Progress 🙌🏻 The bank holiday weekend consisted of us doing a bit of house stalking which led to us taking a trip back to the show-home at Collingwood Grange to remind ourselves what we are waiting for! These two photos are only a couple of weeks apart. It’s so exciting to see progress like this but makes me remember all of the promises I made to myself whilst we are in our temp base: - clear out all of the clothes you’ve accumulated for 20 years and keep carrying around with you - set up a Vinted account - clear out the storage locker so you’re not paying for storage AND rent - sell the furniture you bought and learned how to upcycle when you lived on your own for the first time 10 years ago and now matches absolutely nothing in the house (and Dean hates it…) I have achieved none of these things ❌❌❌❌ BUT we nearly have a whole roof so does it really matter?! 🙌🏻

By Pankaj Thapa This year’s budget is a dream – from provision to mental health, taxation cuts on Electric Vehicles, increment in salaries of public office holders, promise of ease of access to finance to start-ups, there is hardly any sector which feels neglected. There is one concern however – its execution. Therefore, we have done a comparison of the promises made last financial year to this year’s promises. We will try to do one next year too – of the progress we have made in metro rails, flyovers and underpasses, or how much percentage of the population is vaccinated, or did we utilize our budget in procuring necessary health supplies. Meanwhile, here is a rundown of the promises made last year: Improvement in hospital infrastructure: Last year, then Finance Minister Dr. Yubaraj Khatiwada, presenting his budget speech at the House of Representatives (as is the norm) said that the government was committed to building a 300 bed epidemiological hospital in Kathmandu Valley. He also made promises to build at least 50 beds epidemiological hospitals in each provincial capital. This year, Finance Minister Bishnu Poudel repeated the same promise. PCR testing and procurement of essential supplies: Last year – the need of the hour was PCR machines and PCR testing kits. After much pressure, and only once private hospitals and facilities were allowed to conduct PCR tests, satisfactory numbers of PCR tests were able to be realised – i.e. for those who could afford the tests. Currently, there are 76 centres (public and private) conducting PCR tests across Nepal. NRS 6 billion was allocated to “avoid shortfall of medicine, equipment, and logistics that may immediately be required for the control and treatment of Covid-19” in last fiscal year – despite the allocated funds, Nepal was in dire shortage of supply of essential medical supplies and equipment when faced with the second wave. Red flags like finding out they lied about something. Doing everything-for-you and throwing gifts your way to the point of feeling overwhelmed or uncomfortable. Making promises and not keeping them... For anyone who isn’t well trained to pick these things from a mile away, it’s soooo easy to get stuck in their charms and get whisked away in their dreamy promises... Pay attention to their actions, attitude and behaviours. Do they tend to do this with everyone then drop the facade? You might have someone “faking it” - faking empathy, care and love so they can get you vulnerable/easy to manipulate. This isn’t a conscious game they play, it’s just a matter of “giving” and “taking”... watch out how they treat everyone else too. A great example of this “charm” with red flags scattered through it is the show “Dirty John” (not the documentary). If you watch how he acts and how the lady ignores the small red flags as they pop up - you will notice it’s people who are quite insecure, kind hearted and naive who fall into these traps. The charm stops them from listening to rationality coming from people they dearly care about because its actually a bunch of love bombing/hoovering to get them soft and malleable, more easily forced into a trauma bond as the cycle of abuse begins. It never hurts to take things slow, to step back and be a wallflower for a while until you have assessed a situation for what it really is. Some people might call it being paranoid, but I call it self preservation. People who have been abused are vulnerable to narcissistic relationships and can easily lose themselves when it comes to love. A strong sense of self is required in order to have strong, balanced relationships. Both ways! // The Unkept Promise // 6:45 pm I rush out from office as it's already late, For it's special day And I had promised to have dinner with you. To Celebrate our special day. The beginning of us. Our journey of 3 years and still counting, for which I'm so glad. 7:05 pm I see a bouquet vendor, I know you love lavender lillies, I buy them for you in order to pacify your anger and as forgiveness for my impunctuality. 7:15 pm I catch a city bus, Holding the bouquet, Inhaling all its fragrance and reminiscing past 3 years. These 1095 days were nothing less than a rollercoaster ride with number of ups and downs, Twists and turns. But I cherished ever moment 8:00 pm I get down from bus smiling hopelessly I walk so fast to avoid any further delay. On my way home, I stumble on a tiny pebble and trip off. Glad that I didn't have any injury. I try to get up holding bouquet in one hand and struggling with my purse on another. Before I could realize, something so giant bumps into me, may be a truck. I fall on the other side of the road And that's it. BLACK SCREEN flashes infront of me. 9:18 pm I gain consciousness and feel it difficult to move. I try to absorb things around me. 4-5 people wearing masks are rushing here and there as if they have had any panic attack. All of sudden I remember I need to go home and I'm too late. Someone's waiting for me. I try to tell them, but fail miserably. I lie there helpless unable to understand what's happening around. I try hard to move but my body doesn't coordinate.
