This is a record I had on my want list for several years, and then sometime in either 2022 or 2023, Riding Easy posted some random copies of previously out-of-stock titles, including this one, and I was finally able to snatch it up! Even cooler was that this is kind of a Frankensteined version of the regular black edition and the die hard version, as they used the alternate die hard screenprinted sleeve for the few spare copies of the black vinyl they had for sale. I will briefly start by saying that variants are getting ridiculous, when one album comes out in 10 or so different versions I can’t help but think that the collectibility of vinyl has crossed a line between appreciation of art/ aesthetic value into cash grabs to drive up demand and encourage collectors to buy more copies. . Which brings us to this- when it comes to any non-black vinyl edition the number 1 most important thing for me is that the look of the discs matches or compliments the cover art. Be it solid colour, splatter, marbled etc, I want the record and album to share the same aesthetic. . Here are four examples that come to mind where the record really feels like an extension of the cover art. . Going back to my first comment, in attempt to press more and more variants I’m finding it common to see pressings that have nothing to do with the album art.
