Had to give this fabulous, fun restaurant @fundasydney a shout out, with its absolutely delicious food and amazing service! 🤩 I am in no way sponsored or affiliated with the restaurant, just wanted to give credit, where credits due. I am an avid believer that there is no such thing as a good or bad food, and that everything should be considered within moderation. There are however foods that should be considered to be eaten more or less often, depending on your health goals. Dining out and socialising also brings so many mental health benefits, such as spending time with loved ones, full and meaningful conversations, laughter (which in turn increases serotonin levels and boosts your mood) and frankly, a night off from doing the cooking/clearing up in the house! Now please don’t take this as a sign to eat out every night for the next 2 weeks, but it all comes back to everything in moderation, which is key to a whole,full soulful life 🥰 I was lucky enough and extremely grateful to have shared this meal with a dear friend like family, whom I’ve known for 25 + years, only in Sydney for work for one night. 🌟 CLIENT TESTIMONIAL 🌟 Lucy, from Ireland, started working with me as she wanted a new way to look at nutrition. EASTER 🐣 What a lovely few days 🤩 1. Hiked to the top of the Barrenjoey lighthouse as a family. The littlies did so well climbing up the big hills + loved jumping in the water straight after we had finished, as the sun was coming down 💫 🌅 2. A gorgeous friend’s, boys birthday celebration, featuring the stunning Sydney skyline backdrop 3. Easter egg hunts for the kiddies + BBQ with friends like family after a long time 4. Perfect beach afternoon with the crew 🏝️ It’s been 4 days off from the gym, 4 days of eating anything I pleased, and a couple of days of relaxation with my precious family and friends. I couldn’t be more thankful 🙏🏽 It’s been a head down, bum up time with launching NuTrishtion over the last few months 🙌🏽, so not much else has been done! and of course it’s only just the beginning! :) But I’ve also appreciated listening to my body and mind, to understand that I needed to give myself some time for my family and also myself. And it’s been nice to do this, this weekend ✨ The gorgeous weather this weekend has been a massive bonus, as it still feels like Summer, but in Autumn! ☀️ It’s been a great reminder to myself, to remember to celebrate the small wins within yourself, and recognise when your body and mind need a bit of rest and socialising time 😊 I also enjoyed my lovely Lindt and Ferro rocher mini chocolate eggs (which of course I shared a tiny bit with the kiddos 😉) But I’ll now go into the week ahead, looking forward to a more planned and structured meal prep approach. Having an Indian heritage, legumes are a big part of the cultural diet. Particularly with a Gujarati background, a vegetarian diet is most common. Therefore, I have grown up eating and cooking legumes in different ways, and honestly love them, for the health benefits, and also the taste ;) They are also fairly cheap, in comparison to other grocery items, so to me feel like a no brainer when it comes to a weekly family staple. There are a few favourite dishes I have, when it comes to cooking these: 1. Red Kidney Bean Curry - (Rajma) 2. Lentil Pancakes - (Pudla) 3. Dahl We make these three dishes on repeat in our home. All are packed with nutrients, bursting with flavour and super nutritious! With hectic schedules it’s often easy to grab a snack, eat out of a bag, or a takeaway container, and not sit down to a ‘proper’ meal. Did you know that one of the simplest ways to improve your health and nutrition is to eat from a balanced plate? A balance plate is, filling roughly half your plate with VEGETABLES/FRUITS e.g plate 1 - leafy greens silverbeet and green beans. Other examples could be broccoli, cabbage or fruits. A quarter with healthy CARBOHYDRATES -rich foods, e.g plate 1 - brown rice. Other examples of carbohydrates could be, quinoa, cous cous, sweet potatoes. A quarter with lean PROTEIN foods, e.g plate 1 - chicken thigh. Other examples of protein could be steak, lamb, fish. Plant based options could be Tofu, tempeh. And a small dollop of healthy FATS, e.g plate 1 - cooked in Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Other examples of healthy fats could be avocado, cheese. A balanced meal definitely does not need to be split up like the plate shown here. This is a guide to give an idea of the proportions of each food group that make up a balanced plate. It also does not mean every meal needs to look like this!
