Taking tomato inventory today! Was so sad to find that I am out of 4 of my absolute favorites! Hopefully I can find them or the garden won’t be the same. Health Kick was one of my very first tomatoes. I bought its start from the local greenhouse my first season. When I switched to starting my own plants I thought I’d never have her again because I thought you couldn’t get hybrid seeds! Oh how much I’ve learned in these 5 years! Juliet has a sister story to Health Kick. These are my daughter’s favorite tomato because they are so delicious and sweet to snack on! If I can’t find Ten Fingers of Naples I may just pack in the garden and give up. I’m half serious. This plant cranks out the goodness for me and makes the most tastiest tomato sauce! Bush Roma were so great for canning and it’s a pretty small compact plant I can really stuff into my small garden space for how much fruit it sets! I even had extra plants last year in grow bags because I needed more! I am kicking myself for not seed saving them! That’s my new garden goal for this year: perfect my seed saving! I’ve saved a couple myself but I’m definitely a novice at it. I tried to save some seeds last year but then I forgot about them (thanks Hockey season) and they all went bad! 😩 But this year! This year I will do it! I am not planting any more trees! Meet Hazel. She’s a Witch Hazel tree that will bloom yellow flowers in late winter. Took me three days to dig the hole since my house is built on Paleolithic rock, so she’s the last tree I’ll plant. But she’s in (with help from the fam) and hopefully she has strong roots!
