Feeding the Fear This Ritual Candle was made by my own personal practice when my own fears became too much to handle. I can have the tendency to hold on and bury things due to my own Shadow of thinking, “I’m weak if I have vulnerability.” Obviously this isn’t true. When sitting with Hekate one day she reminded me of when I was younger and I would get so overwhelmed by nightmares or other emotions that I didn’t have a name to yet and my mother would say, “Give them to me.” She would have me imagine that I would take that sadness, anger, or fear from myself and then put it into her hand. And when I did this my mother would say, “Now it’s mine. You can’t take it back.” Hekate reminded me of this practice so I evolved it and used my fears, my sadness, and my anger as an offering to Hekate. This not only gave me a space where I could put them, but also a space that I could face them, acknowledge them, accept them, integrate. + release them. The magick here is alchemy- turning pain into gold. Feeding up your fears as an offering and getting that energy back so you can move through them. On this Saturn’s Day I challenge you to face a fear that has a grip on you and feed it up. I don’t normally take selfies for this page, but I wanted to talk a bit about how things have changed over the years this past year here at HPE, and I figured what better thing to do than put a face with the thoughts: .In 2023, HPE grew-hell-we boomed! It was a year of learning how to stand up for myself, how to prioritize my own personal and mental health, how the store needed some big changes, and how much of an impact the store has on the neighborhood. .2023 brought me on a personal level so much pain, tears, loss, and chaos. But it also brought me so much love, clarity, the lesson of who should be in my life and who shouldn’t, shadow work that has profoundly changed me, awakening to some things I needed to start to shed, and the glimmer of hope for my personal future and fulfillment in my path again. It has been a year of tremendous loss and chaos but I’m truly starting to see how all of that was necessary for life to morph into place. .2023 brought my relationships with other Gods to new places and Odin taught me to trust myself and connect even through days when mental health clouds my mind. I made so many new bonds with spirits, ancestors, and new Gods that I am beyond excited about. .2023 was a year where Hekate truly took me to deeeeeeep places within myself and showed me my connection to The Divine and the ebb and flow of existence. It was a year She showed me what I’m made of and who guided me through and supported me through so much.
