I will say turning 40 has been an interesting ride so far. I’ve probably learned the most about myself the last year than I have ever. Life flies by so fast, it truly does. Living in the past only sets you back and makes you depressed. Trying to hold onto those good memories and acknowledging then releasing the bad ones. Treasuring those good ones but not looking back to them wishing you could go back because you can’t. That’s not how life works and it’s hard to come to that realization especially when your heart breaks and misses those who are no longer with us. I just need to share, all the hard work and studies paid off and I passed with flying colours at my Masters Apprenticeship as a Systems Thinking Practitioner. Did I think that in the year I turn 40, that I would have completed higher education back at University or travelled across the world to Colombia for a Symposium? I really didn’t think so! Add to that exploring new hobbies, getting to know myself better and doing what I love with art. This has already been an astonishing year personally for me. 12 years ago today! A girl from New York crossed the state line into North Carolina and officially became a southerner. From North Carolina to Tennessee and back again it has been quite the adventure. I was terrified every step of the way. Never knowing if the choice I was making was the right one, but I took the leap anyway. I have no regrets. I’ve met some amazing people. I’ve done some pretty awesome things. I’ve published 9 books, worked on a few TV shows and even hopped a private jet to an album release party in NYC. I’ve also made some mistakes. I trusted the wrong people. I took some wrong turns, but it all led me to where I am today and I wouldn’t trade the journey for anything. Last July, just shy of my 40th birthday, I received a diagnosis that has given me a new lens through which to view my life: ADHD.
