse into the cycle of co-dependency at its worst. Can we move on from the pain when it feels so good? 🎬 2024 Senior Capstone Spotlight: EVERGREEN, by Cierra Gladden On the night of her final Thanksgiving as a college student, a young woman struggles to see eye-to-eye with her mother, sparking an argument that will critically define their relationship from then on. EVERGREEN engages with the fear of change and the pressure to meet both internal and external expectations. The film grounds these themes within a coming-of-age story centered around a mother-daughter relationship tested by circumstance. Cierra Gladden wrote, directed, co-produced, and shot EVERGREEN. Graduating with a degree in Film and Media Studies and a minor in Entrepreneurship and Management, Cierra is headed to Los Angeles for an internship post-graduation. She is eager to engage with the culture and history of the city while expanding her creative horizons in screenwriting and filmmaking.

The making of this film has led to the creation of the largest visual archive of Bethlehem in the world and plans are currently being discussed with University College London (UCL) to turn the collection into a museum.
