A bit of the evolution of my arrangement of Shenandoah for the Penelope album launch tomorrow… The album version was an improvised solo arrangement done in one take as I really wanted to include this song, but there was no time left to record. I wanted to scale this up for the full 12-piece Grande Família for the album launch @pizzaexpresslive but found myself copying the Paul Robeson version, which I love, too closely. On piano I tried to find my own thing a little more, then moved it onto guitar, then for the full band, featuring the French Horn a lot ☺️ Can’t wait to play with Grande Família tomorrow! So looking forward to seeing everyone who’s coming! IAN GILLAN & TONY IOMMI Who Cares/Edel 2011 What started off as a charity project, resulted in the release of this double-CD compilation. Ian Gillan of Deep Purple and Tony Iommi of Black Sabbath have been friends for years. They both have also been involved in a charity called Rock Aid Armenia which originated after the 1988 earthquake in that country. Since help was still needed, this time to rebuild a musical school which was destroyed in the disaster, in the town of Gyumri. Gillan and Iommi recorded two new songs together as Who Cares, accompanied by such musicians as Jason Newsted (ex- Metallica), Nicko McBrain (of Iron Maiden), Mikko "Linde" Lindström (of HIM) and the former Deep Purple keyboardist, Jon Lord – this, sadly, was their last collaboration, as Lord passed away the following year. The CDs contain both new tracks as well as a selection from Gillan and Iommi’s careers. Obviously, there’s a song from “Born Again”, the only Sabbath album with Gillan on vocals, and a couple of regular tracks, but mostly the collection contains songs which were unreleased, rare, newly remixed or simply forgotten and had to be dug out of the vaults – see the tracklist. This makes the whole thing an unusual treat for fans, especially that lots of the songs included here are excellent. Hey everyone. I just wanted to share a story with you all today. A decade ago, to the day, I released my first album of original piano music. This album was a charity album compiled together to raise awareness and funds for the @rctcharity The robin cancer trust was set up by the our family friends, the Freemans, who had recently lost their son/brother Robin in his battle with a rare form of cancer. In his memory they set up the trust to raise awareness of the disease. I wanted to do something in aid of the trust so I thought it would be a good idea to put my talents to use if I could. Unfortunately, at that time I hadn't invested enough time into learning all about streaming and marketing so the album disappeared into the depths of time in my back catalogue. However, now with a better understanding I would like to take a look back at these pieces to try and raise awareness and funds for the charity. A lot has happened in the last ten years to the charity which has grown and grown. So over the next few months I'd like to share the entire album in my live performances so you can check out this project for yourself. And if you would be so kind to give them a few streams that would be even better as I would like to share the proceeds from the album with the charity. I'd like to share a few links to various things to do with the RCT but I'll spread them through the performance posts rather then bombard you all now. Happy Easter! Thinking back to last Easter Sunday when twenty-one of my aunt’s family came to stay. @teresaamacedoo00 met my family for the first time and with @m_bomb_1987 and @n0t.that.mustard we played music for my mum and the assembled family. This was the genesis of the Penelope album, which features Jonas, Teresa and Dijan alongside eight other inspiring musicians. The second picture is from her birthday last year, when she was waiting for the results of a scan, still with some hope it might not be cancer. I feel so grateful that I was able to go home to spend that day with her and some of her best friends. This collection of songs is the definitive indie Christmas album and includes contributions from a broad spectrum of indie giants, with songs ranging from traditional standards to originals written specially for this collection. Happy release day! We were able to donate $408.84 to The Ronald McDonald House Charities, and we're crazy grateful for the outpouring of support. All orders start shipping today. Today is especially important for us because this EP constitutes the 20th release of cuddledrug. We're excited to continue growing together not just as a band, but also as a family (literally). Thanks so much for helping us promote safety and wellness in so many ways. Another incredible aspect of this release is that the album artwork was created by our close friend the extremely talented @isrealrod21, who also made the art for "it works both ways" (2017) and "Summer's Over" (2013) (amongst many more releases for our other bands).
