Moments from last Saturday’s Ormond Cleanup + Nature Walk, where our 28 amazing volunteers picked up 1,580 pounds of trash 🥾💪🚮 Volunteers got a special view of Ormond on The Nature Conservancy’s property. As part of the Ormond Beach Restoration and Public Access Plan (OBRAP), this area is set to be restored in a way that balances habitat restoration/protection with improved public access. This is just the beginning for this special piece of land! Special shout out to the Ventura Training Center and naval base volunteers for coming out and doing some heavy lifting. Partnered up again this year with @oregonshorescc and @surfrideroregon to bring education and awareness to students about the impacts of plastic pollution in our oceans. Yesterday we worked with 2nd grade students from Toledo Elementary. Today we visited Crestview Heights Elementary in Waldport, and spent time making art with 7 classes ranging from 2nd to 6th grade. One more day with students tomorrow before we wrap up our 2024 Art and Ecology Workshops. Mais de 13.000 pedaços de lixo plástico estão, atualmente, flutuando em cada quilômetro quadrado de oceano. Então, vamos conscientizando a galera próxima da gente, já é um bom começo, as areias das praias tem ficado muito sujas, muita gente deixando o lixo na areia, tenho visto um aumento absurdo de plásticos, papel, cigarro, canudos plásticos, latas, coco, fraldas descartáveis etcetera jogados ali, como se alguém tivesse a obrigação de recolher...triste ver as praias dessa maneira. RESPECT THE RINCON PARKWAY Special Projects Team, from Build Allen for Respect the Rincon Parkway, scored yet another big win for our ocean this morning, collecting 2 pickup trucks worth of agricultural irrigation hose that had washed up at the beach at the north entrance to Emma Wood State Beach, Hwy 1. You may remember last Spring, 2023, after our 12 atmospheric river storms washed down from the hillsides a Volkswagen sized spool of ag. hose onto Oil Piers Beach, Build Allen removed that spool, a couch and a living room chair from the beach. A shout out to State Parks Channel Islands District #1 for partnering with Surfrider Foundation and an ocean loving local business like Build Allen. This synergy keeps plastic pollution like this debris we picked up today from threatening further the health of our ocean and the marine life who maintain our healthy ecosystems along our coastline. Way to go, Amy! Plastic bags are one of the most common forms of plastic pollution found in cleanups and pose a significant threat to human health and wildlife. Single-use plastic bags pose serious health risks to humans, especially those in underserved communities where the majority of plastic manufacturing and waste management infrastructure is located. G-SHOCKと海の環境美化団体サーフライダーファウンデーションとのコラボのキービジュアル描きました。 Posted @gshock_jp SURFRIDER FOUNDATION × G-SHOCK 「Surfrider Foundation」は、1984年にカリフォルニアで発足し、現在は世界23カ国で活動する国際環境NGOです。同団体の「愛する海を守り、美しい海を未来に残していく」という理念に共感し、多くのサーファーに愛されるG-SHOCKと1995年から2010年の間に全7回のコラボレーションを行ってきました。 8回目のコラボレーションとなる「G-5600SRF」は、製品の製造工程において発生する廃プラスチックをベゼルとバンドにリサイクルしたG-SHOCKです。ブラックとホワイトのフレーク材が生み出す風合いにより、固有なデザインが楽しめます。 文字板と裏蓋に「Surfrider Foundation」のロゴを、遊環には“海洋保全に配慮した生活様式”というメッセージの「oceanfriendly lifestyle」の文字をプリントしました。 発売は6月8日(土)。ご期待ください。 Surfrider Foundation is an international environmental NGO founded in California in 1984 and currently active in 23 countries. The Surfrider Foundation shares the philosophy of “protecting the oceans we love and preserving their beauty for the future” and has collaborated with G-SHOCK, which is loved by many surfers, a total of seven times between 1995 and 2010. The G-5600SRF, the eighth collaboration, is a timepiece made from recycled waste plastic from the product manufacturing process. The texture created by the black and white flake material allows for a unique design. SURFRIDER FOUNDATION × G-SHOCK 「Surfrider Foundation」は、1984年にカリフォルニアで発足し、現在は世界23カ国で活動する国際環境NGOです。同団体の「愛する海を守り、美しい海を未来に残していく」という理念に共感し、多くのサーファーに愛されるG-SHOCKと1995年から2010年の間に全7回のコラボレーションを行ってきました。 8回目のコラボレーションとなる「G-5600SRF」は、製品の製造工程において発生する廃プラスチックをベゼルとバンドにリサイクルしたG-SHOCKです。ブラックとホワイトのフレーク材が生み出す風合いにより、固有なデザインが楽しめます。 文字板と裏蓋に「Surfrider Foundation」のロゴを、遊環には“海洋保全に配慮した生活様式”というメッセージの「oceanfriendly lifestyle」の文字をプリントしました。 発売は6月8日(土)。ご期待ください。 Surfrider Foundation is an international environmental NGO founded in California in 1984 and currently active in 23 countries. The Surfrider Foundation shares the philosophy of "protecting the oceans we love and preserving their beauty for the future" and has collaborated with G-SHOCK, which is loved by many surfers, a total of seven times between 1995 and 2010. The G-5600SRF, the eighth collaboration, is a timepiece made from recycled waste plastic from the product manufacturing process. The texture created by the black and white flake material allows for a unique design. The SURFRIDER FOUNDATION logo is printed on the dial and back, and the message "oceanfriendly lifestyle" is printed on the band. Will go on sale on Saturday 8 June. Stay tuned. Had a great time “Nurdling” with all the other volunteers this weekend! We collected over 1,000 in no time at all! So great to see the volunteers educating the public as they passed by too. What are y’all doing? What are nurdles?…Nurdles are small plastic pellets that act as the building blocks for the MANY larger plastic products that we use on a daily basis. Fun fact…Around 600 of these pellets can be melted to make one plastic water bottle. Crazy right?! Unfortunately there’s been a lot of plastic pellet spills in our waterways, including the Charleston harbor, and there’s countless numbers of these pellets (nurdles) in our oceans now worldwide. These tiny plastics absorb toxic chemicals and bacteria and never fully break down - instead, they circulate in our waterways as nanoplastics and are consumed by our shore birds and aquatic life, harming our environment and threatening public health. The transportation of these plastic pellets are expected to increase from port to port. Reach out to your legislators to support the Plastic Pellet Free Waters Act to regulate the discharge or spillage of these nurdles into our environment.
