Good Morning ATO family! I wanted to remind you all today that recovery is an active, not a passive, process. Active! Active! Active! Truth is that once we are over the crises that led us into recovery, there is always the temptation to sit back and relax. Thinking we are good to go can be a dangerous trap. Thatโs why we stay aggressive in our pursuit to change. When we are actively repenting and confessing our sins, taking regular inventory, making amends, and asking God to remove our defects of character we continue to press on toward our goal and are all part of the recovery process. We need to persevere in the process of recovery, always taking action toward wholeness. The enemy is the author of confusion and deception and he wants you to think โyou have it all figured outโ โyou donโt need to work the stepsโ or โyouโre good you donโt need accountabilityโ etc.. etc.. We need to stay on task whether we are one day, one month, one year, ten years or forty years. Behind the walls of Minnesota Correctional Facility Stillwater Tim sat me down everyday to encourage me to trust God and do the work. He taught me how to do the right thing even when no one is looking. He encouraged me to stop trying to be someone behind bars and go out in the world and make a difference. Good Morning ATO family! Letโs discuss a little bit of Step 2 today. We came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity. When we are caught up in our addictions, it's common for us to deny the truth about our situation with grandiose thinking. We may believe that we're above it all, a god unto ourselves, accountable to no one. This reminds of a story of King Nebuchadnezzar. In his day, the king of ancient Babylon, was the most powerful ruler on earth. He believed he was a god and demanded to be worshiped. Through Daniel God said to him, โThis is what the Most High has declared will happen to you. You will be driven from human society, and you will live in the fields with the wild animals . .. until you learn that the Most High rules over the kingdoms of the world and gives them to anyone he chooses" Daniel 4:24-25. This happened just as Daniel had pre-dicted. At the end of the king's time in exile, he said, "I ... looked up to heaven. My sanity returned, and I praised and worshiped the Most High and honored the one who lives forever. . . . When my sanity returned to me, so did my honor and glory and kingdom with even greater honor than before. Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and glorify and honor the King of heaven. All his acts are just and true, and he is able to humble the proud" Daniel 4:34, 36-37. Even a king with tremendous power had to humble himself before God and realize he was powerless without God! Most of us arenโt kings and we definitely arenโt God; we are accountable to God, the highest power. This higher power can remedy our problems and restore our lives to be even better than they were before our season of "insanity." God will do so if we entrust our lives to Him. Believe because itโs truth and when we believe we start to begin our walk in faith and journey in a new life of recovery. Have a wonderful Monday and God bless you all! How we as Christianโs endure and handle trails and suffering is what the world watches. Its the hardships we endured to reach the blessings. Itโs the Odds we thought that we would never overcome that brought us to where we are today. We are called to handle our business when pain and hardships happen and fight to find the joy through it all. We praise God when we are in pain and we learn from our experiences. We show the world there is a different way to respond to suffering and trails by rejoicing through our storms! God calls us to fight in Godly and righteous ways. We donโt fight with violence and hatred anymore brothers and sisters. We fight on our knees. Praying and blessing our enemies and our trails and tribulations. Our goal is to equip the body and itโs members not to condemn them. Meeting you right where your at on your journey. Remember you must go through the storms to get to the rainbows.
