Beautiful day at Thorpe Park today. Hot, sunny, great atmosphere. Queue times not terrible. Rode Nemesis Inferno twice, Waking Dead Coaster and I even went on Swarm. Kids also went on Colossus. Hyperia is looking good to go ready for it's opening weekend in 2 weeks time. Had a sneaky beer. 🍺 But it was the perfect day for a beer garden style drink whilst the boys were riding Swarm a second time. Over 17,500 steps covered. I'll be having an early night instead of looking for the Northern Lights. We had a wonderful experience in the tatsing, when our wonderful host stepped it up a level and then again once she realized we wanted to know more - that’s adaptability made the tasting one I would highly / highly recommend Well priced for 6 generous pours - the wines do not disappoint! Cute days out 🛶🌼⛪️📍Canterbury, Kent 🇬🇧 • Last weekend I visited Canterbury for the first time and it was as cute as expected. This sweet cathedral city is filled with historical buildings, cute shops and lovely local restaurants. Luckily my boyfriend went to the University of Kent so I had the best tour guide for the day! We started off by walking along the River Stour, before wandering past lots of wonky ancient buildings in the city centre. Next, we visited the city’s most famous landmark: Canterbury Cathedral. It was by far the BIGGEST and grandest cathedral I’ve ever been to in my life - it was magical 😍 Alongside the main cathedral we went to St Martin’s Church and St Augustine’s Abbey - all three of which are @unescoworldheritage sites. After spending an hour at the cathedral we spent some time in the sun beside the river & then walked to the university campus. Cadbury World. In the village of Bourneville a few minutes train ride from Birmingham. Used our Merlin passes, got a regular size Cadburys Caramel, Twirl and Wispa each. Had a 4D cinema experience, a dark ride, videos regarding the history and production of chocolate. We also had a sample of melted chocolate with 2 toppings in the tempering area. I chose the buttons and fudge. We didn't take part in the hands on parts, the queues were too big and we just enjoyed working around the exhibition at our own rate. 【🇬🇧 ①Oxford】later post📝 かなり時差投稿🙇🏻♀️ * 🎈欧州旅の記録 №15-①🎈 2023.10.7 (day trip) 📍🇬🇧 Oxford / Oxfordshire ロンドン中心部から北西に約100km、 言わずと知れた有名な大学都市🏫 ハリウッド女優のエマ・ワトソンさんが 今年、修士号修得のためオックスフォード大学院に 入学したことも話題になりましたね🎓 * ●Access 🚈鉄道（GWR） @gwruk Paddington → Oxford (approx.1hr） * * 📷1 📍 The Ox (オックス像) オックスフォード駅前の牛の銅像。 駅から出てすぐに、オックスフォードに来たことを 実感させられる存在感🐃 * 📷2,3 📍 Christ Church (クライストチャーチ) オックスフォード1番の観光目玉スポット👀 オックスフォード大学内で最大のカレッジで、 多くの歴代英国首相や著名人が通った、名門中の名門🏫 中には入らなかったため写真が無いですが🙇🏻♀️、 ここのホールはハリポタの食堂のモデルに なったところらしい🎓 * 📷4 📍Radcliffe Camera (ラドクリフカメラ) オックスフォード大学内の、 美しい、英国最古の円形型図書館📖 💡なぜ「カメラ」？ ▶︎ラテン語で「丸天井の部屋」という意味なのだそう👀 ここだけの内部見学はNGのようで、私達を含め 当日ウォークインしようと入ると、帰された人が沢山😅 （外に案内出しといてくれたらいいのに…😯） 後で調べたら、別途ボドリアン図書館開催の見学ツアーに申し込む必要があるとのこと。 ここもハリポタロケ地🎓 * 📷5 📍 Radcliffe Square (ラドクリフスクエア) ↑のラドクリフカメラ前の広場。 奥の、てっぺんが緑の建物: 📍Sheldonian Theatre ▶︎オックスフォード大学の卒業式等のイベントにも 使われる、講堂のような役割。 その手前の建物: 📍Bodleian Libraries (ボドリアン図書館) ▶︎合計26の図書館からなる、図書館の集まり。 ハリポタの図書館や医務室等のロケ地らしい🎓 * 📷6 📍 Bridge of Sighs (ため息橋) オックスフォード大学のハートフォードカレッジの 学舎間を繋ぐ橋ですが、 🇮🇹ベネチアのBridge of Sighsに似ていることから そう呼ばれるようになったとか。 芸術的なアーチは一見の価値有✨ * 📷7 📍 University Church of St. Mary the Virgin (聖メアリー教会) オックスフォード大学内、 1000年以上の歴史を誇る教会⛪️ 目を引く尖塔は展望台になってて、街を一望できます。 * 📷8 📍 Ashmolean Museum (アシュモレアン博物館) 入場無料👏 英国最古の博物館で、 こちらもオックスフォード大学附属。 時間の関係であまり回れませんでしたが、 様々なジャンルの展示があり非常に広く、 大英博物館のようなイメージ。 * 📷9,10 📍 【Turf Tavern】 @turf_tavern 多くの著名人が訪れる、行列の出来る有名なパブ🍽️ 時間が少し遅かったためか並ばずに入れましたが、 それでもかなり賑わっていました🍺ˎˊ˗ 評判通り、とても美味しかった😋 * * 総じて、イメージ通りの、 ♡ハリポタの世界観そのもの ♡若者が多くアカデミックな活気に溢れている 英国のクラシカルな魅力が詰まった街でした🇬🇧 この日は、元々ビスタービレッジのアウトレットが 目的のお出かけだったため、滞在時間わずか3時間程で ゆっくり回れなかったのですが💦 次の機会があれば、 クライストチャーチ内や図書館ツアーも行ってみたいし 少し足を伸ばしてブレナム宮殿も訪れてみたい👀✨ * オックスフォードは1日かけて もっとじっくり回った方が良い！という反省と、 自分が次回見たい場所の備忘も込めて、 投稿させていただきました🥹✍️ * 【②🇬🇧 Bicester Village】に続く▶︎▶︎ -———･✈︎︎･-——— 🧳旅記録専用🏷️ #giz_travel 旅好き、離職中30代主婦❀´- 英国駐在帯同期間、 ヨーロッパの定番観光地から ニッチなスポットまで 3人家族で旅しています🌍 在英の方もそうでない方も、 お気軽にフォロー下さい🙌🏻 -———･✈︎︎･-——— -———･✈︎︎･-——— 📝過去の投稿 @giz_london -———･✈︎︎･-———

📍Pulteney Bridge, Bath, England I enjoyed a lovely day trip to the city of Bath today. The city is easily accessible by train from London - about a 75/80 minute journey. The Bath Christmas Market also opened today and runs until 10 December. Small wooden chalets are spread throughout the city selling a whole range of things from clothing, ceramics, jewellery, food and drink….including mulled wine and cider! The location of some of the chalets around the Abbey and Roman Baths really add to the atmosphere. Pulteney Bridge spans the Avon River and is one of the most recognisable sights in the city. It was built in the early 1770s and is unusual in that it has shops built across it. The bridge and weir are close to the city centre and are a world heritage site.
