Congratulations to Shanika Ostine, CEO of Jad’Marie Cleaning Service, on her $5,000 0% interest micro loan. Apply to be a part of our next cohort at boominu.com/scholarship. "I was laid off my corporate job in 2020 due to Covid-19 and decided the time was now to embark on my entrepreneurial journey. I was inspired by other women that I have heard of having successful cleaning companies. I started my company with only $950 in 2021 with a limited amount of equipment. I have grown my business over the last few years by serving the community within I live in, learning from other cleaners, and doing good business. I am very proud to have been able to give back to my community. As I have became more experienced and knowledgeable. I have helped other cleaning companies start up their business. Every year I choose a few senior citizens to help clean their homes to ensure up keep. I am pleased to know that my business continues to grow and help others." - Shanika #blackbusinssboom #boomintothebank #blackbusiness #supportblackbusiness #fundblackbusiness #microloans

Filled with gratitude for the invitation to join @glaad’s inaugural Equity in Media & Entertainment Initiative. 🎬✨ #Swipe This evening was a beautiful way to celebrate Black queer artistry. The laughs, the oohs, the ahhs—nothing like hearing real-time reactions to your work. Truly, being in community has been a highlight of this experience. Thank you @dashawnusher @julian.walker @kaylamarie_99 @iamzullyp for facilitating. You’re doing legacy work; we’ll all remember this night and experience!! For me, creating content that centers Black children, queer children, divergent children, has been so rewarding but also challenging. Folks say they care about children but constantly stifle, hurt and ignore them. Encouraging to be in community with folx who see the need and value in what I’m building. 🥹💙 ✨ If you’re new here, I’m a filmmaker, writing and directing scifi/drama and animation and this evening I presented work from my production company and edu-tainment platform @lilappleuniverse. Happy Black Business Month! 🖤✨ This month, we're taking the time to celebrate and uplift black-owned businesses. Groups urge Ottawa to provide consistent financing for Black business initiatives. Long-term and reliable funding is needed to properly support Black entrepreneurship programs, say advocates. Systemic obstacles remain for Black-owned businesses to access capital and training. Sustained government investment is key to unlock the full potential of Black business leaders. #AfroBusinessEmpire #EveryStepIsARiseToTheTop #SupportBlackBusiness #BuyBlack #BuildBlack #BlackEntrepreneurs #BlackExcellence #BlackWealth #BlackFutures #BlackLegacy #EndAntiBlackRacism #SystemicRacism #RacialEquity #EqualOpportunity #RepresentationMatters #BlackBusinessMatters #BlackDollarsMatter #FundBlackBusiness #BlackInvestment #GenerationalWealth #BlackEconomicEmpowerment #DiversityInBusiness

We’re excited to announce that Dianne Shaddock Austin and Pamela Shaddock of @coilstolocswigs are raising money on @wefunder. Coils to Locs is a Boston-based, Black and Woman-owned provider of textured, coily wigs. Coils to Locs was founded out of Dianne’s own challenges finding a wig that matched her coily hair. In 2015, Dianne was diagnosed with breast cancer and lost all of her coily, textured hair due to chemotherapy. Her oncologist wrote her a wig prescription, and she was assured that her insurance would reimburse her up to $350. She set out to go find a wig that would make her feel as comfortable in her skin as possible during that emotionally challenging time. To her surprise, there were none! Because of this experience, she created a line of coily, textured wigs. Over the past year or so, Coils to Locs has been testing the product in the market with fabulous feedback. Now, they are looking for investors to partner with her in taking the business to the next level. 🗣WALK IN YOUR PURPOSE! Our young kings need us.👑 These young men stumbled upon our location and I pulled them in.🙏🏾 They were intrigued and they were amazed that Black Women built this pop up. The only thing that excited them more was knowing that they could bring their ideas to life too(!!!!), and they too could attain success while doing what they love. 🤎 We educated these brothers on Black Wall Street and what it entails to really buy back the block. We imparted in them that they have so much purpose and can achieve anything they set their mind to. ✨ Our youth want to change, but sometimes they don’t know how to do so. They are seeking direction and it’s our responsibility, our honor, to guide them. 👏🏾 Black Girl Magic Museum’s vision is evolving and growing just like our team is. Our vision is shifting to meet the needs of our communities as we continue to engage with them. We are walking in our purpose and this is ONLY the beginning. 💪🏾

Collaboration is key and everyone typically agrees on that, but you know what a lot of people and organizations have issues with? Candor. More people need to speak truth and learn how to hear someone else's truth in its raw form. More organizations need to create cultures where people can keep it real and not tip toe around issues. Too often, mission-critical work and innovative solutions are lost in that dance.

Black women are among the highest underfunded and unfunded groups of entrepreneurs in the country. But sometimes, we don’t even bet on ourselves! If you’re serious about building a business beyond it being a hobby or job, become bankable, loan-ready and access capital. We are here to help you do ALL of that with the Sistahbiz Loan Fund. Access up to $50k in loan funding from our loan fund of half a million dollars. The fund provides capital with flexible terms and reasonable interest rates. Loan applicants must participate in a Sistahbiz coaching cycle or cohort program to be eligible to apply.
