Don’t let this ONE thing sabotage your success. YOU. Isn’t it funny that we are always looking for outside circumstances to blame our failures, our lack of action on? When the truth is that we are the ones responsible. It is us that have the power to choose how we respond to our outside circumstances and how we move around them & forward. So it is just as much a choice to let those same situations hold you back. I know it is a hard pill to swallow. Yet is is one of the most important lessons to learn at the beginning of your entrepreneurship journey. You can’t blame anyone or anything but yourself which is both a curse & a blessing. When I started my first business back in 2019, I spent a good year resenting the person that was supposed to support me but left me to figure out this entrepreneur-thing on my own. I blamed them for my confusion, my overwhelm, my frustration, my tears. But in the end, I realised that the only one responsible for my success is, well, me. So save yourself the energy & time looking for excuses outside of yourself, and reclaim your power. Be aware & grounded in your power as you make choices aligned with where you are going. Today I was turned off from working with a 7-figure coach. What surprised me is why. This woman knows her $hit, she’s an authority in her field, when she speaks she has integrity… It was none of those that were ‘the problem’ 💛 I am quite sure she’s a genius at what she does. So what was it? This may shock you and it certainly took me off guard. It was her environment and where she was based. As her place of where she lives is part of her brand identity. It wasn’t about her ethnicity or who she is that was the problem. It’s not about that, it’s about what she was portraying in her visuals … From my filters, and perspective it was off-putting, it wasn’t my vibe and I was repelled. Hence in a sense I also don’t like that she makes it part of her brand. It’s repellent to me. So I want to ask you, since we are mostly all personal brands here and buy from other personal brands… (other coaches, mentors, healers)… Is where someone is based and I they include it in their brand identity and visual brand, their lifestyle, does this factor into if you’d work with them? I realise that this is a very strange question. 🙄 And you may need to think on it. But since it occurred to me that I was put off from working with her! I’ve been wondering if others might feel similarly. Or at the very least I’d like to find out. If some of you agree, that means that the environments we portray in our brands have to be aligned to us. Or else we risk loosing ideal clients, just on the basis of if our visuals don’t vibe. It may not match their filters. I’m so curious, what are your thoughts on this? 💭 (No one will be judged or opposed you’re allowed to your opinion).

Alignment is a prerequisite to working together 🤍 So many of us have been burned/gaslit by coaches/mentors + the coaching containers + the industry. I’ve had long discussions with entrepreneur sisters and clients relay their horror stories so I KNOW it’s challenging for so many. It’s also made people discerning about who is who and are they actually going to deliver what they claim, which I think is a GOOD THING. I’ve not written or commented on this because there are so many who have, and that’s fantastic to shed light on dirty deeds and set them right. While, sometimes things happen unexpectedly and sometimes what happens is unfortunate but serves its purpose to teach us and whoever is involved a much needed lesson. As humans we hold duality, darkness and light and our lives are a series of choices. After working with A LOT of coaches and buying tonnes (literally.) Probably a 100K of coaching containers & programmes by now (hello, line 3 and open head and ajna in Human Design that I’ve had to decondition)... I’m highly intuitive this has been my primary tool of discernment. I can smell when someone is out of integrity and it’s off-putting for me now (like can’t stand to be around you ...no more tolerance for BS). I think we are ALL developing our own super senses in this way. In addition to that what I’ve learned about my aura type and strategy in Human Design with ‘the rule of 3’ and listening to my sacral & emotional waves its put me in the good places at the perfect times! I imagine, 4 years go, if I was so tapped in and had these tools my journey could look a lot different but no regrets because I have learnt A LOT, which has just become embodied experience and wisdom I can pull from. I’m blessed to be able to see silver linings easily. I’ve had to learn discernment, getting rid of my people pleasing, being the good girl, not wanting to ruffle feathers, and setting some strong boundaries with emotional intelligence. This quote by Willy Brandt (a former German Chancellor) made me smile today. It's true: today, Germans understand and speak English a lot better than they did back in the 1970s. But (and it's a big but!): when it comes to marketing and selling to a German target audience, it's still a LOT more effective to do this in their own language. That's the only way to get nuances right and avoid embarrassing mistakes. Example: I'm currently working on web copy for a lovely brand and realised that some of their blog posts had been machine-translated. The problem: a lot of the copy simply didn't work. From literal translations of puns to very awkward sentences, any German reader would have been left pretty confused. Not the intended effect, I'm sure. Another good reason to hire humans! Interested? My vision and execution are NOT the same right now 😂 I have a really clear vision for this brand and what I want to do with it, but my life right now is so busy all of a sudden that my options are either: 1️⃣ Do nothing because I don't have the time to make it 'right' 2️⃣ Put out stuff that is 'good enough' I'm in the process of shifting from option 1 to option 2 🥴 Right this second, I don't have the words to articulate how I want my branding to look, I don't have the time to do a proper photoshoot (and do all the prep for it), and I don't have the mental capacity necessary to outsource anything either. As the 'CEO' of this business, this is all a me problem. And I'm the only one who can tidy everything up (internally, before it can look tidy externally). You ruin the magic of journaling. 😂 When you grab a bit of paper, it isn't meant to be perfect. It's not meant to be poetic and life changing. It's meant to be raw and vulnerable and the kinda thing you probably wouldn't want anyone to ever find (never mind publish). As someone who has tried most things to deal with anxiety and depression, when I say that journaling was life changing for me, I do NOT mean the kinda journal entries you would put on your IG stories alongside your morning matcha latte. I mean mascara tears covered pages, so much frustration my pen has ripped holes in the pages and scraps of napkin that I wrote on and stapled in because I had things to say and had left my journal at home. By all means have a daily practise, but if you want to benefit from writing in a journal, it needs to be a space where you allow yourself to actually be messy. Posted 5 juicy lessons from 5 years in biz 🧃🧃 1. That wild self-belief that seems borderline delusional to other people? You need to find a way to hold on to that even in the moments where no one is buying, people are unsubscribing and you're questioning why you thought running a business was ever a good idea. 2. Expect the best in people, but develop the skills to handle the worst. Assume that everyone has the best possible intentions and treat them accordingly. When they show you they don't, be ok with handling it quickly. 3. You're going to have to do some crazy sh*t. Investing thousands, not knowing if you'll ever make money again. Saying yes to things you don't know how to do. Agreeing to do stuff that makes you want to vomit and celebrate simultaneously. Figure out your risk tolerance and trust yourself. 4. Staying in your own lane is underrated advice. If you try to always keep on top of the trends and pop up like a meerkat to see what everyone else is doing, you will exhaust and confuse yourself to the point of inaction. Do you and put the blinders on. 5. Don't look for external people to blame for your (lack of) results or feel people owe you anything. No one is expected to engage with your posts. Instagram aren't responsible for your sales. If no one buys, that isn't your coaches fault. That person who said they'd sign up but then ghosted isn't the reason you aren't reaching a million. Posted I am someone who spends a lot of time in fight or flight 🥴😂 With having anxiety from a young age (forever?) I'm used to feeling fear around a lot of 'normal' every day things. Job interviews triggered panic attacks. Social situations made me want to vomit. Doing something I've never done before like ordering at a new restaurant or putting petrol in the car? I'd rather stick pins in my eyes. BUT I also run a business which is full of doing 'scary' things every single day 🤔😂 Here is the number one tool I use in my life (even before I had a business) that changes everything: One thing at a time, without the end in mind. Example: going to a networking event. Rather than tell myself I need to go to the event 🤮 I tell myself to set my alarm (I can do that), then I tell myself to get ready (I can do that), then get in the car, pay for parking, walk to the venue. All of these steps I focus on one at a time, knowing I can do them, and putting zero pressure on myself to have to actually go to the event. When I'm then outside and the next step is to walk in, I tell myself I just need 3 seconds of insane bravery to walk through that door. I can do 3 seconds. And then I'm in. I tell myself I can turn around at any point. I can walk out. I can leave without guilt. The worst thing? It NEVER ends because for every thing you tick off, you add another three (and if you're anything like me, you add things you've already done just to make yourself feel better 🥴😂). The thing is though, your dreams probably aren't on that list are they? It's probably full of stuff you need to do for other people (buy that mother's day card, fill out the kids consent form, do that clients work, reply to that FB message from Barry you've left on read for three months). And so you might FEEL good for ticking things off, but is it actually getting you where you want to go? I'd bet you this chocolate bar I'm about to eat that the big things, the risky decisions, the things outside of your comfort zone that will actually move you forwards aren't actually on that 1037 item long to-do list that rules your life. It just felt like "well obviously that's not where I'm going" 🤷♀️😂 But the more I thought about it, the more I realised it was a REALLY big deal and I needed to think about what I'd just said! Things that came up: 👉 When I pictured the future (10+ years) I saw myself still working with business owners but NOT under the Virtually Done brand - I had to pick apart why this was. 👉 I felt like I had taken Virtually Done as far as it could go. I can't really explain this one, more of a gut feeling! 👉 People STILL 🥴 linked the brand to virtual assisting (something I hadn't done in years), because I had kept the same name. 👉 When I thought about what I wanted to offer, Virtually Done just didn't seem to sum it up (not to mention I didn't always want to be virtual). I want to write a book, do events and a million other things that didn't fit within the brand. 👉 I felt trapped by my own brand and felt I couldn't talk about certain things that were 'off brand'. Overall, when I looked at my big dreams, goals and vision of how I wanted my life to look, Virtually Done was taking me down a path that WOULDN'T get me there. Posted This will piss a few people off.. 😮💨😂 👉 Side note: this could be applied to an endless list of things, psychology is just my example because it's close to my heart! I do want to say that I DON'T believe you necessarily have to have qualifications in the thing you offer, and I also believe someone who did a Google search about a topic might actually be more effective than someone with 20+ years experience. It's complex. BUT here are some things that worry me: 🧠 People teaching sales psychology without understand WHY the things they are teaching make people buy (eg is causing long term damage?) 🧠 People sharing 'scientific findings' that they haven't read the research paper for. (I saw a VERY big name share a study that had been disproven by psychologists years ago and the research had been disregarded because the psychologist was faking his results). 🧠 People doing really deep work with people without the broader knowledge of the brain/human behaviour and accidentally causing more damage. Psychology can be used to do SO much good, but in the wrong hands can cause (unintentional) harm and honestly that scares the life out of me. So just be careful who you are learning from. Don't be afraid to ask about their experience. 🤷♀️ Anyone can have a shiny photoshoot and launch a psychology programme - it's on YOU to do your due diligence in who you are learning from. Posted This is a challenge I didn't see coming. From day one of starting my business, I wanted freedom. I didn't want to worry about waking up ready to start work at 9am every morning or having to stay in my office on those (very rare) sunny days. The trouble is, just because I have a life of freedom, doesn't mean everyone else does. Every day I watch my boyfriend get up early, work his ass off, and come home 12 hours later exhausted. Meanwhile, I rolled out of bed when I felt like it, did yoga, had a laugh with my clients, went for a two hour beach walk and spent who knows how much on coffees. Sure, he enjoys his work and chooses to do it, but that doesn't take the guilt away. I know I'm not alone in feeling this because I've had numerous conversations with others who: 😬Take on more work around the home 😬Force themselves to sit in their office 😬Stick to the typical 9-5 😬Don't do 'fun' things during the day All because they feel guilty about having a life of freedom while the others in their household don't. I recently went for a facial in the morning, had therapy in the afternoon, and did nothing else. That was my entire day. & why people love spending it on you! Do you ever spend money and feel gross about it? Maybe the food wasn't as good as expected so you feel disappointed handing over your card or maybe the staff were rude and so you wish you'd gone elsewhere. On the flip side, have you ever felt REALLY good about money you've spent? Like you walk away thinking "that was totally worth it!" This is the exact reason that when I go for a coffee, I walk past one coffee shop in order to get to another where a coffee costs MORE money (sorry dad). I WANT them to do well. I WANT to contribute toward their success. I WANT the owner to be able to afford a holiday. I WANT their staff to be well paid. 🤷♀️ So the idea that money is only ever going to come to you from people who hate seeing their money leave their account is false. If people love what it is you offer, it's very possible they will get excited to pay you, in the same way I get excited to spend at my favourite coffee shop. It’s too late. I think this is probably the thing I hear the most from clients. It’s too late to: 👉 meet someone 👉 change careers 👉 move countries 👉 have a baby And whilst I’m not going to sit here and say there aren’t other factors involved with some of these things and that time can sometimes play a factor.. what I will say is this: Telling ourselves it’s too late to do something is sometimes a very clever way that we protect ourselves from taking any kind of step towards what it is we want. Say we want a relationship but we are also aware a part of us is sh** scared of putting ourselves out there in case it doesn’t work... telling ourselves that it’s too late is a good way to stop us from doing the scary thing. So if you find yourself telling yourself it’s too late… ask yourself what that could be protecting you from.
