A 4km round trip hike with great views in the North Okanagan 🇨🇦 📍Bluenose Mountain, Lavington, BC Our key to successful hikes are to give your kids a trail that has some difficulty to it so they aren’t bored. Kids like the challenge of climbing and walking across logs over a boring trail. This trailhead is a few kilometres up an FSR but can easily be accessed by car. There is everything on this trail from steep switchbacks, to cliff edges, to meandering through the forest. There is shade on this trail too making it a great one to get out on even in the heat. Bring water as there is none along the trail. This is a great hike for the kids. My toddler loves taking photos lately. 📸 He is often asking me to take pictures of him doing the most random things, and smiles so big when we look back at them after. Today I was busy trying to make dinner and watch the kids, and Wyatt really wanted to use the tripod to take some photos. First he was a little director, insisting I take some solo. And then we made a game of racing to beat the timer. We laughed so hard. We hugged harder. I am wearing no makeup and kind of slummin’ around, but that’s not what he sees, and that is not what he will remember. I pray that I can always find the patience and the time to do the simple things with them that will let them know I am present. I am here. And making memories with them is my #1 priority. It’s so easy to always make an excuse or find a reason you don’t have the time/energy/money. My little clingy bum Did anyone else find that their second child was 1000 times clingier than their first? Marley was a little clingy to me as a baby, but we put it down to being stuck with us 24/7 in lockdown. She's now only a little clingy when we are out together, but when she is around her family and friends she ditches me ASAP.🤣 Mabel on the other hand, well if i'm there she clings onto me for dear life and if she isn't within touching distance, then her bottoms lip starts to wobble! If i'm not there then she is ok, but its if she knows i'm around then she wants me. "Your baby is not chubby" "We want a golu molu baby" "Babies should be chubby" "Your baby is too lean" "Give formula milk, baby will put on weight" "Add sugar & salt, baby will eat well & become chubby" "Give cow's milk after baby turns 6 months" Do these sound familiar? Often parents are questioned & judged for the choices they make for their little ones. It is a personal choice of the parents of what they want to follow for their baby. Is this you? Do you find your patience is wearing thin? Do you feel triggered by small annoyances? Is this out of character for you? I’ve shared about postpartum rage and anger before. What I find is yelling becomes a new normal for a lot of moms. It can cause intense shame. There’s no need to feel shameful here 🫶 If you find yourself yelling more, ask yourself if you have an unmet need. Do you feel like your level of support meets the demands of your everyday life? When was the last time you were able to tune into your own needs? When you find yourself getting agitated, pause. Pay attention to your feelings and remember that everything doesn’t require an immediate response. If you need to walk away, that’s fine. If you need to tell your children “mommy is upset right now” that’s okay, too. Use a skill that works for you!
