I’m taking baby but huge steps for me. I am not fully living without a creative outlet but can’t quite sit at my bench yet. My meds make my vision blurry so I thought I could start with beadwork and leather designs I’ve had in my head for a long time rather than work with fire. I have ideas for earrings and bracelets which will of course have solid silver components. I was looking for my seed beads yesterday and found this, which I started years ago! Eventually it will be a black and pink floral bracelet. I feel tugged back to my roots which are Native American at heart. I started creating jewelry as a young girl, when I wasn’t making music, and used my dads old boy scouts loom to learn to bead wide pieces. Back then we didn’t have information at our fingertips but it was so much fun. I used to go to local powwow’s and buy my beads made from glass and bone. Of course everything was real leather then, too. I am very proud of my Cherokee heritage. I hope I can get to work on some of these ideas soon. I need to find a few more things first. This pic represents two different ways of life, one harder to deal with than the other in its own ways. Both have its pros and it’s cons but one was fear of letting go the other was the willingness to let go for improvement in quality. I walked with and held onto a leg I could not feel but a little of the back of for 9 years from 2013 to 2022.
