Participating artists included: Eric Andersen, Joseph Beuys, Bazon Brock, Stanley Brouwn, Henning Christiansen, Robert Filliou, Ludwig Gosewitz, Arthur Koepcke, Tomas Schmit, Ben Vautier, Wolf Vostell and Emmet Williams. Interestingly Nam June Paik did not take part. As we read in the description of the piece from the Nam June Paik Art Center Museum: 'This is a poster Nam June Paik made for the fluxus event held at RWTH Aachen on 20 July 1964. At that time Paik stayed in Japan to study color television, so could not take part in the event himself. The long title, Actions/Agit Pop/Dé-CollAge Happening/Events/Anti Art/L’Autrisme/Art Total/Refluxus, traverses the poster, and above and below it, there are sentences in English, German, Korean and Japanese, all meaning that “I respect the monkey” in Paik’s handwriting. The date when this event happened was 20th July, Paik’s birthday, and it was also the 20th anniversary of the attempt to assassinate Hitler in vain. In the poster, Paik collaged Fluxus scores with different articles and illustrations alluding to issues of dictatorship and violence such as the Algerian War and the brutal torture of Japanese Samurai.' It's officially been a year since my hardest death. 😢 Gordon Lightfoot is one of my 3 heroes along with Townes and Cohen. But as much as I love the three of them, only Gordon could create a masterpiece like if you could read my mind, which if you know me well, you'll know is my favourite song of all time. He's written countless songs that mean so much to me. I talk about Gordon every day to the people around me. Not just on his birth or death day, but every day, and I'm so happy to have Gordon Lightfoot as such a big part of who I am. He has the voice and poetic enchantment of a tortured angel. (1971) 12 x 8cm, c. 40 loose leaves taken from a filofax (including the pages A – L) to which Andersen has added a typed card (using a blank card from the filofax) where he has typed using carbon the text “I AGREE WITH YOU THAT YOU DIDN’T PUBLISH THIS AS A SOMETHING ELSE PRESS BOOK:” and “I DO NOT AGREE:” with room for the owner to sign. On the other side is hand typed the address of the Something Else Press such that the book might be sent to them. A mail art work (and possible artist’s book depending on definition) by the artist which due to being hand made is probably unique. VG+. It appears that some of the other parts of this diary were used to make other mail art items eg… OPUS QUOTATION. 1971. 8 x 12.5cm, 4pp plastic wallet from a filofax which has four typed texts on adhesive tape applied to each surface – two say “MATERIAL NECESSARY FOR OPUS SHOULD BE USED” and the other two “OPUS QUOTATION”. My favourite piece of fluxus ephemera today! Eric Andersen / La Monte Young 1977-ish Piano Piece for David Tudor #1 This was the first of three pieces dedicated to David Tudor, under whom Young studied for a year. The instructions specify a performer to “feed” the piano: “Bring a bale of hay and a bucket of water onto the stage for the piano to eat and drink. The performer may then feed the piano or leave it to eat by itself. If the former, the piece is over after the piano has been fed. Include una lunga intervista sulla carriera di Andersen, la traduzione di alcune delle sue canzoni più famose, e una serie di contributi critici che mettono a fuoco sia alcuni dei filoni chiave della sua scrittura – l’amore, l’impegno nel campo del sociale, la denuncia degli armamenti, l’amore per la letteratura e la filosofia, ecc. – sia il suo rapporto con la poesia di grandi autori, in particolare Böll, Camus, Lorca e Byron. Nel 1980, Eric Andersen sbarcava in Italia per il primo (presso il Picchio Rosso di Formigine) di una serie di concerti che proseguono fino ai nostri giorni. Da quella data, lungo il nostro Stivale, Eric Andersen ha viaggiato, registrato, stretto amicizie, collaborato con musicisti italiani, e cantato su svariati palchi, dimostrando la poeticità della sua scrittura anche in festival letterari e di poesia.
