Ok so here are the details on the Walt's Main Street Story Tour.... It is a 90 min tour of Main Street, but the pièce de résistance is the finale, Walt's Apartment above the Fire Station (as well as his personal balcony). You are given a lanyard with a cute hang tag as a momento (you can see it up close in my previous post), they are no longer offering pins for the tour. The tour can accommodate up to 10 people at a time, and there are tours every hour. It is $160 a person, no discounts for Magic Keys, no taxes, and there is no gratuity (but you can tip your guide at the end of the tour if you're so inclined). You will hear history of the park, stories about it's early days, as well as stories about Walt. Information about his life in the park, as well as his childhood. Personally I loved the stories about his time staying in the park, as well as experiences cast members and his grandchildren had with him there. The tour concludes on his personal patio, that overlooks Main St, with a beverage of your choice and adorable cookie. You will also have the opportunity to have your photo taken inside the apartment by a photopass photographer, the photos are included in the tour. (You are not allowed to video or photograph inside the apartment or on the patio.) I definitely recommend giving this tour a try, I thoroughly enjoyed it and will be taking one again. Another fun treat from Walt's house, in the backyard sits the original playhouse he helped design with his imagineers for his 2 daughters! This adorable cottage sits in the backyard at his former home on Woking Way. The story about this little Storybook Cottage is so Disney! Walt decided to have this built as a Christmas present for his girls from Santa. He and his imagineers went to work, designing and building it in secret off the property. Right before Christmas he had a concrete foundation poured, and on Christmas Eve, his team came and erected it where it sits today! It even had electricity, running water and its own telephone with a separate line (so before it's time)! On Christmas morning his daughters ran downstairs to see if Santa had come and were delighted at the sight of this beautiful cottage. Once inside, the phone rang and Santa was on the other end of the line, asking if they liked their gift lol!
