Der Film ist zwar nicht Scorceses bestes Werk, aber ein verdammt guter Thriller mit einem starken Cast- allen voran natürlich ein durchtrainierter Robert DeNiro als gefährlicher, hochintelligenter Stalker. Aber auch Nick Nolte in der Opferrolle liefert glaubwürdig ab. Dazu noch ein ordentlicher Score, eine dynamische Kamera und starke Schnitte und fertig ist der spannende Thriller, der mich von der ersten Minute an gepackt hat. The late great Sidney Lumet continued his focus on New York cop corruption with this flawed follow-up to Serpico and Prince of the City. 🇵🇱 Mało która komedia, stworzona w XXI potrafi mnie naprawdę rozbawić. W "Tropic Thunder" mamy jednak do czynienia z ostrą jazdą po bandzie. Benowi Stillerowi udało się stworzyć w 2008 roku satyryczne dzieło balansujące na krawędzi dobrego smaku, "czarnego" humoru i poprawności politycznej. Unintentionallly my fourth Walter Hill direction of the month, Action April movie #29 is 48 Hrs. (1982) - I'd only ever caught bits and pieces of this over the years on late-night TV, so it felt like time to check it out properly. "I been in prison for three years, my dick gets hard if the wind blows" Nick Nolte (Blue Chips) is a hardnosed cop with a grudge, relying on freshly-loaned-out-from-prison Eddie Murphy (Trading Places) to help him bust a brutally violent pair of hoods in the grimy streets and seedy clubs of grimy San Francisco. "You said bullshit and experience is all it takes right? Come and experience my bullshit" Credited with starting the buddy-cop genre, I assumed this would lean more heavily into comedy than it does, given Murphy's presence (this also being his rather impressive screen debut), but it's much grittier than expected. "Class isn't something you buy. Look at you, you've got on a 500-dollar suit and you're still a low-life." "Yeah, but I look good!" Small, fun roles from Annette O'Toole (IT '90), Denise 'Tasha Yar' Crosby (Star Trek:TNG), Jonathan Banks (Breaking Bad) and a porkier-than-usual but excellently moustachioed favourite Brion James (Blade Runner). "At least nobody callin' you shit-head." "I may call you worse than THAT." And he does! Nolte's character isnt even supposed to be racist in comparison to others in the plot, but still spouts lines like "charcoal-coloured loser" and "spear-chucker" at Murphy like it's nothing. The 80's, folks! Despite this, the chemistry between our leads is charming and believable throughout. "I'm not goin' in for all that macho shit, Jack. I was great. Should have my dick bronzed." It's a cliché but the city does as much character work as anyone else here, and is used to great effect. James Horner was obviously super into steel drums in the early 80's, as his soundtrack here is just as heavy with them as it was for Commando. Overall far better than I was expecting.
