THROWBACK THURSDAY The very first time we visited a local nursing home in 2018! It always makes our students so proud and excited to be able to share their skills and joy for dance with the residents of local nursing homes. We were very happy to be welcomed in person to visit Arcare Eight Mile Plains in December last year and can't wait to visit again in April with our Performance Team. It's important to know that dance can help lift you out of a low mood ✔️ Improves your cardio fitness, flexibility and strength. Depending on the type of class you attend, you will see increases in a range of fitness areas. Our In Motion (over 55's) see great strength and co-ordination improvements to help with their balance. Our Preschoolers see great improvement in their developing co-ordination and core strength. ✔️ Improves self-esteem, self-belief and motivation. There is nothing like setting yourself a goal to achieve a new skill in dance to increase your motivation and see self-esteem and self-belief grown when that goal is achieved. ✔️ Stimulates the part of the brain that is involved in decision making, predictions and creating new memories. Studies have shown that participation in dance can lower the risk of dementia. ✔️ Provides you with an opportunity to socialise and form new connections. Every human needs to develop connections with others and find a network of supportive, likeminded people. Dance is where we find a group of people ready to support us along our journey. When teenage drama starts at school, dance friends are always there; when we start to become isolated in our older age, dance is a great opportunity to meet and and sustain new friendships. Every year I try and do some sort of teachers course whether it be to learn something new or refresh previous trainings. Today I’m doing the level two Progressing Ballet Technique online course. I’ve actually already completed up to level three but as I did level two and three as self learning assessments there is value and doing it again with a group instructor. PBT I love Thursdays here at NYD Cymru because we have one of our Progressing Ballet Technique classes. Ever since I gained my qualification in PBT (yes, I was the first in Bridgend to get it!) I’ve been amazed at the difference it makes to my students, in such a short space of time. I especially love when the penny suddenly drops and one of them masters a move that they previously found challenging and they link it back to what we do in PBT…it’s such a great feeling! Not only does PBT help with ballet technique it also ensures SAFE technique and everyone goes at their own pace making it suitable for just about everyone. I also love when we try something new and everyone falls off the gym balls at the same time, but that’s just my wicked sense of humour!!! Tantissime lezioni, con Allievi di Classico, Modern, Contemporaneo, balli da sala, latini, ma anche non Danzatori e Sportivi vari, dalle arti marziali all' equitazione, dal ciclismo all' atletica, chi non si era mai mosso in vita sua, di varie età, anche over 65... In modo diretto e/o indiretto PBT funziona e ne sono più che convinta. E, per mia fortuna, non mi ha fatto diventare l' Insegnante che sognavo di essere, bensì una più attenta, curiosa, probabilmente molto rompiscatole. 👉 Ήξερες ότι η κάμψη πίσω, εκτός από το ότι αναπτύσσει την ευλυγισία της πλάτης, είναι και stretching των κοιλιακών; 👉 Το πιο συνηθισμένο και επικίνδυνο λάθος είναι όταν μετακινείται η λεκάνη προς τα μπρος. Αυτό έχει τις εξής συνέπειες: 1️⃣ Το σώμα χάνει εντελώς την σωστή τοποθέτηση του με αποτέλεσμα ο χορευτής να μην έχει κανένα έλεγχο στην κίνηση του. 2️⃣Το βάρος επίσης μετατοπίζεται, επιβαρύνοντας επικίνδυνα τα γόνατα και τους αστραγάλους. 3️⃣ Η σπονδυλική στήλη αντί να επιμηκύνεται, συρρικνώνεται με αποτέλεσμα να επιβαρύνεται και να είναι επιρρεπής σε μελλοντικούς τραυματισμούς. 👉 Οι ασκήσεις του PBT που εκπαιδεύουν τον μαθητή για τις κάμψεις πίσω, όχι μόνο του δείχνουν την σωστή τεχνική αλλά ταυτόχρονα τον προστατεύουν από σοβαρούς τραυματισμούς.
