Green bayam. Grown from seeds. It takes about one month from seed to harvest. Some of them grow very fast, esp with strong sunlight. I have sow too many and they are of different grow rate- which it kind of works out for me because I do get continuous supplies. I had some early harvest today which I plan to cook them for dinner with fish soup and rice. Yummy. I still prefers growing edibles esp fast crops because I get to harvest and eat them! This is also another recommended leafy veg for beginners because all they need is good sunshine, good drainage , loamy and fertile soil. They grow big and fast. Bok Choy (aka bai cai) has many names and varieties. Nai bai (milky white), Shang hai green, baby bok choy are all different kinds of bok Choy (Chinese - white cabbage). I hadnโt have much luck growing them - but I may have figure out why. These seedlings are quite sensitive to high humidity and damp soil - as they are prone to damping off. Store bought potting mix and compost may still tend to retain water well, which may make it worse. One alternate way is to water from the bottom, or premix your potting mix with additional perlite to improve drainage. I am still learning more about soil amendments. It is fun constantly trying to troubleshoot, improvise, research (repeat until it gets better). It gets easier once they have passed the seedling stage. Here are some pictures updates of the bok Choy situation. They are not growing fast and this is the progress of 2 month + old (grown from seeds).
