A châtelaine is a piece of functional and decorative jewellery that consists of a central framework from which hang a number of tools useful to the user. The history of the châtelaine is long and closely tied to women’s history in Europe (and possibly elsewhere.) Ancient examples date back to the pre-Roman era in Italy. The Victorians loved their châtelaines, and they became as much a status symbol as a useful tool, with a huge increase in size, and elaborate embellishments in both silver and gold. This châtelaine, which is part of the Threshold Collection, has been intentionally created as an aid for the working witch. It can be hung around the neck by a cord or the included chain, or pinned at the hip to allow quick access when needed. Each tool was selected for both its functional and symbolic use. They hang by clasps from a silver framework of fused Argentium silver. In addition, each tool on the châtelaine is removable and wearable as a pendant by itself. The tools include a Box, a Knife, a Staff with a cage, a Skeleton Key, and a Cauldron. An additional Serpent set with ( what else?) serpentine is also part of the toolkit. #Tarot When I do a reading for someone I like to use a few different decks, to give me the "bigger picture". I mostly use tarot cards, the different packs providing different imagery, which can help to clarify the answer. I may also use an Oracle pack, which offers alternative suggestions. With regard to the number of cards I use, I go with what I feel is right, using from 1 to 4 cards from each chosen pack. As for the packs I choose, this is also decided by which ones feel appropriate in relation to the enquirer. I find I can get quite deep into the details using this method, but every reader has their own style.
