Not the most technical turn but one that was ingrained in our brain since we saw it. Huge shout out to @zoeatalie and @wall_rides_ for helping with the surprise. Turn backstory: On a cloudy Utah afternoon, @wall_rides_ let Chris know it was going to be deep. He decided to head up even though the visibility was shot. The clouds broke at the top of their climb, revealing this perfect zone. Mike guided Chris in and they giggled all the way down after Chris dropped the hammer. The surprise happened right below where the turn took place, a couple months later. Thank you to our judges for making the almost impossible decision for a winner. Back from a lovely week away camping under the Mendip Hills in Somerset. The first time I've visited since the early 90's when going to the festival. Not knowing the area we went with an open mind, and were not disappointed. I was struck by the landscape, and can see why it draws so many people back. The watery landscape, it was very wet! , and huge vista of land to the Irish Sea. I can imagine how it must have looked many years ago, and why it is a special place. We visited Wells, Glastonbury, walked up the Cheddar Gorge and spent some time on the Avalon marshes. I found the sacred waters and wells so interesting. The waters at Wells walled off by a huge, ostentatious Bishops palace. Access by a hefty charge, and no access to the water (although Merlin did have a little paddle😉). The Chalice well or red spring in Glastonbury, set in a beautiful, peaceful garden with medicinal plants. A small fee for access, and shop as you leave. A tap outside for water when the garden is closed. A beautiful peaceful setting, a sanctuary of calm energy. The white spring, housed in a communal bath house. Run by volunteers and free to access. The water free to access even when the bath house is closed. What struck me was the normality of the people collecting the water at the white spring, and attending the shrines inside. People driving up and filling their water bottles as we would have done thousands of years ago. The democratic feeling of how special water is and having this access. The sound of the water, and energy in the room is really powerful. My daughter and I spent some time taking it all in, and stood in the pool. Leaving an offering of quartz that we gathered in Scotland earlier in the year for the Brigid shrine. There were lots of women spending time, taking pause. You are also free to enter the pool in the middle, and we did get a bit of a shock when a chap stripped off right next to my daughter and got in! I've brought some water home with me and will be using it in my painting practise. We will definitely be returning to Somerset, as the countryside and small villages were beautiful. Normally I always can enjoy the look of at least a couple of birds but due the amount of fireworks on the last day of the year, there was not one bird at all. I was 'complaining' about it to my husband while our eyes kept searching the backyard. Suddenly he said: "Look, over there, a blackbird!" This bird came along searching for food. He was taking benefits from our soaked grass in the backyard due the lots of rain we had lately. Enjoying eating the worms he did not know he was the highlight of my day becoming my #birdoftheyear ❤️ I like to write information about my subjects next to my drawings. Tturn of the year! Time to take a quick look back... We can discover three different things… Things that have been, things that have made us sad and things that have troubled our heart, our soul and our thoughts. With a last look we say goodbye to them, because now is the best moment to leave them on our path through life. And then there are things that cannot be shaken off. They are by our side, stay with us no matter what pace we are traveling at. These things come in a backpack, it is heavy...but we carry it with the desire to take it off again and again next year to look at old things anew. Maybe they will become lighter? Maybe we can even leave them by the wayside? And there are still things that have warmed us and made our path much easier for a while. We pack these things carefully and keep them in our hearts. Because they are the strength that carries the backpack! Then we turn around to continue our journey in the new year. It is not yet clear where it will lead us but with openness in our hearts, we have the opportunity to discover many new and beautiful things along the way.... Happy New Year to you all! ❤️❤️❤️

B ack in my little village in East Germany, behind the Iron curtain, when church attendance was sparse and life for any believer was one of constant repression, it was the courage of the philosopher-theologian Bonhoeffer and this song which gave me hope. His New Year song was always part of our end of year church service, when the little flock met in our house church on New Year’s Eve to receive the last blessing of the old year. At midnight my family went outside to ring the big bells in the bell tower on the cemetery, where the church once sat before the Second World war destroyed it. We older siblings took turns pulling the ropes of the two heavy bells, to ring the village from the old into the new year. The villagers always waited until the bells turned silent to begin their fireworks - the official way Germans welcome the New Year. So at the end of this year, whether you find yourself lonely or loved, harried or hopeful, anxious or assured, we want to send you forth into the night and into the unfolding of the New Year with the lyrics and tune of Bonhoeffer's hymn... > click link in bio :-)
Kohta saa heittää hyvästit vuodelle 2023 ja kippistellä uudelle, tulevalle vuodelle! Vuosi 2023 oli kaikin tavoin rankka, mutta myös kovasti opettavainen. Se auttoi kasvamaan ihmisenä sekä työ- että yksityiselämässä. Teen joka vuosi aina saman uudenvuoden lupauksen eli pyrin olemaan kaikin puolin parempi ihminen kuin mitä edellisenä vuotena olin. In the year to come i have set some concrete goals for myself, decision-wise clearly founded in the past few years and i will try to focus and achieve them. Erkenntnisse aus 2023: - Vermutlich weiß ich nun den Grund meiner Berufswahl... - Gerade deshalb muss ich deutlich besser auf mein psychisches Gleichgewicht achten und aufpassen, dass ich mich nicht im Beruf verliere. - Musik hilft. Fast immer. - Wenn ich erstmal die Nervositätshürde genommen und dem Drang widerstanden habe, abzusagen, fühlt es sich gut an, mich was komplett Neues getraut zu haben. - Auch wenn sich die neue Erfahrung vielleicht als nicht das Richtige für mich erweist, bleibt am Ende der Mut. - Ich muss wieder öfter singen. - Es fühlt sich gut an, zu sagen, was ich will - auch wenn es bedeutet, dass ich was riskiere und mir das ne Scheißangst macht. - Ich darf meinem Körpergefühl mehr trauen. - Reisen fehlt. - Es fühlt sich fordernd, überwältigend und am Ende gut an, mich auf etwas eingelassen zu haben, von dem ich nie gedacht hätte, dass ich es mich je trauen würde... - Die emotionalen Anstrengungen der letzten 5 Jahre haben schon viel in Bewegung gebracht, auch wenn es sich manchmal nicht so anfühlt. - Ich will mehr von diesem Lebendigkeitsgefühl und möchte Wege dorthin finden...
