Sitting on the tarmac in ATL. Pilot just “shared” with us that an oil leak on engine #2 has been noticed. Not unusual he says, happens all the time…. 😮 However, this time there was more oil than usual. Probably nothing to worry about…. Maintenance procedure is to run the engine for 5 min, then shut it down and see how much more oil leaks out. Gordon Lightfoot is often referred to as Canada's greatest songwriter and with good reason. He can whip up a song about pirates, rural settings, and lost loves in almost the same breath. As a boy, his mother was his champion and set him on the path to succeed in music. After high school, he moved to L.A. to study jazz composition, producing commercial jingles to support himself. He missed Canada and moved back to Toronto to join the budding folk scene, listened to a bunch of Bob Dylan, and realized his true passion was writing a more personal ballad. Opening the flood gates, he became super prolific, even writing songs for major artists like Peter, Paul and Mary. Fast forward to his ninth album, Sundown, reaching number one on Canadian charts and Lightfoot's best blend of folk and country. With an almost crooning baritone, his acoustic guitar warm and rich, as soon as the needle drops, you know it's going to be something magical.
