Safari Guide was one of our answers back then. Whale researcher was another. While working with marine biologists to study large whales in the Azores, a paradisiacal archipelago of nine small volcanic islands on the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, we realised that sperm whales are the elephants of the ocean. Within a breeding herd, mutual care for each other’s offspring exists. When the boys are old enough, they leave the clan, seek out other young bulls, and roam around as a bachelor group. Adult bulls are often encountered as solitary individuals. It’s truly astonishing how much the behaviour of whales resembles what we’ve learned about elephants at EcoTraining. 🍃🐘 Two vastly different mammals – one roams herbivorous through the South African bush, the other hunts in the open sea for giant squid – and yet so similar. Encounter a wild elephant, and you’re enveloped by its mysterious aura, leaving you in awe. The same magic emanates from whales. When we once told the locals in Hawaii about it, we learned that they have a word for this kind of spiritual energy: ›Mana‹ is a mystical, transcendent force, a fundamental truth that can reside within a fellow creature, an object, or a particular place. Like a powerful aura, entities imbued with Mana are tangible yet abstract, expressive and mysterious, apparent yet unfathomable. Grey Squirrel (Sciurus carolinensis), also known as the Eastern Grey Squirrel in the US. Is an invasive pest here in the UK and due to their larger size and as disease carriers have pushed the native Red Squirrel population into isolated pockets in the North of the country. However with the reintroduction of pine Martin, the reds have another shot. Because the Eastern grey didn't evolve with the pine Martin predating on them, and due to their larger size makes them less agile than the Red's. I met a Narcissus Flycatcher in the forest. He is young,they are came from Chinese or Around Borneo to here Japan. Another lovely sighting from Mokala National Park. The Cape Wagtail. These birds are territorial and are often seen fighting their own reflections. They are tenacious little birds, subsisting on insects. The theory is that they use their tails to flush out insects. This seems fairly dubious, as this is a behavior seen during preening not feeding. This wagging may be a signal of health amongst the species, rather. Dashuria e tyre për vendlindjen dhe angazhimi prej vitesh në zbulimin dhe bërjen publike të veçantive të natyrës së zonës së Kukësit, është shembull kuptimplotë i kontributit për komunitetin në të cilin ata kanë zgjedhur të jetojnë. Tashmë edhe si udhërrëfyes të çertifikuar, Besarti dhe Sebastiani kanë mundësinë për t’u prirë vizitorëve në shtigjet e virgjëra të Kukësit, me përgjegjësi dhe profesionalizëm. I got some of this at a plant salvage (where you dig up and move wild plants ahead of the bulldozer or trail cutting machine) and now this perky little native wildflower of the prairie has decided to eat my garden.
