Ralph Mctell live at National Theatre in Melbourne. This gig has been a long time coming. I had a ticket to see Ralph in Glasgow in 2002. The gig didn't happen, and I've been waiting to see him ever since! He doesn't tour the US, and I've never been able to make it work when I'm in the UK. I discovered Ralph Mctell thanks to Billy Connolly back in the 90s. Ralph did the soundtracks to Billy's World tour documentaries. It was lovely to hear Ralph talk tonight about his love for Billy, and he played the track I wanted to hear 'In The Dreamtime', which was used on Billy's Tour of Australia documentary. Lynsey De Paul『Surprise』 御近所さんの断捨離につきあい出向いたレコード屋で見つけた美麗UK盤。￥10,000ほど売り￥30,000ほど買っていた彼の熱や年始の高揚がなければパスしていたかもしれないし、確かに甘すぎる嫌いがあるのはわかっていたけれど、ピアノSSW然とした「The Way It Goes」や「Just Visiting」などはいまでもフラットに聴けるのではないかと買い直し。実際にそう聴けた。 ストリングス・アレンジはRobert Kirby（Nick Drake）。ドラムはTerry Cox（Pentangle）。Gary Boyle（Dusty Springfield）やRalph McTell、そして彼が連れてきたのであろうDanny Thompsonらソーソーたるメンツが集結。作曲とピアノは本人によるものだが、その妖艶な美貌から「どうせ隣の男の御膳立てで……」と軽視されがち。なおかつヒットした「Sugar Me」がいちばんつまらないという、なんだか薄倖なアルバム。そこそこ売れたはずなのに、悲しみのつきまとうアルバム。 #lynseydepaul #terrycox #robertkirby #garyboyle #ralphmctell #dannythompson
