DOG: YEG cart street meat gem 💎 RATE: 8.8/10 the older lady that works here is so so so sweet. I ❤️ her. anyways, you should know by now that this is my fav type of hotdog. a jumbo beef glizz barbequed. *chefs kiss* SO GOOD. it was accompanied with the classic toppings: relish, ketchup and mustard. if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. added bonus: she scored the top of the glizz. my new obsession. bun was warm and soft. amazing. it’s hard to believe that places do hotdogs wrong when this lady in a little cart on the corner of an intersection can create such beauty 🙌. anyways I was drunk and tipped her $30 for a $1.50 glizz but honestly, no regrets. she was also so grateful and it made my night. could really go for this glizz right now, but unfortunately i haven’t found this type and quality of street meat here in milan. will 100% consume. maybe even as soon as I get back to toronto 🥰 recommendations? GARDALAND aka the worst place to get glizzies🎡🤮 CONTEXT: took a day trip gardaland which is an amusement park in Italy. I don’t know about you all but when I think of amusement parks, 2 things often come to mind. glizzies and roller coasters (in that order). and based on past experiences, the hot dogs at amusement parks are 🔥🔥. so prepare yourselves to be disappointed with the glizzies I’m about to share with you. I wish someone had done me the courtesy that I’ve just done you, and given me a trigger warning. DOG: the most revolting glizz I’ve ever had RATE: 0/10 let me set the scene: after being on the lookout for a hot dog cart as soon as I stepped foot into this amusement park, I was overjoyed to see a sign that read “hot dogs”. but that is not what they were. it started off strong, I spotted some condo utters and felt my heart skip a beat. little did I know it would go downhill from here 💔. to begin, please refer to the third photo…the glizzy jail cell. should’ve acknowledged this obvious reg flag but my judgement must’ve slipped at that moment 🚩. anyways, proceeding onto the next red flag: right before I received the “hot dog”, a previous customer had returned complaining to the staff that their glizz was cold. having already paid, I mentally noted this complaint 📝 and walked away from the stand. it was time to taste this glizz…a decision I would soon regret heavily 😡. the glizz was in fact cold, the toppings (mayo & ketchup) were disgusting and overpowering, the bun was partially stale, the bun-to-dog ratio was horrific, and the hot dog itself was an unfortunate pork and beef combo. oh - they also cut the bun wrong. needless to say, I suffered through 2 bites and proceeded to toss this godawful excuse of a glizz into the nearest trash can. would never consume again nor would I wish my worst enemy to consume one 👍 I should probably report that place. recommendations? OKTOBERFEST PT.3 🇩🇪🍻🎡 CONTEXT: ‘tis the main day of oktoberfest. to set the scene - we’re in a beer tent, chatting with local German folk, and bonding over our love of beer and glizzies. what happens next? the kind sir across from me peels (😳) the skin off a sausage bit and hands it over to me… DOG: donated (slightly dead looking) glizz WHERE: oktoberfest, Munich Germany RATE: 7.8/10 tbh I probably should include a trigger warning with this pic but remember: don’t judge a book by its cover 🚫. as seen in the pic, the appearance of this glizz took me by surprise for sure. nevertheless, despite the grey, wet, uncooked-looking nature of the sausage, it was quite delicious 😋. it should be noted I was about 2.5L deep in beer but considering I still remember how good it was means something 💭🍻. the sausage was well-seasoned and full of flavour. while it didn’t have a bun (and some may say that it therefore was not a hotdog), I am classifying it as an honourable mention glizz. don’t know if I would eat it again because the sight of it is nauseating but no regrets. recommendations? OKTOBERFEST PT.2 🇩🇪🍻🎡 CONTEXT: still the first day but this was a glizz to end the night. you know how those hit different 🤤 DOG: bratwurst glizz WHERE: oktoberfest, Munich Germany RATE: 9/10 I change my mind - THIS glizz was an authentic german classic. the bratwurst was spectacular. great flavour and composition. if I recall correctly (and my memory might be a bit fuzzy) the glizz was a tad spicy 🔥🥵🌶. classic toppings. the bun was a little eccentric…it was circular and def did not fit the glizz but somehow it kinda worked 😌 the bun was an artisan style bread bun *chef’s kiss*. you know what was the star of the show though? OKTOBERFEST PT.1 🇩🇪🍻🎡 aka cityglizzygirl is international 🎉🍾 CONTEXT: at oktoberfest for the weekend and had to see what the hype about German glizzies was DOG: classic hotdog WHERE: oktoberfest, Munich Germany RATE: 8.5/10 this glizz was an authentic german classic. the hotdog itself was good - more of a sausage but big and juicy 🌭💦. the bun was great. no complaints except for the fact that its length did not match the hotdog’s length. classic toppings, first with ketchup, mustard, and relish and the next day with just ketchup and mustard. in the second pic, I would love to claim that I was double fisting glizzies but we keep it honest here 💯 and I was just being a kind person and was holding it for someone else. this glizz paired beautifully with beer and pretzels so good thing those are the only other things I consumed all weekend 🥨🍺🥰. great glizz, great people, great atmosphere. some may call that a trifecta. ciao. if I lived in Germany I’d eat these all the time. recommendations? STADIUM DOG 🚨⚾️🏟 CONTEXT: we went to the jays game for the glizzies. just kidding. or am i? 😏🤔😬 DOG: footlong dog WHERE: Rogers centre RATE: 9.5/10 absolutely amazing. juicy jumbo hotdog 10/10. soft and warm bun 10/10. toppings (the trifecta: mustard, ketchup, and relish) 10/10. the simplicity yet perfect execution + the ambiance of the jays game made this whole experience superb. this is what I want every glizz to be like (except how big it was). the only reason that this hotdog does not receive a perfect score is due to the size and the fact that the bun didn’t match the size of the dog. unfortunately I could not finish it. but don’t worry, I only sacrificed about 2” of it. nothing like a glizz and a beer at a baseball game 💯🏟❤️ I’d eat it again. duh. recommendations? RIGHT DOG, WRONG TIME ⏰ CONTEXT: exam szn had me drained and craving a glizz. what’s new 🤷♀️. it was late at night after a library grind and me and another fellow glizzy lover ubereated glizzies from this random place. DOG: fireside dog WHERE: gino’s RATE: 7.5/10 cravings for a hotdog were high but eventually faded by the (long) time it took for the glizzies to arrive 😓. basic components were SPOT ON 👌. jumbo dog WITH octopus leg cuts 💯 🐙brioche grilled bun 💯🤤. toppings were onion rings, jalapeños, and cheese sauce. great in theory but execution was lacking. long delivery made the hotdog and it’s toppings M-O-I-S-T 🤢 plus by the time it arrived the glizzy craving reduced to only 10% of my thoughts…a true tragedy. A HIDDEN GEM💎 CONTEXT: whenever we go to the movies at landmark cinemas (10/10 theatre and experience, regular seats are SO comfy and they recline, some imax theatres are the bad seats though so beware) we always get a classic glizz. however one night we were at home and craving a landmark hotdog. we decided to stray from the norm and order 2 new dogs… DOG: nacho dog & chicago dog WHERE: landmark cinemas 🎥🎬🍿 RATE: 7/10 for nacho 4/10 for chicago let’s begin with the star of the show. the nacho dog. it’s a classic (small dog 😓) with a regular bun BUT it’s topped with nacho cheese🧀, chunky salsa🍅, crushed tortilla chips, jalapeños, and a drizzle of sour cream. chefs kiss 👩🍳💋. for a movie theatre hotdog in kingston I was impressed. only rated a 7/10 because the dog and bun were average. on another note, the chicago dog was less than average. toppings were very underwhelming. my pallet is maturing 💅 so these hotdogs might not cut it anymore. onto bigger and better things 🏆💪 I would eat the nacho dog again. not the chicago dog. that was pathetic. recommendations? LITERAL HEAVEN 😇☁️🕊✨ CONTEXT: it was saturday dollar beers at trin which involves watered down shitty beer in midget plastic cups - but I can’t complain because that’s what the student budget allows for💰. anyways, trinity has been promoting their collaboration with Brooklyn Dogs and has FINALLY started serving them so as soon as we got in, we beelined for the back bar where they were being served. tbh not ideal to consume right before dollar beers but you live and you learn 🤰. DOG: EL MARIACHI 🌽🇲🇽 🌶 WHERE: trinity🕺 RATE: 9.5/10 INSANE! BACK ON TOP 🔙🔝💯 CONTEXT: I always see the BeaverTail advertisement for their BeaverDog and tbh it did not look appealing whatsoever. one afternoon stroll later and my mind would be completely changed forever. DOG: BEAVERDOG 😍🔥🤤 WHERE: BeaverTail cart (near trinity🕺) RATE: 9/10 Was it because my expectations were so low? Maybe. But this beavertail-wrapped, deep fried, jumbo hotdog was delicious. It was so good I ate it on the curb about 10 feet from the Beaver Tail cart #curbdog. The deepfried beaver tail that engulfed the hotdog reminded me of fresh pizza crust - and it was the perfect bun-to-dog ratio. The hotdog was the good jumbo beef dog. No condiments were required. TO THINK IT COULDN’T GET WORSE 😭 CONTEXT: “if you come over, I’ll make you hotdogs”. if you know me, you know hotdogs are my weakness. unfortunately the person who promised me that underperformed and underdelivered. no matter how hungry I am, I won’t make that mistake twice 🚫😪 DOG: garlic🤢 salt🤢 dog🤢 WHERE: the same friends’ house RATE: -1/10 note to self ✍️: don’t let degenerates cook you hotdogs. 🚩 #1: the hotdog was cooked on a skillet on the stove top. 🚩 #2: it was seasoned with an unhealthy amount garlic salt. from the beginning of this hotdog’s journey, things weren’t looking too good. the chefs also didn’t watch it nor time it so the garlic salt (that surrounded the whole hotdog in a thick layer) burnt 🔥. the hotdog was the small pathetic dog from the local corner store. there was also no bun or condiments/toppings (except the horrendous amount of garlic salt 🤮). the only reason this hotdog was rated a -1 rather than a -10 is because I was starving and these hotdogs were my fuel for the night out (yes I know, I ate more than 1 😬).
