S'il y a deux films que je retiendrais dans la grande carrière de Jane Fonda ,c'est en premier "Le Cavalier electrique" de Sydney Pollack. Car c'est un film où le personnage qu'elle incarne me semble le olus proche de sa personnalité. Il y a cette remarquable phrase que lui dit le personnage joué par Redford : "On vous supporte depuis le debut". Dans ce film elle retrouve deux de ses amis et complices : Robert Redford et Sydney Pollack. Well, that was a long time ago, and there was always one decade I was missing and putting off completing: The 80s. Well, I've finally watched all 10 Best Picture winners from the 80s and thought better late than never to rank them! Kicking off my list is Out of Africa. This to me is the English Patient equivalent of this list: a boring 3-hour historical epic with solid performances, great cinematography, and a forgettable story. Kino na večer... Bobby Deerfield, USA 1977 Moje kdysi dávno úplně první setkání s mužským charismatem má jméno Al Pacino, který dnes slaví 84. narozeniny. Motto: Opravdová láska vás srazí na kolena a z arogantního, bezcitného floutka udělá pokorného muže plného nadějí. Ani to však nestačí v boji proti nepříteli jménem osud... Jedna jediná chybička znamená konec. V jediném okamžiku, v jediném záblesku se může závod Formule 1 změnit v tanec se smrtí. Al Pacino jako odvážný závodník ve filmu Sydneyho Pollacka zapomíná na svou minulost a své city. Avšak jen do té doby, než se setká s vášnivou ženou žijící taktéž ve stínu smrti, která mu teprve ukáže, jak plně a skutečně je možné život prožít. Bobby Deerfield je v Pollackově filmografii zvláštním úkazem. Jeden z jeho nejméně ceněných filmů, jenž, pakliže se vůbec připomíná, pak pouze v souvislosti s hereckou účastí Al Pacina. Sám Pollack ho označil za svůj "nejvíce evropský" film a tím jakoby naznačoval, kde hledat příčiny jeho neúspěchu. Bobby Deerfield skutečně není typická hollywoodská love story. Nabízí jen minimalistický, pomaloučku plynoucí děj - neděj, ve kterém jakoby pořád "něco chybělo". V titulcích se hlásí k Remarqueově předloze (přestože s ní má nakonec pramálo společného a zbytečně si tak nabíhá na odmítnutí ze strany jejích obdivovatelů, kteří budou nutně "srovnávat"), scénárista Alvin Sargent však na Remarquea kašle a základní motivy knihy využívá k vlastnímu vykreslení odosobňujícího se spotřebního světa, v němž vzrušení a riziko slouží jen k zahnání nudy a úniku od sebe samého (hrozba smrti není pro Bobbyho výzvou ani součástí vyššího údělu, ve skutečnosti se jí bojí mnohem více než Lillian). Smrt je děsivá, protože usvědčuje život z bezcennosti a zbytečnosti, a všechnu tu tíhu, kterou neumí pojmenovat, má Pacino v očích při každém setkání s NÍ. Krásný film, který není ani pro hollywoodské publikum, ani pro evropské intelektuály (pořád je to jen Pollack se svými zjednodušujícími žánrovými návyky a ne profesionální hloubavý esejista Antonioniho kalibru), ale pro mě patří dlouhá léta k srdečním záležitostem. #filmovýtip #alpacino #marthekeller #sydneypollack #erichmariaremarque
