Television β Marquee Moon. I think we can all agree that that Marquee Moon is the best βguitarβ album out of the Punk/New Wave era in the 70βs. Marquee Moon was released in 1977 on Elektra Records, and is an essential document for all music fans. Television was led by Tom Verlaine and Richard Lloyd, both were amazing guitar players. There was a very false edict back then that punk musicians and bands didnβt know how to play their instruments. That statement is of course, laughably false, in fact, they were some of the best musicians that ever lived. Tom Verlaine passed away yesterday and Iβm so bummed. We still have his music, he made several very good solo albums, played on early Patti Smith records, played on Bowieβs Scary Monsters, and was producing Jeff Buckleyβs follow up album to Grace, when Jeff passed. Lastly, there is a cool Television release called The Blow-Up which is a very rocking and raw live recording from the band. It was originally only a ROIR cassette , I have a CD of that jam and its so great. This summer I visited my sister and on the trip, I had two long drives ahead of me. Usually I like to listen to music, but I also like to listen to a good podcast. For example the Talk Assumption Podcast by the band @badassumption. After several episodes I remembered a post about the @gearofthedark_podcast on the War from a Harlouts Mouth Facebook page and heard several episodes in a row. I was familiar with Simon and @wfahm, but not with Hanno and Mantar. On the way back, I had to change that immediately. So I heard "Death By Burning" from Mantar for the first time and it blew me away. A short time later the postman brought two mantar-records. Including the said "Death By Burning".
