Atlas : l'histoire de Pa Salt Aujourd'hui je vous donne mon avis sur une lecture particulièrement émouvante : l'ultime livre de la romancière Lucinda Riley. Après 10 ans d’une saga formidable, la série des Sept Soeurs est enfin arrivée à sa conclusion ! Atlas, le huitième et dernier tome de la saga, a été publié l’année dernière. Et… je ne me suis pas précipitée dessus ! Je sais, ça semble fou. On m’a offert le roman pour mon anniversaire (un cadeau un peu intéressé car ma mère et ma grand-mère veulent absolument connaître la fin de l’histoire et attendent de pied ferme que je leur prête le livre). Pourtant je l’ai laissé patienter de longs mois sur une étagère avant de finalement le lire. D’abord parce que je n’avais pas beaucoup de temps à moi, et que je voulais vraiment le savourer. Mais honnêtement, je pense aussi qu’il y avait une certaine appréhension de ma part à dire adieu à une histoire qui a tant compté pour moi. Du coup, vous devez vous demander : est-ce que c’était bien ou pas ?! 𝐖𝐇𝐈𝐓𝐓𝐀𝐊𝐄𝐑 @lucindarileybooks @harrywhittakerauthor @editionscharleston Et voilà, la saga des 7 sœurs se termine sur ce 8ème tome, celui de l'histoire de Pa Salt. Avant toute chose, il faut savoir que ce tome a été écrit juste après le décès de la créatrice des 7 sœurs. C'est donc son fils qui a repris entièrement l'histoire pour finaliser la saga à travers des éléments que lui aurait transmis sa mère. Malgré cela, nous retrouvons tout de même l'écriture de Lucinda Riley et son travail de recherche remarquable. Néanmoins, il m'a été vraiment difficile de rentrer dans l'histoire. J'ai trouvé le début long, très long, extrêmement long et lent. J'ai même carrément songé à abandonner en restant sur la fin du 7ème tome en laissant libre court à mon imagination. Et puis, j'ai estimé qu'il était quand même dommage d'avoir englouti près de 6000 pages en 1 mois et demi sans connaître tous les secrets de ce père adoptif. Je me suis accrochée et passées les 200 premières pages, je me suis laissée porter par les mystères de Pa Salt. Je referme cette saga le coeur lourd, laissant derrière moi toutes ces soeurs et leur histoire. Certaines vont beaucoup me manquer puisque c'était mon rendez-vous quotidien. J'aimais les retrouver chaque matin et chaque soir, partir avec elles sur les traces de leurs origines, voyager vers de nouveaux horizons et de nouvelles cultures, les voir évoluer, gagner en maturité. Je ne peux que les imaginer se retrouver chaque année au même endroit, heureuses de célébrer leurs retrouvailles et la mémoire de leur père...

#avislecture Hello Booksta. Je continue sur ma lancée sur la saga des sept sœurs et je viens de terminer le 7e tome que je referme avec encore plus d’interrogations qu’au début de ma lecture. Toutes les filles se sont mobilisées pour retrouver Merope, la sœur disparue, la sœur que Pa n’a pas jamais trouvée, elles ont menée l’enquête à travers le monde, via les informations distillées au compte goute par l’avocat de la famille. J’ai littéralement voyagé lors de cette lecture, avec une fin à laquelle j’aurais pu penser mais que j’avais écartée car peu réelle mais en fait les quelques informations récoltées me donnent juste envie d’enchaîner avec la lecture du 8e tome et d’enfin en savoir plus sur Pa Salt qui était un être avec bien des secrets. Ces quelques 900 pages auront été dévorées en quelques soirées, je suis tjrs sous le charme de l’écriture de Lucinda Riley. Roy Ayers and Ubiquity - Red, Black and Green (1973) Polydor This week's theme: Messed up minds 👉Swipe for a sample! Awesome Ayers material here. There is plenty of fire to make this a classic. Recorded in the Electric Lady studio's in NY. The favourite hangout of Ayers and his Ubiquity. This album contains some very soulfull vocal tunes as well as some smooth jazz groovers. Ofcourse I came for the cover and expected some furious young men raving about politics. The most socio song is the title track. Red, Black and Green (the colors of the United States of Africa) raps about equality and the Motherland.. Set to a great beat my favourite track of the album is: 'Rhythms Of Your Mind' a great groover with insane bass work. The album contains of different covers. 'Ain't No Sunshine' is vibraphone madness. Ayers timing and vibe is tremendous. The other one is 'Papa Was A Rolling Stone'. Almost onrecognisable (it reminds me a lot more of 'Freddie's Alive And Well'). A great instrumental fillty Funk track. That Roy had a thing goin' on for the psychedelic sound Norman Whitfield was producing is clear in: 'Hence Forth' a great psych-soul tune. To bad Ayers wasn’t much of a songwriter. The lyrics make it kind of goofy.. Something I saw suggested this was a RSD title from @ubiquityrecords But it is dated 2002. And it was pressed by Rainbo, so whatever it is, it ain't a '23 RSD. Do you know how shocking it is to see Rainbo etchings in the deadwax in '23? Almost as horrifying as seeing the that of @memphisrecordpressing or @thirdmanpressing or the tell tale signs of an @independentrecordpressing I mean, it is the spoopy season. Fortunately, this spiritual jazz album wasn't a bad pressing. Because you have Woody Shaw and Azar Lawrence on it. So if you buy @jazzdispensary titles, you will want this. Happy born day to the master of good vibes Roy Ayers, who is celebrating his 83rd trip around the sun today! I’m kickin’ off my Sunday rotation with his 1975 album "A Tear to A Smile,” Roy's ninth release for Polydor Records, an association that had begun in 1971 with "Ubiquity," which marked his crossing over to the funkier side of jazz. While Ayers would at times stray away to explore cheesier, discofied funk sounds later in the decade, this set shows little evidence of the direction that he'd soon take. The music grooves hard, with a slick and sophisticated touch, as you'd expect from the classic Ubiquity lineup featuring drummer #BernardPurdie, bassist #WilliamAllen, percussionist #WayneGarfield, guitarists #ChanoOFerral and #CarlClay, as well as pianist #HarryWhitaker, among others. The music gives a lot of room to the vocalists, #DeeDeeBridgewater, #CarolynByrd, #DebbieBurrell and frequent collaborator #EdwinBirdsong. Ayers himself can be heard on vocals, organ, Arp synthesizer and, of course, the vibes. Many of the tunes have become classics, starting with the heavy-hitting jazz-funk gem "2000 Black," the uptempo Afrobeat influenced instrumental "Ebony Blaze" and the almost popp-ish "Show us a Feeling." Ayers even includes a cover version of Earth, Wind & Fire's "The Way of the World." My personal favorite is the title song, which just flows, seemingly endless, with its haunting vocals and Roy's wizardry on the vibes. Dzisiaj postanowiłam wrócić do pisania recenzji, które mam nadzieję Was zaciekawią i posłużą za inspirację. Na ostatnią część, spajającą cały cykl serii "Siedem sióstr" czekałam z niecierpliwością i ciekawością jak syn Lucindy Riley - Harry Whittaker poradzi sobie z tym wyzwaniem. "Atlas. Historia Pa Salta" odkrywa losy ojca siedmiu sióstr, które, będąc już bardzo dojrzałym mężczyzną, adoptował w różnych częściach świata. Poznajemy wszystkie tajemnice związane z jego pochodzeniem, jego drogę życia oraz jego wielką miłość. Życie Pa Salta odkrywamy w formie pamiętnika, który Marry otrzymała od Georga - adwokata rodziny. Po jego skopiowaniu, wszystkie siostry zapoznają się z jego treścią w trakcie podróży statkiem w miejsce ostatniego pożegnania z ojcem. Mam lekki problem z oceną tej powieści. Podobał mi się zarys pomysłu na ten finał ale uważam, że został trochę przerysowany i przekombinowany. Wiele rzeczy mi się nie spinało i nie do końca pasowało do całości. Jednak patrząc na całokształt i z lekkim dystansem było super. Najbardziej usatysfakcjonowana jestem z finału ponieważ miałam cichą nadzieję na takie zakończenie. "Atlas. Historia Pa Salta" to na pewno książka bardzo emocjonalna. Opowieść o miłości i o jej utracie, o wytrwałości i zaangażowaniu, o walce ze złem i dawaniem dobra. Roy Ayers Ubiquity – Virgo Red (1973), Polydor Records This weeks theme: Weather Weather Man 👉Swipe for a sample! 1973 was a busy year for Roy Ayers and his band. Like the James Brown of Jazz-Funk, he released nothing less than 3 records that year: ‘Coffy’, ‘Red Black & Green’ and ‘Virgo Red’. While he’s called a true wizard of Jazz-Funk, for me he’s especially in his mid 70s years also a true Funk hero! During this time he’s shifting gears more and more into the funk. Of the 3 recordings that year, this record is probably still the most Jazz-Funk. Virgo Red is a holy heavy good one. Somehow stripped down, but overall soulful with a fat groove trough. Most songs are built up so gracefully, with several tempo shifts and solo’s. The band is killing it again. Beside his Uniquity band with ‘Harry Whitaker’ in outstanding form and in great connection with Ayers, they got some help from; Garnett Brown, Dee Dee and Cecile Bridgewater and Jimmy Owens. The Title Track and ‘Love from the sun’ are the uptempo Jazz Funk bangers. Some nice covers like Leroy Hutson’s ‘Giving love’. The absolute highlight for me is the psychedelic haunted ‘I am your mind’, which has some Funkadelic vibes surrounding it. ‘Virgo Red’ probably isn’t one of my favourite Uniquity record… This isn’t saying anything about the quality, it’s a winner. ~ Atlas - Lucinda Riley & Harry Whittaker ~ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️!!!! EIN-DE-LIJK!!! Wat een fantastisch verhaal. Enkele jaren geleden begon ik aan deze reeks van dikke boeken. Na het eerste boek was ik meteen verkocht. Ik verdiepte me in het leven van de zes zussen (en later ook de zevende). Alle zeven namen ze me mee in hun eigen verhaal waarbij heden en verleden elkaar afwisselden. Gaandeweg leerde je alle zussen kennen. Je ontdekte hun ware afkomst, hun karakter en je maakte samen met hen een gedaanteverwisseling mee. De liefde die de zussen voor elkaar hebben is zo mooi om te lezen. Ook naar het “personeel” van Atlantis toe was de liefde groot. In Atlas leerde je het verhaal van Pa Salt (Atlas) kennen. Een meeslepend verhaal van begin tot eind. Of er veel vragen zijn beantwoord? JAA!! 😮 Het leuke aan dit boek was hoe je Pa Salt gaandeweg leerde kennen, hoe ook Kreeg Eszu en zijn zoon diepgang kregen en hierbij duidelijk werd waarom iedereen hen uit de weg ging. Ma, Claudia, Georg en Christian kregen ook een eigen verhaal en mijn liefde voor hen groeide hierdoor ook. ❤️ De laatste hoofdstukken waren zo ontzettend spannend en onthullend dat ik mijn ereader eigenlijk niet wou neerleggen. Ik las het grootste deel van dit boek in Japan en in het vliegtuig. Er was dus niet heel veel tijd om snel door te lezen omdat de vakantie zeer gevuld werd met het prachtige Japan. Tak oto kończy się przygoda z Siedmioma Siostrami (@wydawnictwoalbatros )! W finałowym tomie, napisanym częściowo przez syna zmarłej autorki @harrywhittakerauthor , poznajemy losy najważniejszego bohatera Pa Salta. W końcu wszystkie tajemnice zostają odkryte, a wątki z poprzednich tomów łączą się w jedną całość. Przyznam szczerze, że już niezbyt dobrze pamiętałam treść wcześniejszych części, ale fabuła jest tak poprowadzona, aby czytelnik mógł sobie przypomnieć najważniejsze rzeczy. Mam wielki sentyment do tej serii i w ogóle do autorki i trochę się bałam, że finał może być nieco naciągany, ale całe szczęście moje obawy okazały się płonne i tom finałowy utrzymany jest na poziomie poprzednich pozycji. Cykl Siedmiu Sióstr jest lekturą bardzo ciepłą i przyjemną, momentami wręcz infantylną, ale fabuła jest tak ciekawa i wciągająca, że można przymknąć oko na wyidealizowanych, aż do granic bohaterów. Jeśli jeszcze nie czytaliście to gorąco polecam Wam tę serię, w której każda część przenosi czytelnika w inny zakątek świata. J’étais à la fois pressée de découvrir la conclusion de cette saga que j’aime énormément et triste à l'idée qu'après ma lecture ce sera fini. Car je savais, qu'après cette dernière, je devrai dire au revoir à ses personnages que j’aime tant. Après avoir suivi, au fil des tomes, les histoires de chacune des sœurs, il était tant pour nous de découvrir celle de leur énigmatique père adoptif. Alors la conclusion est-elle à la hauteur de toute cette saga ? De mes attentes ? A 200% ! Toutes les réponses qu’on attendait sont là et l’histoire est passionnante. Une des choses que j’ai le plus aimé ,au fil de ma lecture, c’est découvrir le lien entre Pa Salt et ses filles. J’ai adoré me rendre compte que je l’avais vu, sans m’en rendre compte, dans chacun des tomes. A chaque fois qu’une pièce du puzzle se mettait en place, j’avais envie de courir, feuilleter mes livres et relire ce passage. Je l’ai d’ailleurs fait à plusieurs reprises. J’ai aimé voyager dans le monde, dans l’histoire et dans l’art afin d’y découvrir l’histoire de Pa Salt. Mais aussi voir les pièces de ce magnifique puzzle se mettre en place pour arriver à ce final, parfait pour moi. J’ai vécu ce tome et de manière générale cette saga avec beaucoup d’émotions et j’ai terminé ma lecture en larmes tellement j'étais prise par cette histoire et triste de la terminer. J’ai voulu le savourer, le faire trainer, l’apprécier à sa juste valeur tiraillée entre l’envie d’avancer et celui de le faire durer. Parce que ce sera résolument le dernier. Une époque s’achève, une page se tourne et c’est donc avec beaucoup de nostalgie que j’ai retracé l’histoire des sept soeurs. Je ne pouvais rêver meilleure conclusion à la saga, chacune de nos questions trouve une réponse, chaque élément s’imbrique à la perfection. J’ai sincèrement été bluffée par ce talent qu’avait Lucinda de tout penser en amont, par ce sentiment de perfection et d’évidence qui m’a submergée. Je trépignais d’impatience en voyant les pièces du puzzle s’assembler, en voyant mes hypothèses se confirmer… Ou pas ! Je bouillonais d’excitation à l’idée de lever le voile sur le mystère le mieux gardé du moment. J’ai été particulièrement sensible à l’astronomie très présente et notamment aux nombreuses références à la constellation des Pléiades. C’est une constellation qui a beaucoup de signification pour moi depuis qu’une partie de mon coeur est dans les étoiles. C’est toute une symbolique chère à mon coeur qui prend vie alors forcément cela m’a chamboulée. La dimension affective était énorme mais tellement salvatrice et poétique… 10 ans. 10 ans que j’ai découvert cette magnifique saga, que je la recommande, que je m’interroge… Vous imaginez la charge émotionnelle qui pèse sur cet ultime tome ? Comment ne pas l’adorer dans ses conditions ! C’est la fin d’une saga exceptionnelle, la fin d’une époque… Aujourd’hui je me sens orpheline, mais quel final ! Les larmes ont coulé oui, cela ne pouvait être autrement. Mais est ce que ce roman est un coup de coeur ? Difficile à dire mais je ne pense pas même s’il était parfait en tant qu’épilogue de saga. Mais en tant que roman, il m’a manqué du rythme par moment et de l’équilibre… Merci à Harry Whitaker d’avoir réussi ce pari fou d’achever l’oeuvre de sa mère !

Det är över! Den är slut! Boken jag så gärna ville läsa ut, men samtidigt inte. Svaren på alla frågor, alla ”ja det kunde jag ju ha anat”, ”vaaa?” och ”det där hade jag förstått sedan länge!” 😊 Nu är serien om De sju systrarna över, och det känns tomt. Men ändå helt okej. Nu går jag vidare från en historia som jag kommer minnas, och säkert om en 20 år, läsa om. Det är böcker jag kommer rekommendera till alla som ännu inte läst dem. Duo lecture avec Catherine "little bird" de Craig Johnson, et en même temps "Atlas" le dernier Tome de la saga des 7 soeurs d'après les notes de Lucinda Ridley et rédigé par Harry Whittaker, son fils. Il est rare que je lise 2 livres à la fois, mais le 1er aurait dû être fini fin mai, et le 2eme m'a été prêté par notre bibliothécaire, et je sais qu'il y a une liste d'attente... Un grand écart entre 2 styles différents. Je ne connaissais ni les aventures de Walt Longmire, ni Craig Johnson. J'avoue avoir eu un peu de mal avec les 100 premières pages. Je n'arrivais pas à me plonger dans ce roman policier aux Etats Unis. Puis, l'histoire a fonctionné et je me suis prise à être curieuse de ce policier empli d'humour et de son équipe haute en couleurs, les descriptions des paysages sont superbes, l'amitié entre Walt et Henry est écrite magnifiquement, les rites des Cheyennes très intéressants. Qui veut venger cette jeune Indienne violée par 4 adolescents ( blancs) ? La fin est très surprenante, en tout cas je ne l'avais pas imaginée... La Saga des 7 soeurs n'est plus à présenter. J'ai lu les premiers, puis me suis arrêtée, en sachant que je lirais en revanche le dernier tome. Il ne m'a pas déçue, et je dirais même qu'il m'a donné envie de lire ceux que j'avais mis de côté. Pa Salt nous dévoile tous ses secrets, sa vie, on comprend enfin pourquoi les soeurs ont été adoptées, qui sont Ma et Georg, l'origine de son conflit avec zeeg... Nech dumám koľko chcem, k Atlasovi asi nenapíšem nič, čo by ste už u niekoho nečítali. Ja osobne som zatiaľ videla len pozitívne recenzie a súhlasím so všetkými vyslovenými superlatívmi, lebo táto kniha, to je jednoducho dokonalosť! Celá séria Sedem sestier patrí medzi moje srdcovky, odporúčam ju kade chodím (a to som sa kedysi, prosím pekne, historického románu odmietala čo i len dotknúť 😅). Autorka má tú úžasne zázračnú schopnosť zaujať hneď od začiatku, štýl písania je chytľavý a ja som knihy naozaj len ťažko púšťala z rúk. Priznám sa, že nie všetky sestry sú moje obľúbené, niektoré mi jednoducho osobnostne nesadli. Ale historická linka bola v každom jednom príbehu úžasná, osudy ma chytili za srdce a najmä, takú veľkú chuť som mala navštíviť každé jedno miesto a krajinu, o ktorých som čítala. Zo začiatku som sa trochu obávala, či sa štýl v tejto poslednej knihe nebude priveľmi líšiť a či ma vôbec bude baviť. Ale rovno poviem, že neviem nájsť nič, čo by som v knihe zmenila. Autor myslel na každý jeden detail, všetko bolo vysvetlené a dotiahnuté do konca. Až som miestami mala husiu kožu ako všetko dávalo zmyseľ, keď som sa vracala späť k momentom z predošlých kníh. Veľa som plakala, častokrát som bola dojatá a mnohokrát som si víťazoslavne povedala “ja som to vedela!”. Posledná časť série a príbeh Tatka Slaného bola dokonalá čerešnička na torte a jedna z top kníh tohto roka. Jösses! Nu har jag läst klart den åttonde och avslutande delen av Lucinda Rileys fantastiska saga om de sju systrarna. Den knyter ihop säcken med hur Pa Salts liv gestaltade sig och hur han hittade sina döttrar. Den saknade sjunde systern finns med och cirkeln är till slut sluten och alla frågestecken uträtade. Mycket skickligt berättat av författaren som i denna sista del fått skrivhjälp av Harry Whitaker.
